How to fix mowers front wheel alignment toe out on your Husqvarna, Craftsman, or John Deere.

- QUICK FIX NO WELD NO DRILL NO PARTS. Ask me any questions you have. Fix your mowers front tire toe out mis alignment in just a couple minutes. The metal tabs where the tie rod connect bend back just a little making it hard to drive and steer and have to be straightened. Just a relatively weak part that bends over time. If you are interested in the "Full" version, type it in the comments below and if there is enough interest I will make a video on how to replace the weak piece and reweld a replacement that will never bend again.
Dude. This video needs more exposure. Everybody else is like "Here's a quick simple fix, all you need is a Mig welder, some angle iron, these new ball joint parts, an old priest, three helpers, congressional approval, and this specialty tool I won't name or tell you where to buy."
Haha thanks!
Seriously. Other videos have me ready to buy a whole new assembly

So true!
LOVE this video. I have searched in vain for some adjustment and found none. Never figured it could be this simple!
Awesome
Been struggling with tracking out for ages, scuffing the tyres and the lawn. Thanks to your video, all fixed and no cost ! Thanks from Ireland.
Awesome!
Thank You! My wife drove my lawnmower one time, and when she got through with it, one tire was pointing east and the other west! 😎
Haha, it happens!
😂
I've been fighting my steering wheel for over two years now. THANK YOU. The other videos just show you how to replace the spindle.
@@ohmythatsweird it’s a very common issue the spindles are weak from the factory
By far the best and easiest way to fix the steering on these lawn tractors. Thank you.
Thanks!
Fabulous! I was all set to drill a questionable hole like the other videos suggested but came back in the house for some last minute fine tuning on instructions and just for the heck of it, clicked on one last video, yours. Thank you SIR! Much easier, much faster and much smarter. You earned a sub. Now let's go out and see how she drives.
Awesome! Sadly its a weak part and it will bend over time regardless of replacing it or making an adjustable tierod... I made a second video showing a permanent welding reinforcement. A couple people have suggested I make them and sell the reinforced part.
You MacGyver guy have saved me a bunch of money time and aggravation to fix something this simple that others have not even thought about.Thank you very much for the super easy fix. I will be tuned in for future videos on maintaining this lawn equipment.
Glad it helped!
I finally realized why certain parts of my lawn have been having less and less grass each year for the past couple of years. It's where I turn at the end of a strip of mowing, amd my wheels are toed-out, so the tires have been ripping the grass up! Every single time I turn, one wheel is being forced the drag along the grass!
I have been seeking this fix for years.. I appreciate your every man ingenuity! Thanks for taking the time to show us how it’s done!
Great, simple fix! Edit: never mind the rest of my comment. I watched on a bigger screen and it shows exactly where to put the wrench. Thanks bro! (Old connect: I wish the video showed exactly where the pipe wrench is being applied.)
Amen!!!! Thanks for the info. I searched everywhere and heard all sorts of expensive solutions. Gotta live CZcams. Thanks for the tutorial!👍
This is definitely the easiest way
Thank you! I fixed the toe out on the husky yesterday after seeing your video... super easy ...took me about 20 min. I appreciate the simple but effective fix...no welding or cutting just a little leverage. I used a little longer breaker bar on the plumbers wrench and the wheel hub and was super simple.
This is the easiest and most cost effective repair I have seen for tire alignment. I was heating and bending the steering rods with a BIG hammer. (after flipping the mower on its seat with the front end in the air) I will do this from now on. THANKS for the tip!!!! My back also thanks you!!
Sounds like how I change the blades
The front mower support rod is also bending axle back, drilling a new hole in flat plate on steering knuckle and moving linkage also works well. The newer models have adjustment on both rods. Never seen your method, genius.
What makes the front tire turn out when you put it in reverse
@@danogilbert1775check the bushings in the rims. Lose fit will for sure cause issues in reverse. You can buy replacement bearings for the wheels to replace bushings
@@danogilbert1775the spindle "bearings" are worn. Watch the front end when you do it and you'll see where it's moving.
Oh yea! Was given a Craftsman mower because it tore up his lawn and he couldn't fix it. I struggled for a few hours to figure it out, but no success. Then I stumbled on to your video... Bam! Fixed. Thanks man!
