    Debuting in 2022, Celebrity Beyond is the third ship in the Edge class series of cruise ships. It was designed to captivate the hearts of the next generation of cruisers. Beyond impresses with its striking design, featuring a diverse array of technologies, amenities, activities, and dining venues on board. It exudes a unique combination of boldness, muscularity, and elegance. The stacks of the Beyond glisten in the sun like the tailpipes of a sports car, while its unconventional straight bow enhances efficiency and maneuverability through heavy seas. The 90-ton Magic Carpet hovers in the air from the side of the ship, offering a unique experience of floating above the ocean, and the flat windows of the infinite verandas create a smooth and elegant exterior. Today, we are stepping onboard this floating masterpiece to show and tell you everything you need to know about it.

    95% of the guests cannot enjoy the Retreat area because 95% of the guests did not pay for the upgraded amenities of the Retreat area; however it is 100% available for any guest to book, depending on availability. Outside of that, I honestly enjoyed your video; great review!

      Hi Pete! Thanks for your honest feedback. I was trying to emphasize that the front of the ship is an iconic area that should be accessible to everyone. I completely understand your point about the Retreat being exclusive to those who pay for it. After receiving several comments on this topic, I've decided to exclude it from future videos. You won't find this point in my reviews of both the Ascent and Apex. Nonetheless, I truly value your input-it helps me create better content for all viewers. Cheers!

    My wife and I did not fall in love with cruising again until we found the Retreat area on the Edge class ships. We first experienced the Retreat on the Epic and immediately rebooked on the Beyond for a later cruise. Until you experience the Retreat areas don’t knock it. It is what brought us back to cruising and will keep cruising in the future. Celebrity Retreat is a huge positive not a negative as you suggest.

      Thank you for your feedback. Initially, I intended to present the Retreat as a negative aspect from the regular passenger's perspective, but your point of view is quite valid. I'll consider setting aside some funds to book a Retreat room, allowing me to thoroughly review and provide a well-rounded perspective. Your input is much appreciated.

    Your anger or disappointment is misguided- if you want to experience the Retreat- book and pay for the Retreat. It’s a pay to play- it’s like saying, I have only cruised a few times but feel like I should be invited to the Captains Club private parties because, why not? Makes no sense. When you are on a Delta flight and pay for Comfort do you feel you deserve to sit in Delta One? As a reviewer you shouldn’t cast dispersions on something you didn’t pay to experience. I can guarantee that those of us who pay top dollar for Retreat- love it!

    • @tomsunday
      @tomsunday  Před rokem +1

      Brian, my disappointment is not misguided at all. You misunderstood my point. I never said Retreat is bad. I explained that making a cruise into a "pay to play" or "airline" experience is not welcomed by some people. I am not sure how new you are to cruising but it hasnt always been like this. In fact, its why Millenium and Solstice class of ships do not have a dedicated top area for suites. This is a new design choice. Every Celebrity cruise ship has a retreat lounge, luminae and etc. I never had any issues with that. Edge class ships push this envelope by cutting off the top front area of the ship for the guests who payed more. This is where I take issue with this design. I never said anything about getting it for free. I just mentioned that everyone should have access and experienceexperience every part of a cruise ship. On and btw, You can get into Captains Club "private" events after your first cruise! Almost everyone is allowed to go to those, so why not!

    • @user-vi6id5vb1h
      @user-vi6id5vb1h Před rokem +3

      @@tomsunday actually not new in the least- I worked for Celebrity and Princess Cruises for a combined 10+ years and there has always been a pay to play element to cruising. Those who pay the most have always received the bonuses they are entitled to- what has changed is that the pay to play has been elevated and become more prominent and expensive. But for those who can afford it they reap the benefits- the benefits obviously come at a premium and Celebrity has cleverly captured those who want to be wined and dined and served a premium/luxury experience which unfortunately casts the majority of the population of the ship into a more normalized yet elevated experience. Why should everyone have access to the areas reserved for Retreat guests? Not everyone deserves a medal for participation, do they? My point is that Celebrity created experiences and levels so that everyone can have an opportunity to sail on their ships- but those who want the highest level of experience have to pay for it. We all have choices- right? You don’t have to pay too much and get a cabin with a porthole or you can pay a bit more and get a cabin with an infinite Veranda, or you can drain your bank account and enjoy the Retreat- it’s all choices that we make as adults. That said if you can’t afford or want to afford Retreat class that shouldn’t be a negative to the cruise line for maximizing their bottom line. They’re smart, and their suites are full! I guarantee if you tried it you would LOVE it. We only book Retreat class and are headed to an 11 day Med cruise on Thursday!

    • @tomsunday
      @tomsunday  Před rokem +1

      @user-vi6id5vb1h again, I'm not disagreeing with you on any of those points. You are right. In fact, i will be booking a retreat to do a full review on it. Probably next year. My issue is with restricting the top front area of the ship behind a pay wall. Like you said, the extras have always been there. Other ships do it without cutting off premium real estate for other passengers who decided not to drain their bank accounts. That's really my main concern. It feels just like an airline on the Edge (in that regard) and noone likes flying unless you are in first class.

      @@ClashBashing Most cruises are pretty friendly towards kids and will have a club for them, as well as activities. You can drop them off while you go enjoy some adult activities and they will keep them very busy. All of this is included in the price of the ticket.
      Celebrity does have a good kids program and even plans activities based on how many kids will be sailing with them per cruise. You can step it up and cruise with Royal Caribbean if you want to more focus on kid activities. They have mega ships that are like floating theme parks. Not only do those have kid programs but they also have rock climbing walls, surf simulators, sports decks and much more. Ill include a link to my Symphony of the Seas review here. Check it out. Short story is go with Royal Caribbean Mega Ships if you want a more kid friendly activities and go Celebrity if you want more of a chic adult vacation.

