- In this episode of TangTalk 5, I want to have a deep conversation about my the trauma and experiences I faced and encounter growing up as an Asian-American from Oklahoma in the 80s and 90s and discuss topics on lack of representation and the harmful stereotypes we faced and still have to endure as Asian-Americans. Having confidence and visibility helps us all be heard and seen. Having a safe space to create the conversation also helps us all heal and even improve the way we navigate our self worth and fight to make changes for the better so that we can all evolve for a better future. Thank you to my friends Christie Mcfit, Tofu and Jasmine.

I feel like Guy Tang is the only one holding safe spaces for Asian Representation
Thank you ❤ it’s definitely helps fill the void for so many including myself. I want to do what I didn’t see. ❤ I want us all to be proud
Thank you for giving us the platform to keep it real, always ❤
Always! Thank you for joining me once again for a great conversation about being Asian-American and a content creator
Thank you for being our platform and speaking out for us, and being brave when we're not🫶🫶🫶
Anytime. Even though I do hair. I am always about speaking up about real experiences that can connect us
Love this so much ❤ you guys are so real and raw. Hard to find people like you in life
It takes so much to be vulnerable and it’s definitely healing for all of us to speak about our experiences and struggles
Wrote a whole essay on the inequality in Hollywood. Minstrel shows are horrific, yet people ignore the stereotypes and limited opportunities Hollywood offers those of Asian decent.
'Marco Polo', staring the vampire actor, Ian Somerholder, features a white Kublai Khan, who is wearing Simpson yellow makeup! It made it hard to see past this for any race watching! The movie would have actually been good if they cast an Asian man for the Kublai Khan Character!
Also, females tend to be cast in either the helpless geisha role, who needs a white man to save her..or she is like an evil Dragon queen. Males also have roles offered that are limiting...which tends to be either a Kung Fu master, or a sort of shop owner, who is even willing to sell out his own in order to help out white guys. You can even see this in the Matrix, with the keymaker. How has this not changed much since Bruce Lee's time?
I agree.
I am so glad we are seeing so much more representation for Asian Americans now and this is why I do what I do with my music and hair videos and my podcast here. I want to start the conversation and discuss real situations we face and obstacles we have to overcome so many people who can relate to the stories know they are not alone and that we are all hoping and fighting for evolution

Me being half Vietnamese and half white in the south😟 😂 Too Asian for all the kids in my school but too white for my Asian family. Identity crisis for sure! I feel seen and relate to a lot of topics you all touched on!
Thank you for being real with us 🙏🏼 ❤❤ sharing your experience help us all connect
This was an interesting concept. Really enjoyed this video, Guy!!
I did want to say, as far as Asians and driving go. Please come to Las Vegas, Nevada and take a drive on Spring Mountain Road and head West for a couple of miles. Make sure you are insured and sober.
The trauma I experienced driving on that road have scarred me for life!!
In my lifetime, I've had many friends of the Asian persuasion and dated a Japanese man (for about 6 months. His parents didn't like me cause I am Native American & German . LOL)
I have always found them to be very kind and smart AF!! Don't cross them!! They will wait decades to enact their vengeance and that retribution is a great teacher of how NOT to treat anyone!! Fortunately, i have never been on that end of the stick with my friends but one time or another, I have witnessed that "karmic education" lol.
I enjoy everything you are doing, Guy!!
Much love❤😇
Thank you 🙏🏼 so glad you enjoy the podcast and that you can connect with some and many of the topics we discussed. There will be more coming soon and excited to share with you.
Also I love Vegas and it’s so much fun to go and enjoy the amazing food there as well as the shows. I hope to come back soon
From Los Cabos Baja California Sur México ❤
Thanks for watching
Not sure, butda i love the beginning of 1.4min, of just you talking, to know in sum of Guy Tang,
those stereotype happens everywhere, even among Asian, people create it; its like more socialble, less talking, why u keep ur world to yourself and more,
it's not about us, the problem is on people themselves, and they think they are at the better classy side compare to us, haha, living in their hierarchy world, but usually won't last forever, amuse
Thank you 🙏🏼 I’m so glad you love that part of the opening. I have so much to share with you and so glad that I can Xpress that with you. Thank you for your comment and more videos to come