I can't believe I'm just now seeing this after YEARS or tearing it down and using the vice! Tried it a few minutes ago and wow! Big time saver! Thank you!
It work. I was about to buy stering bars. And saw yor video. And wooala it works. Thank you man...
Awesome! If it bends again check out the forever fix czcams.com/video/XW-HYpG3G2g/video.htmlsi=4lrvor6HVogVB0-K
This video will save lives for years to come! Thanks for posting!
Brilliant. Concise and helpful how-to. Solved my problem without having to thumb through too long of a video and listen to too much chit chat.
Thanks man!
Everyone aims for at least 10 minutes because you get an extra Advertisement lol. So even simple stuff gets stretched
Thanks I’m having that issue just ordered all new parts you are a life saver!
Glad it helped
Finally someone figured out what was causing that. 😃
Thank You.
And just so you know if you decide want to replace it just search husqvarna front mower spindle and they are about $15. However the new one will bend just as easy lol
@@diymacgyverguy8054 I noticed it's not that hard to bend. I'm thinking about hooking up my mig welder and reinforcing them somehow.
I'm actually going to upload a video for a permanent fix next week. I'm pretty sure I can just weld a little piece of flat metal between the steering stop and the tie rod attachment point and then it'll never bend again. I'll call that video "the permanant fix"
Damn, glad I found this video!!! Soooooo much simpler than most other videos I’ve watched.
This is definitely an easy way to fix my issue with toe out
Thank you for this video. You saved me from selling a perfect lawnmower. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you again very much.
Awesome!
...Sir,"Much-love from Southern-Illinois!!!...You have saved an old-man much time&expense!!!...Thank-you!!!...Peace...
Thanks! Exactly what I need to do on my old Husqvarna. Great video.
Brilliant, Saved me a fortune, its so hard to get parts in Ireland and shipping from US is so expensive. Thanks for the Video, massive help
Glad it helped
Hats off my friend been fighting this issue for years ...and I'm dam good at fixing them ...and it was so easy the whole time .
This is exactly what I needed to know. Exactly. Thank you.
Haha awesome
Fixing my Girlfriends very old Mower with this problem this weekend. Was going to cut the linkage and put a shaft coupling on it. So thankful I found your better and easier fix. All hearo's do not wear a cape. Thank You Sir!!!!
LOL it is super easy
Thanks for the video, straight to the point no blah blah blah….
Excellent 👏!
Haha, If it bends again watch the permanent fix video too
I've already fixed two tractors with new linkage for a cost of approx $100 each. But, I really like your solution.
Yeah this is way easier
Would love to see the "full" version. Thanks!
Great video ... straight to the point... well illustrated.
Thanks!
Awesome job buddy, in the past I’ve bent those tabs downward slightly towards the front but I like your idea better!
Thanks for the video.Worked like a charm! Was getting ready to heat and bend my steering rods when I came across your video. Thanks again!!
Sweet!
Thanks for the video. My wheels were toed in which made it almost impossible to bend them out. These front ends are pretty much garbage.
Simple fix for a common problem! Supper strong cast iron front cross beam and cheap stamped metal linckage! You also have your 10th sub. I'll be watching for sure. 🦅🦅🦅
Hey I've seen a couple of your videos! I just went to your channel and looks like you had a few videos hit big and went 1k sub 12k really fast! Awesome man!
@@diymacgyverguy8054 Yes, I started getting serious in early 2021 and have had a little run of luck over the past year. I have fun with it and really enjoy sharing and meeting other like minded people more than anything. From what I’ve watched on you’re channel you’re about where I was at the start of 2021. Keep at it and it will take off for you as well. 😁👍
Thanks for the tip on bringing in the wheels straight. It worked perfectly!
Awesome! If they bend again over time check out my permanent fix video
Heck yes..got a mower yesterday and will be doing this today. Love it and will replace front tires too. That should be fun.
Thanks so much for this! I have a horrible toe-out problem with my Deere and every video involved welding, which I can't do, this was much simpler!
Glad it helped, I made a video of both types of fix for people who didnt want to weld.
