The Rage Against The Machine thing was fantastic at the time. A sort of grassroots movement swelled up in the UK in response to the X-factor winners clogging up the airwaves at Christmas time and getting the coveted Christmas no.1 single. As a response loads of people bought the RATM single instead, it got to no.1 at Christmas and it now gets played yearly at Christmas time in the UK haha.
Proud to say I did my bit.

Rage Against the Machine got Xmas number one in the UK in 2009 after a campaign to ensure that the X Factor winner Joe McEldry didn’t get it. That’s why the BBC said “buy Joe’s record”. Rage got the number 1 :-)
The unseen irony at the time being that Simon Cowells label had bought the u.k. rights to ratm, so he won either way... everybody got played!
Also a nice moment on radio 1 at Reading Festival when some cunt, biffy Clyro i think, covered killing in the name and didn't sing the fuck you, so everyone in the audience shouted it instead.
Then later that day ratm played the main stage dressed as guantanamo Bay inmates.

Rage against the BBC is exactly how it's meant to be; I would not have imagined it going any other way. They (BBC) asked for it by requesting them to do something related to a song (and band) about not doing what you're told to.

The car crash that nearly took our the news reporter and the camera operator, they were doing a story about how dangerous that junction is given how many vehicle accidents have occurred there over recent times. On point if you ask me. It was in Southern California.

I can understand getting confused over " you" the first time.
But when he says the name of the show is "you", and she thinks the show has her full legal name, it turns into Abbot and Costello's " who's on first".
Context for the RATM clip: that year everyone in the UK got sick of the fact that whoever won X Factor that year would automatically get xmas #1 and so there was a successful campaign to put this song to the top of the charts instead. It was absolutely glorious. Simon Cowell was so bitter.

One of the funniest things I've seen on live TV is this one reporter trying to show just how strong the winds are. He's making it look like it is hard to walk against it. It looks like he is fighting the wind. Meanwhile, two people walk by like nothing is going on. LOL!

It's much more about the Rodney King incident and rampant racism in general than it is about censorship. Yeah they say "fuck you I won't do what you tell me" a bunch, but it's at the end of the song and it's referring to all the other stuff they brought up before. "Some of those that work (police) forces are the same that burn crosses" is a much better line for encompassing the meaning behind the music.

Hey ozzyman! I'm a big fan! Also, I am a videographer for a local news station, we are ABSOLUTELY NOT allowed to swear on the air. We will get fired and lose any chance of another job in the media. Not to mention FCC fines. Glad the reporter is ok. More times than not, reporters are paired up with a videographer now and while live, the videographer is to keep an eye out for any dangers.

The first clip is crazy to me, I wouldn’t have known it, but I went to school with that kid, literally about a week ago I saw him come up as a Facebook friend recommendation and I had no idea that he was a journalist / reporter, and I saw this video of him, we both came from a town of about 4,000 people and now you’re reviewing him in Australia haha, it’s really a small world haha.

I still remember in the 90s, RATM was on Saturday Night Live. They came back from commercial break, showed the band for a second, then cut back to commercial break. They never played their second song. Turns out, during rehearsal, they were told they can not fly the flag upside down on stage. Seconds before coming back on, they ran out and hung the flag.
Its amazing how they have flipped roles and are now the cog in the machine

I love your viddys! You call this a "longer episode" and yet, 11 minutes later, and I still want more! And I totally agree about the dogs/pets in the news broadcasts. I would watch news anchors sitting on their couch (professional lighting, cameras, directors, teleprompter... the works) but with their pets as co-hosts. Then switch to Karen & Rosie the pittie with weather, then swap to Geoff and Boots the cat with sports.
