If you thought that was out there, another pitch for a turtle's movie involved using completely animated Turtles in a live action setting... Very similar to what was found in the 1988 classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit... Which honestly would have been kind of baller in my opinion... Especially if they used the turtles from the 1987 cartoon... Because those guys were absolutely ridiculous and super fun and I love them so much.
    ..
And speaking of the big, bad, badass Casey Jones, he is of course played by the super talented Ellie-us Koh-tayus and is, hands down, the greatest adaptation of Casey Jones ever. No other incarnation comes close to how cool Casey is in this movie. Super random fun fact, I actually convinced my therapist to name their child after this character and they did!

Many have confirmed that it was not Hoag's issue with violence in the film that got her booted from the sequel. It was her frequent advocacy for the well being of the suffering actors in the suits, insisting they get more breaks and humane treatment, which hampered production. The woman is a gem, and the story deserves to be told correctly.

Great breakdown. One correction, at 6:10 you say Danny hands off the stolen wallet to Shredder's right hand man Tatsu; but that was just a regular foot soldier. Tatsu didn't wear the leather vambraces the foot soldiers did, also it wouldn't make sense for Tatsu to be directly involved in the petty theft side of the "business". He was too busy grunting and being the trainer for the upcoming hopefuls.

This was a great video. I loved the Ninja Turtles as a kid. I watched the animated series a ton. I had the action figures with the carrying case, the Ninja Turtles board games, as well as Ninja Turtles pajamas. When a new convience store opened by us, they had a Donatello mascot come so the kids could take photos. The line was hours long for a Polaroid picture with a person in a Ninja Turtles costume. We didn't care it was the talk of our school for weeks. I also had 2 VHS tapes that had 3 TMNT animated series episodes on them. I must have watched those tapes a thousand times. I watched this film on tape because I was too young to see it in the theater. I watched the second one in the theater. Little kid me thought it was awesome. I watched the first and second movies tons of times. It was an amazing time to be alive and be a kid.
Personally, I think this is the best Ninja Turtles movie ever. Even as an adult, I love it. The story, along with it's visuals are amazing. No CGI, and it actually looks real.

I saw this recently and unlike when I was a child there was a scene that was so incredibly intense I didn’t appreciate it until I was now an adult. The scene I’m referring to is when the shredder’s walking into the room where he gave the incredible speech to the foot and kids who worked for him. Not only was his entrance where Shot from the top his speech to the audience was absolutely mesmerizing and that scene was the most impactful scene to me as an adult. Also I lived in Wilmington where this movie was shot and a friend of mine was friends with Josh pias who I think played Leonardo

This was the first movie I took my son to see (he was 4 at the time) and was absolutely mesmerized looking at the screen. He was a very busy child at that age and I wasn't sure if he would be able to sit still for the whole movie but he barely moved. Needless to say I bought the movie when it came out plus the soundtrack and it played almost every day for over a year. I still have the VHS tape, soundtracks and all the action figures. Oh the memories of such a simpler time 😉

Watched my vhs tape of this so many times, it's amazing it never broke. I never thought of the movie as dark. It was great and stunning to a kid who had the cartoons on Saturday morning. To see them as real, talking, and doing the fighting and stunts. I just recently rewatched it, and it's surprising the puns and details I have missed when I was younger. Still the best.

Casey Jones. Has to be a reference to the famous and selfless folk hero / railmans hero of the same name. Also who the grateful dead named their song after. I don't remember the years but the story goes something like this: Casey Jones was a licensed engineer who, after arriving to his midstop in Memphis, had learned that his next train was delayed due to the engineer being sick or something. So Casey volunteers to pilot the trip. In order to make up the lost time, Casey goes a little faster, but he's an experienced railman and all is safe and well. Until they come around a turn and are confronted with a problem, a switchman had fallen asleep further ahead and failed to stop or signal to an oncoming train to take the switch to the other rail. Knowing that a collision was eminent, Casey orders all the other engineers to jump from the engine. He then stays aboard, fully engaging the break up until and through the resulting crash. Due to the amount of speed he was able to reduce his vehicle by, he was the ONLY casualty. And is remembered to this day as a hero.

The movie a the peak of Turtlemainia. It started when the animated series aired in 1987. There was a bunch of other Turtles content that came out that year. After the movie the Turtle craze was running down.
The animated series was the life force of Turtlemania the movie, though great, more than likely lead to the oversaturation and end of Turtlemania.

The secret of the ooze based pies were pretty damn good, and they came with trading cards. Weird that Henson complained about the darkness/violence in this movie when he was the creator/director of The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth because he wanted to get out of children's programming and into more serious stuff. I also had this movie on VHS as a kid, and it was very worn when my parents gave it to one of my relatives for their kids to watch.

I remember watching this in theater when I was either 12 or 13, and I remember noticing the freaky nightmare looking feature at 25:34. Even knowing it was just actor inside still makes it freaky looking. Also when the scene with Rafael looking out on roof and the foot clansmen were sneaking behind him, a little kid in the audience yelled out “watch out Rafael!” Or something similar. I saw part 2 at the movies and it was pretty good.

The fact that this movie was very dark and serious what was made this movie great. As a kid, I felt genuinely scared at times, felt sadness, and anger. The movie was incredibly compelling, the next two movies really took away all the charm by not being dark and serious.
