Something to remember is once the ews delete has been performed the car can be very easily stolen using a flat blade screwdriver and a hammer. So it’s something to considered when deciding to do this to a street car or not.

If I unplug the ews will it start then? I,ve been dropping my keys a lot and the last time everything fell out, and now doesnt click together. Since then it starts only with the green chip if its together with the blade. But now after a week no crank no clicks when I turn the key. Plus my key wont open the doors when I turn it, it just spins 360. Anyway I’m shure it has to be with anti theft system or the ews.( key also has no battery, died).
So my car is always open (not locked) maybe thats why?

Evan, you are THE MAN! It worked! Incredible. I want to tell others that this actually works. Dont get frustrated... well, you will get frustrated but don't give up. It works. I Never done anything (electronic) like this before. 2003 525i was No crank No start when manually hit starter. I watched any video I could find... and I watched yours about 15 times thru the process. There are a lot of steps, but you actually hit every detail. No other video even helped. When you got to the part about ground out pin 104... I thought it was over my head. But I had no alternatives, so I watched and rewatched and trusted your instruction. Bro, I can't tell how much... actually, I can tell you that you saved this car's life. Had this not worked it was going to the junkyard. And how good it felt when it actually started. Now for that head gasket issue...

I saw you were getting read errors when connecting. I had the same and a latency setting of 1 on the serial port. Turns out that a latency setting of 1 is too short. I increased mine to 8 and it was 100% reliable after that.
I'd love to see the tuning video, there's so many videos on the bootmode flash but they skip the tuning or do it off camera. I've had this stuff saved for so long it's now apparently out of date. I'm still waiting on a prefacelift e46 to show up in the junkyard so I can get a spare dme and a harness to do this. :/

Can you do one with the MS4X flash tool and show sap, cat delete? Also when do the definition files come in? Do you need the firmware, patch list and definition files?

I have a 2003 325xi with a blown 2.5 motor! I want to replace it with a 3.0 motor from a 2004 X3! After the swap, what would I have to do to get it fired up?
My DME is probably dying, I have multiple cylinder misfire a shadow code on control unit self test. I am looking to get a used DME (preferably low miles donor) programmed it to my VIN and with latest software update. Its a daily drive car and probably do not want any fancy mods and strain the 150K+ mile old motor. I do not mind the EWS delete, in fact that could solve my no intermittent no crank no start issue on hot weather days. I dont think people would want to steal my 19 year old car. I dont want to risk doing it on my existing original DME . Can you help?

i think im overthinking this. but ive already bricked my car once.... and "updating" from 0037 to the latest, well there isnt much out there really.

My e46 makes a rattling noise/ buzzing coming from the front wheels , had it checked it n was told it was lower control arm bushing I replaced n it’s still the same any help on what it can be ?
Are you grounding pin 104 straight from the Battery Negative post?

What do you do with the Definition file? I don't see you importing it anywhere in tuner pro. I just see you importing the patch list file
Hey Evan great video. followed well and was doing it for MS42 323i managed to flash it and do the ews bypass however when i plug in the key to start i still don't get the beep sound you get when your key is recognized by ews and the car wont start. When i diagnose i still get an ews fault codes.
My questions are. After the delete, are ews errors okay to see and aren't the beep sounds before you start the car supposed to ring like as if in a car with a working ews system or there are no beeps with the bypass but the car starts?.

By any chance would you know if you were to get a DME from the junkyard and rewrite your vin to the car and do the EWS delete would it interfere with smogging your vehicle as it’s a daily, not a track or drift car, I’m in CA and have strict smog rules

good day i have bought a second hand dme and ews for my 318i e46 but i still have my old key and ignition in will that be a problem
i have a 98 318 ti i am having the problem with the ews. i put a new column in because the column as damaged... it has the original ignition switch from my old one installed back into the new one..so my car will not even crank nor turn over.. i took the module loose and jump the two thicker wires and the car will turn over but no spark nor fuel..is there a kit and a program to make this bypass happen..what im asking is can you help with the info i need to bypass the system properly..thank you
Let me start off by thanking you as you have helped me tremendously in the past with older cars. Is there a way to do EWS delete on ms45.1? So far it seems like there’s no option other than changing the harness and ecu sensors etc. I have a 330ci ZHP with ms45.1 and my keys remote suffered some serious damage and the immo chip broke completely.

How much do you require to reprogram a ews, I've got a no crank no start, key is good.. starter turns over, so it has to be the ews.

I tried this with a second DME from the wrecking yard. Loading the files onto the new DME seemed to go fine. Car cranks, but does not start. Is there some additional detail missing from this video to actually get this done. INPA reports 2 errors "115 TPS-Adaption" & "128 EWS-Transmission/-Parity"

I have a E53 diesel M57 motor, but the only Firmware files are for M54 petrol motors in the E53 X5. Can I use the M54 files to remove the EWS from my M57 diesel powered X5? Or is there a M57 version for the X5 MS43 firmware?

Hi Evan I got a key from BMW that will turn the dash lights on etc but won't start my car? Previous owner must of used the BMW ews slot so when BMW have done my key it's useless basically. is there anyway to get this key working again by changing the ews slot etc? Can you sync or reprogram my DME and CAS together remotely? I have a 2007 BMW 525I 3.0l N52. I bought it with this issue. Keys work to lock and unlock but no crank no start. Replaced battery with good battery, replaced starter, fuel pump works and engine is able to turn independently from the push to start button. Car seemed to be without a battery for a few months.

my 330 ci is a 2001 (08-00) i made a bad flash somehow. now i have no crank, no start, and my "auto cluster stuff" is no longer showing up.
have fuel at the rail however, key dings in the ignition as well. any info on what to do next? my DME bin is 0037..... so, can i not simply take a 0069 bin and flash that, change the vin and delete EWS (before) sync EWS and that would work???? car is stuck at a lowes parking lot of all places.... i did a full write in MS4x when i wasnt in boot mode which failed. (i have wrote you on instagram) you did not respond. this is different than that message however.

So my dme(ecu) on my e46 has some corrosion and it was recommended to get a new dme and swap it. But if I got a new dme do I also need to get a new ews or can I just swap dme’s and be good?
you don't need a new ews module but if you swap the dme the new one will have to be programmed or aligned for the existing ews.
HI there Evan I'm Manny and i have a 2013 bmw 550i n63 f10 WBAFR9C56DDX80982 and recently i had to replace the transmission,battery and the key fob battery and now my bow will crank but won't start. The car has been sitting for quite a while on the car hoist because was hard to find the same type transmission for this car I do have a autel MK 808 diagnostic reader and i got and ews immobilization code and also a f2108 typeof code don't remember because i disconnected the diagnostic tool. Can you help on how to fix this problem. I'm guessing the second code the Bf2108 was generated by the EWS code

Hey Brother I need your help I'm legally blind and I'm working on a E46 2001 BMW 325xi. I discovered that the ews is bad in the car it recognizes the key annual allow me to crank it as long as I have the two wires crossed over in the plug I want to do an ews delete but does the ews have to be plugged in at all once you have done the ews delete I've checked out your Amazon I'm not sure which cable I need to hook into with the laptop. Because I'm legally blind to get my screen reader to read the comment section what if you reply directly it helps
