Assembly Hall in Bloomington is an amazing experience. The idea is that basketball is like a play so the seating resembles a theater. The sides tower over the court and funnel the sound down onto the court. It gets very loud. This visual idea is mirrored in the football stadium next door. There are several great arenas in the Big Ten. Purdue up the road also has a loud stadium. I prefer watching a game in Assembly Hall, but a Basketball game anywhere in Indiana is an experience.
It's embarrassing that whenever I see Pauley Pavilion, I'm reminded of the flood that occurred several years and the water cascading down the steps visible at 9:08 of the video. Columbus Blue Jackets play at Nationwide Arena in the downtown core.
Yeah, someone let me know, I should've double checked my work. The company that manages Nationwide arena also manages Values City arena. When I saw that on their site, I assumed they just both played at value city arena. Not to make excuses as they had it clearly written elsewhere, and I shouldn't have just made the assumption, but I think it's interesting to know since I feel like the two arenas are seen as rival venues. This needs to be taken with a grain of salt though as I am not local, but I am just a few hours away from Columbus. Funny enough I made the same mistake in my Big10 hockey video as well before it was pointed out to me. Trying to just learn from my mistake, can't help but laugh at myself sometimes
Sorry and I know I'm babbling here but this sort of highlights the issue for me that all of the corporate named arenas are confusing. Especially with stuff like Alaksa Airlines Center and Alaksa Airlines Arena. I get that it's a way for schools and sports franchises to raise money to build these expensive venues but for me it can take some of the heart and soul out of a venue. Not hating on any venues like that, just simply an observation
Comments like this make me want to put more effort into these videos. I know my quality can improve. Sometimes it's difficult to commit that when you feel like the work goes unappreciated, so I really do appreciate the comment!
Im sorry but Oregon's court design is an eyesore, it looks hideous. They need to change it to something simple if they want it to work. No offense if there are any Duck fans watching this.
Jersey Mike's Arena opened in 1977, not 1997 and is one of the loudest arenas in college basketball. You should visit. The upset was on #1 Purdue.
Sports Venue Time!

Nice video, I think the Big Ten has a bunch of nice Arenas!
The Blue Jackets play at Nationwide Arena a completely different building
Xfinity Center opened the same year Maryland won the national championship.
*Breslin Center for Michigan State University.
Thanks for the correction, do you know when it was changed?
@@_WastedPotential I don't think Jack Breslin ever changed his name! 🤣🤣
blue jackets don't play at Value City they play at Nationwide
