How to Easily Install a Boost Gauge! (Golf GTI Mk4)

  • I finally installed my boost gauge that I had laying around for over 2 months! I never really found a decent tutorial on installing a gauge for a golf mk4 1.8T, so I decided to make a short tutorial myself. Let me know if it helps!
On a stock 1.8t AUM, you should be running about -20 PSI on idle, 8-9 PSI at peak, and 7-8 PSI at a steady pace.

    *2019 UPDATE!*
This video is still getting a lot of attention, and I've been getting tons of comments about this install so I thought I'd answer the main questions below:
*- Where did I get the pillar pod?*
It was from ebay, but I believe the seller no longer makes them. Best bet is to check Facebook or ebay for second hand ones.
*- Where did I wire the gauge too?*
It's wired into the dimmer switch, positive and negative. Useful guide can be found here: axleaddict.com/auto-repair/How-Install-Boost-Gauge-Wires-MKIV-VWAudi-DIY
*- Why did I wire it into the FPR?*
    BECAUSE GOOGLE TOLD ME TOO!
I wasn't and still am not a expert on these things, however my car has changed a lot since this video, and the gauge is now tapped into a spare nipple from the inlet manifold (after deleted n249, SAI, ECT). Is that the best place? F*ck knows! But it works.
I apologies I haven't been able to reply to you all, but thank you for your continued support! ❤️

Get some 3mm silicone tubing for the fuel regulator where the 'T' piece is going. Make sure it's the braided type 😊

The video it is not bad but you just made a mistake where you did hack the tube to put the T pice. Becouse that is the fuel pressure regulator and now whit that long hose for the gauge it will have a lag in the regulator. You must finde another place to put the T pice but not the breake servo pump or the fuel pressure regulator. Good luck
