All outdoor stores I talked to are advising not to put a rooftop tent on a roofrack that is clamped to the rails. I understand the Thule roofracks are clamped to the existing rails on the subaru. Who is right?

Hey Subaru, Why does it state in your users manual for the 2023 Subaru Outback that "a rooftop tent is not permitted" yet here we are watching a video on it.

This is an argument I've had with so many differen't people. It all comes down to what your car is rated for dynamic load meaning in motion, your car is prob rated about the same as mine, around 150 lbs or something like that - which this tent weighs around a hundred. Static where you're sitting still means these thule bars will hold around 500 lbs. I just bought this tent to go on top of my Kona N when I want to hit some adventures with my fam jam and i'm super excited about it

I'd guess you mount it up there before you leave, keep the ladder in the boot then everything from the "unzip the rain cover" happens when you're at your campsite.
