I'm 41 and have been a metalhead since the age of 9. I've seen it all, Sabbath giving birth to metal, hair bands faking metal,new wave and grunge almost killing metal, black and death expanding metal, Limp Bizkit fucking up metal , Slayer reviving metal and Slipknot doing something to metal (not sure what). So when an old fart like me says this tune is FUCKING EPIC!!!! you better believe it is...

+Paul Daluz Wolfheart was the solo project of Tuomas, the vocalist and guitarist from Before The Dawn. It's now a proper band but during it's creation he left all of his other bands.

And as a big example: Rammstein (don't hate me for this)... Simple songs, almost any1 can play those... Still they kick ass.
I actually prefer the "easier" music like this. That has feeling and PASSION in it.
Music isn't supposed to be hard, it's supposed to be meaningful and touching.

Rise of the Phoenix feels like their Magnum Opus to me, their shit has been getting heavier ever since the album "The Ghost" - that's really when that shift in style began. That said I love all their albums, but this just feels so orgasmicly good.
1:16 Wearing an Insomnium shirt. Its cool to see my second favorite band supporting my first favorite band! Now if they could only tour together in America, and bring Omnium Gatherum with you please!

This band and especially Tuomas are so fricken good that I take every chance I can to introduce them to friends of mine. I listen to them almost exclusively on my rides and love every second of it.

This is one of the first metal bands I turned to when as you say "the going got tough" and I'm proud to say today that they've strongly influenced my taste in metal. I can only hope that Wolfheart continues and expands upon the sheer epicness that is Before the Dawn.
My only regret is never seeing this amazing band live.
Tuomas fucking rules. This band and Black Sun Aeon are my new favs. What is it about finland, seriously so many great bands from there.

Got to agree with you on that: C.C. DeVille is one hell of a guitarist and Rudy Sarzo is extremely versatile. Even the dudes in fucking Stryper were excellent musicians.

I saw an interview with DIO where he admitted that when he heard NIRVANA for the first time he knew his career was in trouble. In retrospect I'll say that grunge couldn't kill metal but at the time it sure looked that way. And I actually like some of Slipknot's stuff , but I can't help but notice how they have polarized the metal community.

dude,there are bands out there like kalmah that in my opinion should have been recognised a bit more(to say the least)..i mean,swamplord by kalmah is the most beautiful series of songs i have ever heard in my life...what i want to say is nowadays there are trully some serious musicians out there making some epic melodeath music..

i just listened to aeon of cold right before this, which made me realize that these two songs have very similar structures. different melodies in each, but theyre sorta two different versions of the same [very good] song. the intro on this one is a bit different, and theres a bridge between the verse and chorus, but they both go into a frenetic verse with blast beats, fast tremolo picking and a higher lead guitar in the background. the chorus on each is a bit slower and softer, with a soaring lead guitar over it. i guess theres probably a lot of songs that follow similar structures, but these two in particular strike me as having a really similar overall feel.

Last November I had the chance to have a conversation with both Tuomas and the Insomnium guys. Really cool dudes, all of them. But honestly, I don't see the comparison. Both awesome Finnish melodic death metal, but really different in style. Tuomas is genius, Insomnium are geniuses, just love em both :)
