I don’t think I would bother responding to comments or having to explain your choices. It’s your farm and you are very intelligent and resourceful, Evan.
It shows he reads them. People appreciate that, even if he is shutting down their ideas. It is a much more genuine way to interact with the viewers than giving everyone a "heart" for their comment.
I totally agree!
@@--_DJ_--I totally agree!
@@--_DJ_--I don't think Evan is shutting down anyone's ideas. I think he is doing what works for them and their situation. I think its more like he is sharing his thoughts and trying to educate folks as to another way of doing things.
@@kd5inm I don't mean anything bad by saying shutting down their ideas. People thought it might be a septic tank lid, he shut that down by showing it wasn't. No harm, no foul.
Evan, you are doing just fine. It's your property, and you don't have to explain to some of these keyboard geniuses why you do what you do. Carry on your way.
If it was a septic tank lid, that is a terrible place for his propane tank. People are only trying to help for the most part. I think it is smart for him to engage with the viewers in the videos, especially because they never seem to make any replies other than the usually "heart" on almost every comment, which to me comes off as fake.
Please know that no matter what you do there will always be someone with a better solution or someone that thinks you should've done it different. Just do what works best for you and your house and whoever doesn't think it's right they can start channel and teach everyone the " correct" way to do things. 😊
Absolutely! 👍
Hi... Evan and Rebecca thanks you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
Hi Evan, exactly right on the turkey roost, at least in our experience. Turkeys just need some protection from the rain, and the roof doesn't need to be anything complicated. I saw the comments from the video when you built it. On our ark, the turkeys hop onto the lowest board, like the one you have over the feed, then they hop up onto the roosts. I did a time-lapse of our turkeys climbing up for the evening on a video that's coming out Sunday. Your ark looks perfect!
Thanks Pete! I think I will make a few minor jmprovements, but it works the way it is.
Explaining your methodologies can be a doubled edged sword. You do what works for “your” farmstead. You are not telling everyone that this a “how to” channel. I love the fact that every place is unique and every person doesn’t always have the same resources, weather and knowledge base. Your channel is great as is, just keep doing what works for you and Rebecca. I love that you are so knowledgeable and that you and Rebecca work so well together! Your farm and animals are a testament to that! Keep doing what works best for you guys. Love you sharing your journey with us, just wished you would share that country fried steak and apple pie!! Thanks Evan and Rebecca!
we all like hearing more from Rebecca, its great to watch you two working together as a couple. Thanks for sharing.
I love the phrase: Freezer Camp!😂
You guys are doing a great job around there and one of the most humane farms I've seen. You are doing an outstanding job keeping the animals safe and well fed and happy with there living quarters. Keep up the good work and the fun you have , we so much enjoy watching your channel. Fred.
Sounds like Rebecca needs to start a cooking channel. 🤠
I use when I get done walking. My Jersey cows. I give them a apple.
I don't understand why people in the comments are acting like you answering questions is a bad thing. I think questions and answers can be done respectfully and I enjoy hearing you explain your thought processes on things that may now seem intuitive on the surface. I think hearing your explanations helps us all learn even if we may not agree with everything. Thank you for your channel I have learned a lot from you and others in the comments.
Those country fried steaks looked good enough to eat. Thanks for the video.
Great job keep up the great work love your videos thank you
Rebekah is falling in line of being a country girl, her and her flip flops! That’s me too, or no shoes at all! 😅😊
This channel is such a joy to watch. You guys do a great job.
Haters will always hate. Just keep being yourself, we like your channel because y’all live life and share what works for your farm. And those country fried steaks look amazing! God bless from north Florida.
Enjoy the video on your farm .
OMG...now I want chicken-fried steak!
Like Rebecca’s T shirt and hat!!!!! Tyjt
Evan, no matter how you build the turkey roost someone is always going to have something to say. If it works for you and your animals so be it. By using material you had lying around, you used it fii or r a purpose and didn’t have to trash it. You are doing an amazing job to protect and care for your animals. You and Rebekah are a good working team. Keep up the good work and you will reap your rewards of what and how you are doing and taking care of your animals. Your homestead has come a long way by your hard work and it is getting better each time a project is completed. Take care the both of you, be safe and GOD bless you both. Bye for now from Alabama .
"Wow, great video! I loved every minute of it and learned so much. Keep up the fantastic work!"
Hope have plenty of freezer space for the hogs
Everyone is a professional builder. The truth of the matter is, it's your farm, and you run it how it works for you.