The only downside is ever time metal is stretched or bent it weakens it so straightening them is the second time to bend then and they are now weaker than the original time. Maybe get them straightened as shown in the video then pull the spindles and take them out to get reinforced? Solve the problem forever and not just a temp fix? Just make sure to brace the side away from the tie rod end which goes over the spindle bracket. Someone must have a welder close by? A bit of scrap steel and bobs your uncle.
This is the BEST video of this fix I have seen, thanks!
Thanks!
Well hell that's a lot easier than what I was trying to do! I was trying to put more bend in the tie rod itself which involves removing the tie rod, but you can't get to the back end of the tie rod.
That's what I was thinking at first too! Then I was like... wait why don't I just bend the tab back? Sadly it's a weakly designed part. I have another video showing me welding a reinforcement onto the tab so it never bends again
Thank you so much for the tips. My mower is out of alignment! I'll try those tips.
I was about to order a new set of spindles but I'm glad I found this first.
Awesome, check out the permanent fix video too for reinforcing czcams.com/video/XW-HYpG3G2g/video.htmlsi=rsLl3BSMmsT624YJ
the best turoial Ive seen... clear and accurate - nice job
Perfect! Simple, easy, to the point. Thanks.
Man, great idea! Been dealing with a bow legged tractor for years
Dude you made it stupid simple. I was going to buy a bunch of stuff I did not need.
Glad it helped
@@diymacgyverguy8054 I did the process this afternoon and it was a snap. Thank you again. I now have front alinement on my mower.
wow, been dealing with this same problem for years now , i just put up with it , thanks to you i now know what to do..
Awesome!
THANK you for this man! You saved my day! I was struggling with this for couple of weeks now...
Bro!!!! THANK YOU!!!! been fighting with this for years with a POS Ariens I have.
Great video--good to find a good ole boy that has his stuff together !
omg i don’t know why it took me so long to look for this video you are amazing thank you sir
Thanks for this video. Simple and straight forward.

Iv been fixing mowers for years. So simple it’s stupid. I wish I’d thought of it. I got one to try this on tomorrow. I usually just swap the steering knuckles but I have a yard full of parts mowers to grab parts off of. Some of these I have found to have broken welds and that’s why they were bent. I guess they took a hard hit and broke rather than bent. So it can happen but your fix probobly will solve a lot of folks issues and that’s what it’s about, helping each other. So in those cases where the welds broke I clamp in vice and straighten best I can and weld.
In one of my videos I bent a Deere body up to replace a tank and some CZcamsrs pooped there pants over the Vidio. Sometimes folks don’t understand these things are cheep and just need some Tuff love once in a while. I love bending stuff so I can’t wait to get out side in the morning and twist some metal.
Haha that's the spirit. I also made a welding reinforcement video too for reinforcing it once you bend it back straight. Little piece of angle does wonders
Thanks man! That's a lot easier than pulling both spindles off!
A lot quicker!
Super helpful and easy to follow, such a great solution, thanks for posting! Can’t wait to fix mine.
To the Point, Simple and Informative! Heading to the garage. Thanks Buddy!!
That was brilliant.. saved me a headache . Good work on the video btw
@@00Widget thanks!
Super easy fix! What a great DYI repair video! Well done.
Thanks
Thank you 🙏 I’m gonna do this to mine tomorrow.
After watching your video, I am going to do the same thing to my craftsman YT3000. Thanks for the video.
TKS FOR THE INFO....I HAVE THIS EXACT PROBLEM...GOING OUT TO "FIX" IT NOW.
Sweet
holy shit........I have a craftsman that we got a few days ago with this EXACT steering setup and problem. I have the pipe just not the pipewrench...................picking one up tomorrow
Muchas gracias señor, saludos desde San Esteban Córdoba Argentina
Well it's a temp fix but one that will serve many so thankyou for that. I think I will use it but then weld some form of strengthening in the under side after so that they can't bend again. I cut about 4 acres sometimes twice a week. Machin had about 900 hours on it and I have a Craftsman Pro that is the mate to it. 26hh54 in cut. Should work on both.
