- Aftonbuilt might just be one of the most interesting FNaF fangames ever in terms of history. Created by JeliLiam, who made the Final Nights series, the game was a rejected pitch for the Fazbear Fanverse by Scott Cawthon. Unfortunately, one mistake by Liam has led to a spiraling controversy that threatens to ruin the reputation of not only Aftonbuilt, but everyone who worked on it. With more and more giants in the FNaF community getting involved in this every day, one video threatens to tear the community apart.

Honestly wish Theft King wouldn't let the views be what's holding him back from doing the smart thing. That single video could put future careers for Liam at risk, put the people he is working with in bad light if people don't know everything, and just spread apart the community thinking it's more about the money than the community. Thank you for putting word in on the topic, it's definitely a matter that needs to be spoken about before it gets worse

One of the things about Theft’s video that I see nobody talking about, is that the thumbnail has absolutely NOTHING to do with Aftonbuilt at all, basically.
He used the Battington FNaF VHS Bonnie and Freddy in the UCN office for the thumbnail, as obvious clickbait since that’s something that Theft has been covering a lot recently.
I know it probably doesn’t mean that much at all in the grand scheme of things, but it’s just something that annoys me, and I just wanted to bring it up.
Thanks for making this, I definitely got a biased feel from Theft’s video, and I was hoping you’d make a video covering this whole nonsense. As I was quite frankly getting very confused about everything, and didn’t exactly know what to think about the whole situation.
I also would like to clarify I don’t hate Theft at all. I do enjoy his content, I just wasn’t the happiest with that video in particular.
All of this is just a crying shame, really. After hearing all of this, I honestly feel bad for Scott for potentially getting all of this unnecessary blowback just for rejecting a game for the fanverse.
That’s what Scott gets for being a coward and retiring.

The comment section on that video is one of the most cringe worthy, sad, and overall concerning things I have seen in a while. The fnaf fan base will be the fnaf fan base I guess.

This is a really good video on the drama. While I do disagree on some of your thoughts on theft, I agree with everything else here. It is scary that so many people didn’t actually know the full story by the time Liam asked theft to post his apology and was going strictly off of theft’s video (which I found myself actually having to correct a few people about the actual context.)

This video is correct from the position we see it from. It is good for Liam that he is apologizing and I absolutely SOLUTE people from the team of Jeliteam like Nitori Skye and IvyGM for speaking out and I am very glad they did. Theft King is a good person IMO, he just overdramatized his video (in a way) and I'm very glad that this was shown to the public. This opinion is something I can personally stand for and can agree after seeing the video. Theft wants to do his best for his channel and his following, which is good for him, I'm glad he has something to do, but sometimes, the videos need to be corrected, at least the pinned comment IMO had to be changed. I don't believe I have to say anything else for now. Hopefully Theft King makes something to adress everything in something like a video or a community post.

Really well made video, easily the best on the topic
Now, I'm not one for drama at all, and this drama in particular (in my opinion) isn't one where people should take sides. Many people were wrong in this scenario, and I think it wouldn't be fair to judge people based on their reactions at all in this sense. However, I pretty much agree with your standpoint Ambience, I think you said your piece very well, and laid out the facts VERY clearly. I have always respected Jelatine, Liam, and their games, and still do (I personally will never stop supporting their work, Final Nights 3 was the first ever fangame that I played, and I truly care about the passion they have for this series and game design as a while), and I of course respect Scott for bringing us his masterpieces and unique games, along with providing opportunities for his fans (i.e Fanverse).
Anyway, I think it's time to put this drama to bed, and just let it simmer down. Some big things are coming in the next few months, with new fangame releases (JR's, Oblitus Casa, FNAF+, etc.) which I think will help draw the attention away from this drama (in a good way), and allow us to move on. I'm personally very excited to see what Jelatine will be working on next (as like I've said, been following them for a long time), and I am for sure excited for anything else in the fanverse, and whatever Scott has planned behind the scenes.

Well said. It's good to get this all out there, but at this point, it's time for this to end, and Liam stepping away for a bit is a good indicator of that. From what I've heard everyone in Jelatine just wants to get this over with now and move on, and I'm excited to see what they do next. I still blame Theft for a lot of this, but in my eyes, Scott and Liam are both good people and should still have a place in the community.
I'm extremely excited for the rest of FNaF content this year, and as for my own content, I have some very exciting stuff planned!

It just kinda naturally happens at this point overall. In this case though, it's the result of Liam making a huge mistake that he couldn't take back.

I think alot of things were said spurred on by pure emotion of the rejection, and alot of opinions fueled by rage and not by facts
This is a certified FNAF diss track moment.
Forreal though, this entire controversy can be summed up as, "I've made a severe and continuous lapse in my judgement" like that's crazy to me how it all could be abbreviated to that. A lot of these dramas are 100% avoidable, and quite frankly, it's painting the FNAF community to look like clowns. Anything to make this drama continue further is just plain stupid and petty, and this video points out the flaws and faults of the situation really well. All I wish is that people in this drama would admit their wrongdoings, and then move on, a little humility can go a long way.

There was definitly passion on this team but to dedicate the time to finish a project like this, especially 3d games with stealth elements its ALOT of development and that's very hard to do without profit

The reason why theft king was so biased against scott is because he supported his cancelation. He said he did in one of his comments and to me he just comes off as a guy who doesn't like scott over dumb reasons and will take any situation possible to make him look like a bad person. Thanks for calling him out on this, The comment section of the video really shows that a lot of people are hating on scott for this and he doesn't deserve any more of that.