You are doing the best with what you got. Repurpose recycle and reuse. That’s the original farm credo.
Very good keep up the great work love your videos thank you
We always enjoy your videos, and watching what you’re up to. Rebekah, I really like your shirt. ❤️ Thanks for sharing all you do!
Thanks for sharing..different strokes for different folks.
Plse next intro with Rebecca start with "Hi iam Rebecca's boo Evan n see he blush"😂 well done guys.
Hello Evan and Rebecca, First of all Thank you for the videos. Please just keep doing what you're doing, don't worry about the nay sayers. Take care.
Good content!! Thank you all for sharing your journey!!! Rebecca, yes thank God "it is Finished" !!! May our Heavenly Father continue to bless you all !!!!! Eddy
I wonder if those concrete pads are where they had two fuel tank racks. One for diesel and one gas. Looks like the pads we poured for our two fuel tank racks.
How slow or how fast your pigs grow is more about genetics rather than if they are barrows or gilts. Keep up the good content. Enjoy your videos.
When you were answering questions about your cement pads and your Turkeys I thought what a bunch of dumb comments( QUESTIONS) ...Than I thought NO what a teaching moment. A lot of people know nothing about country living or farming in general. So thanks Evan for a good lesson on Country life and animals and basically common cense.
What a great idea👍 using the pond to water. Lucky duck you have a pond
Thanks Guys
Ellie did pretty good compared to the horses my sister used to halter break 😂😂 great work guys the pigs are looking awesome.
the pond is looking great.
I LOVE Rebecca's shirt and dinner looks delish!
Howdy Rebekah and Evan, to quote a spider I once read about...."Some Pigs"! Have A Day! ;~)
Evan, don’t sweat the negative comments. In my 47 years of working with and around people I’ve learned this. There are some that can go with you to a store, pick out the exact same hammer as you, yet, for some reason theirs is better than yours.
Keep doing what you’re doing. Enjoying watching your progress and journey.
Country Fried steak is one of my favorite dishes. Lookin good!
those turkey's are so cool. out of all your animals, they are my favorite.
Im a farmer like you own 120 acres myself but farm 200. I love your videos. You help me and inspire me to create my CZcams channel DKM Farms. So I want to say thank you
Thank you for your great videos. Rebekah, please wear safer shoes when working with the cows. I worry that you will get stepped on and end up with a broken foot. Might I also suggest giving the calf praise and release every time she takes even one step forward. That is how I taught my colt to lead, and it worked great.
Hay Evan chikens are looking good soon they will be ready for freezer camp all your animals look well token care of thank you for sharing blessings to you and your family
If you leave the halter on the calf with the lead rope dragging the ground the calf will halter break herself. Bc every time she steps on the lead rope it help to train her to not run off
I'd be afraid of her getting hung up on something, though maybe for a cow that would be more annoying than an injury risk.
Rebecca, that supper looked great! Mmmmmm!
always enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Rebecca love the shirt.
I love country fried steak or chicken, mashed potatoes, and gravy and a biscuit. It's been years since I've had it. I do intermittent fasting 24 hours a day, dinner only.
Evan and another piece of plywood to the front of the turkey roost so that you can put the feed can on to keep it out of the weather.
We are now getting rain, Been dry for months, I see your pond is clear again,
Your supper made me super jealous!
Good one guys again your property you do it your way ❤👏👏
Really enjoy your vblog! Your farm is awesome! Love the chicken-fried steak n taters! YUM!
What worked well for us when halter training calves, halter them before we gave them feed and walked them to feed, or had the feed just in front of them to coax them to walk . But we have generally started with bottle calves.
Don't worry about explaining yourself, your doing the best you can with what you got and that's what makes you guys unique on yt. I don't think people realize how much work is involved in what you are doing. 40 hour jobs, building back a farm, and maintaining what you have already accomplished, and then presenting it on CZcams is a monumental task. Most would have given in years ago. Dinner looked amazing.
I really like your way of working the land and the farm animals. Trial and error and a willingness to grow and adapt are good methods. The most important aspect of your endeavor is the relationship between husband and wife. You are a great team. Your goals are compatible with what you try to achieve. Farm life doesn't have to be all chores. You can also relax and enjoy. George from Floida
Evan that looks just like my septic tank top. I know because I had to have it pumped right before Christmas and I dug most of it by hand. Not to fun. lol But contrary to what some are saying, thanks for responding and showing it. awesome job.
Great job you two are great people love to watch you both!!