Also they have bearings available on line to replace the front bushings which wear out. They roll easier and this is the second year and no problems with them. I had to replace the bushings and didn't get a year out of the replacement ones, softer material. Another thing I noticed was the bracket you used to jack up with bends over time, mine had to be bent back about 3/4 of an inch so that was affecting deck height and stopped it from lifting to full height. This with a 54 inch deck over rough ground made the machine get stuck several times and they are not light like smaller machines. There is also a shim on the pivot point on the cast front axel that wears along with the plate that bolts it on. I had to put spacers to stop the entire axel from tipping which caused the toe out you were fixing as well. As the axel tips forward it pushed back on the tie rod ends and tips the tires apart. The sad truth these machines are not made for years of use like older machines out there and the newer ones are even worse. Again thanks for sharing tips and ideas, they do help a lot of people. Have a good week, cheers from Canada.
Thanks for the comment, Please check out my "Permanent Fix" video for these spindles. czcams.com/video/XW-HYpG3G2g/video.htmlsi=rsLl3BSMmsT624YJ
Quick and easy. Thanks!
My time saving HERO!! Thanks Brother!!!
Lifesaver! Love your work, cheers.
Thank you, sir. I have a similar Husqvarna that I caught a stump with yesterday, and this did the trick. I noticed that you didn't show the hardest part, putting those plastic caps back on. lol Luckily I bought a hook pick set a few months ago, which really helps.
Sub'd 👍
Use a heat gun to put plastic dust caps on.
Thank you so much for your help and time.
Such amazing quality in the make of these machines now days! Drop 3g for a pile
Haha yeah I'd love if they still made smaller affordable tractors with a little PTO and 3 pt lift. Lawn mower sized ones are like 15 grand
Mine are way out, about to do this now. Much appreciated
I'm your huckleberry?
Cool dude am going to try this today on my old JD……
If i get time this year im going to make reinforced front axles and offer them for sale... see my other videos on permanent reinforcement
Awesome fix. Thanks for sharing!
Cool to know because I believe the Older Craftsman are the same set up!
Tons of brands and mower
Thanks man! This is exactly what I needed to know!
I was about to buy all new spindles but yeah, threw the bar on there with a crescent wrench (not as nice as a pipe wrench) and then its WAY better.
Good practical video.
I had this problem that I thought was caused by bent axles. On closer inspection the chassis was buckled causing the steering tie rods to "lengthen" . The solution was to lift the mower with a front end loader and using sledge hammers take the buckle out of the chassis on both sides. A stiffening plate 50mm EA was used with several bolts to provide a permanent solution. QED
I'm now wondering if my G5600 has a chassis problem; I've replaced all the front linkage and one of the wheels is still toed out too much. I'm going to look for this.
Wow! So your friend was actually bent? I haven't seen that yet what did you hit?
You replaced the spindles? Cause that's the part that bent in my video?
Great video. Will tackle mine tomorrow 👍
Worked like a charm....👍
Thank You So Very Much for this video. it Realy helped me fix my ride on mower. :)
Glad it helped!
Thanks for this - big help!
Great method - thanks for sharing!!
I have an 18 yr old Cub Cadet 25 HP. It has had steering problems almost from day one. The last year I used it the wheels were all over the place. I have installed all new parts to no avail. Finally got it adjusted to where the front wheels are straight going forward, but in reverse the wheels splay out badly in the back. Mower sways side to side in reverse. Damn MTD crap.
Thanks for the video
F@#! Yeah! Thanks for this video, exactly what I needed, straight to the point and no bs chatter about unrelated random crap. Thank you!
Thanks!
there are a couple of nuts that you can undo and adjust it without taking wheels off. the bushes will also go in the wheel which is a whole separate problem
Quick and to the point ty
No some shit don’t it lol smart man!! You gained a new follower
I appreciate this video.
Thanks!
Thank you buddy your a genius !!!!!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!! That's it maaaan!!! Thanks!!
Thanks buddy. This is exactly what I was looking for but I'm not eating you lol
Haha. I left that in there on purpose I thought it was funny
Ain't no way I'm bending the spindle on my Craftsman Gt5000. I was so hoping this wod work but I think this tractor has heavier duty knuckles. The tab on mine looks to be 1/4in steel or maybe 3/16. Great video nonetheless!
