One thing I love about KLK is that Ryuko’s goals never change once throughout the series, they evolve but her ultimate goal never sways and she achieves all she wants to, and I’m so glad they don’t shoehorn in an icky love interest on the side for her to deal with. The show is about family bonds and friendship, about a girl beginning as a lone wolf then having two besties (and maybe an adoptive pair of siblings) in Mako and Senketsu, then a full on family with the Mankanshokus and Satsuki.

But Mako’s misguided tirade about Ryuko only getting naked for her one true love (Senketsu) in episode 17 kinda made me feel like she wasn’t into Ryuko in that way. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t ship Ryuko with Senketsu as that scene has Ryuko blatantly stating that Mako is misinterpreting the situation and the scene is more about two friends trying to calm Ryuko and get her to put on her uniform again so she can fight Ragyo etc. (as they’re all seen jovially messing around afterward when Ryuko realises what they were both REALLY saying to her). I’d say the same to people who think Senketsu is Ryuko’s love interest (because that is NOT the point of their relationship at all, their love is platonic but it is the closest, most intimate form of love two people can share without the complication of romance ruining it, and I adore their evolving friendship and potential kinship). there are multiple instances that push both Mako AND Senketsu as her most important companions in several scenes. Neither are her love interest but both are her best friends, Soulmates (non romantically) and family bound by blood but not related. Senketsu is the last link to her past (her old family), Mako is the best prospect of her future (her new family). Mako (and people like Mako) are definitely the key to Ryuko’s happy future. I also make a parallel to Senketsu being as significant as Ryuko’s wedding dress, he (as a sailor uniform) is an outfit that is so special and significant to Ryuko at that point in her life, but the point of a wedding dress and school uniform is that it is meant to be outgrown and left behind as people move on with their lives, Senketsu’s death signifies that Ryuko should move onto the next chapter of her life without him, but she should cherish the memories she had wearing him, because of how special their time together was and how wearing him made her feel. It’s icky friendship love at its best, there may be a bit of romanticism in the subtext but personally I think that is all it is, as peoples’ favourite/significant clothes are remembered fondly that way. But in the overall nature of Ryuko’s relationship with Senketsu, I’d say they were platonic soulmates.

It might be a stretch but the themes of nudity = freedom really shine more as you watch further and eventually being nude in the show is an act of rebellion against the fascist power of clothing! I really do dislike some of the moments that are obvi fanservicy but at the end of the day, the ending really wraps things together and proves that an anime’s display of nudity doesn’t have to be in bad faith. I just wish more anime’s back then were like this 😭
Kill La Kill is one of the most stylish, well produced, fantastically written anime that I have seen and will never recommend to / watch in a room with anyone else.
same there's few anime's that can even measure close to it. The music, plot/ action, comedy, satire, symbolism, ecchi, and art-style its all too damn good.
@@ElfyjaMost anime can't balance out the ecchi and other important stuff, like sure KLK is almost full of ecchi scenes but most of the time you won't even acknowledge it due to how epic the fight is or the ecchi is just straight up hilarious. Most anime nowadays only focus on 1 thing and it is either full of ecchi or full of action but none of them is as balanced as KLK

Kill la Kill is incredibly horny, but it's also one of the best written and animated masterpieces I have seen. Studio Trigger absolutely nailed it out of the park. It is up there with Made in Abyss in just how goddamn special it is to my heart. Also that SOUNDTRACK!! UNF!! Blumenkrantz, Don't Lose Your Way, Sirius, Ambiguous and many others I don't know the names of. Just my GOD this show's music goes just as hard as the animation and script/character writing.
Kill La Kill is my second favorite anime and just one of my all time favorite shows the animation,fights, characters and story were just amazing starts out awesome slows down a bit for funny comedy then halfway through gets into the good stuff I loved this series this amv is one of the best I have ever seen awesome job my friend:)

Kill La Kill is my second favorite anime and just one of my all time favorite shows the animation,fights, characters and story were just amazing starts out awesome slows down a bit for funny comedy then halfway through gets into the good stuff I loved this series this amv is one of the best I have ever seen awesome job my friend:)