When Ellie steps toward you give her immediate slack and then wait 30 seconds before tightening it up again. They need the reward (slack) for the step. We, including me, have a tendency to keep pulling so they don't get a reward.
Awesome job on another video ...... thanks for sharing
👍👍👍👍👍👌Lots of good stuff thanks for sharing love the irrigation idea with the Eco flow along with the solar charging, pumping out some of the nutrient rich pond water to the pasture, mmmmmmmmcountry fried steak!!!
Enjoyed the video. Your homestead looks so peaceful. Thanks for sharing, dinner looked delicious btw. Y'all have a Blessed evening.
Good after noon
Thank you for sharing.
Roost needs a Just a Few Acres cover over the water but that is a fine turkey palace. Bob in Nevada
YUMMY YUMMY
“I’ll direct you!” I like the way that woman operates. Nice video today.
That isn't how you direct someone backing up, but it worked.
It is finished, Thank you ,, praise you Jesus.
Great Video , & Dinner looked Delicious...
Big sprinklers have a sprinklers like that that throw far! Pete with going turf services uses them and swears by them they last forever and work great!
Maybe somebody hopes to see a turkey climb up on the turkey roost and fill the leaking nail holes. With the cooler seasonal weather coming everything looks ready. The pond water has to be as good a fertiliser as any store bought product. The pigs are living "The life of Riley" treated to pies and such. They're going to end up fat big oinkers in no time. Nice farm video and dinner.
Ohhhh, that’s looks yummy. Codos to Rebecca
Yep, now it is country fried steak for supper. Dang it looked good.
Cannot believe how much those turkeys look like dinosaurs!
it does not matter what you do you will always get other opinion so do'nt let it bother you. it works so it is a win.
May be a flat roof but its better than a tree the wild turkeys sleep in. 👍
Evan-you need a $200 transfer pump from HF.It's powered by a gas engine.Mike Morgan loves his.
That is one beautiful meal! Good video😉
Thanks for video. 🍽😋
Please make a larger turkey wagon with sizable turkey roost with more leaky roof, take it to Congress and then tell them this is their new home till they grown up to adults.
What's important to you is not always what's important to the little heifer. Give it time - she'll be co-operasting soon. :)
Hi it's Jon from CRAZYDAYSHOMESTEAD I'm from UP here in central PA and have been butchering pigs for well I er 30 years now. Your males, almost without exception, will be pushing 300lbs in 7 months if not over. I like a bigger hog , makes for better bacons and bigger pork chops. But that being said if you figure 6 months for sows and 7 for barrows you'll be pretty good. Love the videos keep up the good work you guys 👌 God Bless
I could've gotten a couple of piglets at an Amish auction for $30ea on Saturday. I really wasn't ready for them, and my husband forgot his checkbook. Needless to say, no pigs through winter on this homestead.
That's a pretty good price.
If you ever visit us in Texas you get the country fried steak if you order chicken fried steak. The same in Oklahoma. You also can order chicken fried chicken. A large chicken breast done like the steak.
Fryers!!😮😊
OMG put on some boots when scooping poo! ❤ lol😂
That roost is practical for its purpose.
In hotter weather a shade cloth for added shade would be perfect.
Great T shirt!!!
Rebecca we like your shirt.
Pond looks good
Freezer camp? That is funny. Great video; we did 30 meat chickens this year.
I've just left the haltet on them and let them walk around. When they step on it they give to it and get used to it pretty quick.
As for people thinking those concrete pads were from a septic system one thing to consider is that I don't believe there was any buildings up there that would have needed septic. On the pond, did I miss a video where you got rid of all the duck weed?
The duck weed is just moved to the other end. And as the weather cools it will almost completely go away in the winter time.
@@CountryViewAcres so am I to assume it will come back in the spring. If so that sucks.
pretty good timing for you raising the animals to feed you guys. and love the way you care for them
Gosh Evan wish we had some fine weather,we have had 10 days of rain😫today and last night,we have wind 80mph and rain.🇮🇪☹️☹️
Really like the video, very good content keep it coming !
Thank you for posting another great video of your daily farm chores. I am a relatively new subscriber. So I have been binge watching many of your earlier videos. And it has been amazing to watch the steady progress that you two have made to your farm operation. May the Lord continue to bless you both for your dedication and good stewardship of His creation. 😊
Can’t wait to see when the turkeys go to freezer camp. We did a few one year and kept them a few extra months due to family illness and we had butcher weights of 48 and 52 pounds! Almost too big to cook in a normal way.