Okay so first of all thank you for such a comprehensive and objective explanation of the situation, I was so confused and upset about this for days. I am honestly suspicious of how you manage to stay so based and agreeable all the time :'D like you're spot on with everything here, facts and opinions. Maybe I just agree with you lol.
And secondly, as clickbait-y as the title sounds, I think this is probably the biggest drama in FNaF history.....since Scott ''retired'' at least. This kind of thing affects a lot of people's reputations, and the fandom's as a whole. Its making me think about a lot of things, most of all what we could hopefully learn from it, because its really depressing that this shit is the norm now, the thing to be expected. It seems to me that this fanbase has drastically deteriorated in the last few years, its hard to pinpoint when and why but it seems like you can go a few months without someone getting cancelled. Any day now someone we all admire and love like Kane Carter or Dawko or even fucking YOU, AMBIENCE will get ''cancelled'' over some dumb shit that might borderline actual crimes. Madness.

I actually was one of the people who donated him some money to live off :'D not sure if I regret that now, the kid seriously lacks resilience and leadership. ''Dropped the ball'' is the right phrase, absolutely pathetic.....I feel bad on everyone's behalf including him.
I guess I do disagree about AftonBuilt. I think Security Breach's failure is exactly why Scott should've taken it on. It would've been exactly what the franchise needed and while I don't exactly admire Liam's leadership, to say it was ''doomed from that start'' is cynical in my opinion. It wasn't half as ambitious as SB, with 1/4 levels in a PRE-ALPHA already complete, somehow with less bugs than SB's full release. I think Scott might've just skipped out on the best FNaF game ever, or at the very least the best free roam FNaF game since TJOC. It doesn't matter now, we'll never know.
I shouldn't be so harsh though, neither Scott or Liam seem to be bad people. Just lacking the necessary communication and cool-headedness for literally anything. Why Liam was unclear on the fact that the game the team had worked hard on for the same 2 year timespan as Security Breach with NO guarantees that it would even make money could be down to either of them.
Oh another thing - the award for.....''most disgraceful cunt'' has to go to theft king. Fuck that guy. I've never seen such cancerous filth in this fandom and I'm not sure what's worse, him making this thing wayyyy worse than it should be or that this is likely only just the beginning for him. The thief hunts drama actively and will cause more of it until he is dragged down into the metaphorical abyss of controversy, probably like Smike was so long ago but ten times worse. Remember the days when the worst thing about FNaF was worrying about art theft? In the last year or so we've had NFTs, child groomers, now this. How and why his abysmal excuses for videos have so much attention is beyond me, I know a hundred CZcams channels who deserve that success more and, y'know, haven't gone out of their way to antagonise and slander everything they touch.
I'm rambling because I really need to say this to someone but my ultimate point I guess is this - times like this keep cropping up again and again and again, and they make me question why I am even still here. Why don't I leave the FNaF fandom? Is there still hope? Do I have some immense guilt? Maybe its just ignorance?
None of this matters if we don't take the necessary lessons out of it. But this is only the beginning, drama like this is going to happen again and again and again if people, both individuals involved and observers such as us, don't change our mentalities!
Is the worst over yet or is there more to come? I can't ignore it without losing much I love, so perhaps I will simply have to be one of the people who makes the sacrifice and bears out the dark times, no matter what.....

Damn, you went in hard on Theft, lol. But honestly, I can understand why and I agree with some of this. When this stuff is happening so often it can be tough to see a point in remaining in the FNaF community. For me, the reason to keep going is pretty simple; I like the games, and I like the people I've met because of them. Not only do I have nearly 8 years of memories attached to this series, the network of people I met through it are incredible. My friends like you are all incredibly talented, amazing people and on top of that, I've gotten the chance to meet several big figures in the community that I used to IDOLIZE a few years ago. Some of the people that I've watched for years are now my friends and collaborators. Instead of learning about them through a video, I get to sit down and have honest, fun, thought-provoking conversations with them and work on projects together. I never would have thought that to be possible a year ago, and I owe EVERYTHING to this series.
As such, I also feel a very strong compulsion to keep the community as pure as possible. When someone fucks with the community or people I look up to, you can bet that I'm gonna swing back and get my message out to a few thousand people, even though so many others have louder voices than mine. Theft king tried to mock the Fanverse devs by asking them if they thought they were the "defenders of FNaF" and I have no idea how that's an insult, because that's how I view myself and many others I've met. Someone's gotta go after the truth no matter what.
I can personally assure you that I'm not going down for shit, and the same goes for DJ, Kane, and everyone else I know. If someone targets a bigger creator like Scott or Dawko for unfair reasons, then I'm gonna defend them too and make a really good case.
I made this way overdramatic, but point is, the reason to stick around the community is because you care about it, and because someone's gotta protect it from misinformation and baseless witch-hunts.

I mean, it’s kinda more than just getting salty. I can kinda see where he’s coming from. Jel and his team tried to reach out to Scott and it took weeks to get a response and i can imagine it was very tedious waiting for a answer while working hard on your game only to get a no after all the hardwork and patience. But I have agree that Jel shouldn’t have done what he did.
