Why These Vietnamese Boat Guides Row With Their Feet

In Nin Bình, Vietnam, tour guides row boats with their feet through the Tam Cốc or "three caves" river system. Originally, the sampans were rowed by hand but an increase in tourism took a physical toll on the rowers. Feet rowing is a less-taxing alternative. It also frees up their hands for holding umbrellas or operating floating stores.

Mai Nguyễn I used to LOVE it, haven’t been there in a long time, I’m a Vietnamese living in America, my mom doesn’t like it, she says the sights like ha long bay are dirty and polluted. I think it’s because she immigrated from there. Anyways I still love Vietnam.