We love cruising and have sailed over 20 times on Royal Carib and other lines. I am now concerned about this infinite veranda... I read one comment that said the window will open, can you elaborate on how it opens? I plan to call the cruise line and see about changing rooms to something with a traditional outdoor balcony. Does that mean I will need to upgrade to a suite? Again THANK YOU SO MUCH!

One of them is a full room tour of the infinite veranda. I show you ever single detail about that room. I bet it will answer all of your questions and give you a good idea of what it's like to stay there.
      As far as your question here, there are a few porthole verandas in the front and the back of the ship that have traditional balconies. However they are very view restricted. All of the suites do have balconies as well. You can also opt for a sunset veranda. Those rooms are located in the very back of the ship. They are a bit more money but provide nice views. I hope this helps!

    I just booked this ship for next May. And, there are actually a handful of staterooms that have a traditional outdoor balcony although they are smaller than industry standard. They are called deluxe porthole veranda staterooms. I was lucky enough to to snag one of these. Otherwise, I would have sailed a different line. The infinite verandas are nothing more than glorified oceanview rooms. I'm with you on the Retreat taking up the entire forward sections of the ship...BS. Those folks paid A LOT of money for that...insane. But that said, am looking forward to the cruise.

    The Edge class are not brilliant ships. They have a number of misses and you're correct in not liking the Retreat class taking over valuable real estate AFAIC. Now, this is subjective and the people that love to spend their money on suites think this is fine. But I don't. I have zero use for a suite and choose the inside cabins because I'm not in my stateroom much. I feel most of the ship should have a place to enjoy a front view as that's been a tradition in ships since I can remember. I would relocate the gym and make it an observation lounge on all Edge ships and increase the deck's height to give it larger windows.
    Next problem is the Martini Bar. Very few people who do tours notice the lack of lounges on this class of ship. When you said there are plenty of lounges that is incorrect. Plenty of bars, not lounges. Bars aren't lounges. They're places to get drinks. Lounges include bars but also a large meet and mingle area and interior music lounges aren't really a part of this ship. So, the Martini Bar located in the foyer area gets too loud sometimes. Celebrity is supposed to be more "premium" and have the loud stuff happen in certain dedicated areas. They've gone and placed 3 specialty restaurants above the beats and noise of the Martini Bar so it does impede at times with diners.
    Why does the Solstice have a basketball court and not the Edge ships? And a secondary theater? And an observation lounge? And a before dinner chill out lounge with music? And a library? And a hideout quiet area? The Edge class ships are a bit bigger, right?
    Lots of restaurants but none of them is a supper club. Wouldn't that work on this type of ship. Dine and then drink and dance in an adjacent club like on Princess ships in their Crown Grill and Lounge. Why does HAL have a 95,000 ton ship with 3 venues in a row with music. One features rock, one is a blues/jazz/r&B club and the other has dueling pianos. Where is anything like that on the Edge ships?
    I would redesign so much of this ship and maybe take out a few shops and put in a Karaoke bar. and some small clubs with different ambiances Everything shouldn't be done ihe Club or Martini Bar or a piece of Eden. Other ships have multiple venues for activities that the Edge don''t. Not a brilliant design.

    I wish they made a Edge class ship with conventional Verandas...But I seem to think they will be a thing of the past due to Celebrity saving money on less drag meaning less fuel, meaning more savings...The negative will be soaring cruise fares to pay for these cruise ships.
    Crowd being more loud and active has a lot to do with when you sail, where you sail and how long the cruise is...To be honest, No matter what ship you sail on with Celebrity, if you are sailing while kids are in school and your sailing in Europe then there most likely will be hardly any kids and the crowd more mature.
    If you felt like a 3rd child not being able to access the Retreat, DO NOT EVER sail on a Cunard ship.
    Infinite Veranda for me is the worst part of the ship...A sun room with a window that opens. AAAGGGHHHHH.
    ONE POINT TO ALL....Do not miss the lunch in Eden on a sea day...Get the Prime Rib sandwich, it is complimentary.

      @@tomsunday My wife and I did that cruise 3 times...Once on the MV Horizon, MV Zenith and once on the Summit...Note that the small ships dock on Front Street in Hamilton not Kings Warf which 20 years ago was so much better...All the shops now in Kings Warf in a one story mall type buildings were all located on front street right in the heart of Hamilton...The ship was docked directly across from Front street...Bermuda has changed so much from the first time we went there...Bermuda had no graffiti, hardly any crime, my wife and I walked around at midnight in Hamilton, I would not advise that now...mostly what changed is that he Bermudian Government use to consider tourism number 1, they catered to tourism, Now it is Banking...So many people came to Bermuda to open banks, And with the people coming to open up banking are also their families with kids..well Their kids have grown up and with it, drug smuggling, robberies, graffiti...Don't get me wrong Bermuda still is beautiful, but alot has changed.
      Points of interest in Bermuda...
      1- Try to go to their courts and watch a court proceeding including men wearing powdered wigs just like in Jolly ole England.
      2- Not far from front street, is a movie theater, what makes this one special, it is the worlds smallest theatre...
      3- In St George do not miss the town crier and the Chair dunking...
      4- Everyone goes to Horseshoe Bay...But IHMO, the most intimate beach is in St George, Do Not miss Tobacco Beach...so small and so beautiful....
      5- Make sure you see the Bobbie directing traffic in the bird cage in Hamilton on front street...
      They use to have a excursion to a Pirate Island...It was great, not sure if they do that or not anymore. I know they have a show in Kings Warf at night, we did that one last time we went, It was OK, But nothing like that Pirate Island excursion years ago.
      6- If you can get seasick, this will be the cruise you get sick on, going past North Carolina can be extreme....
      In any even take in all that Bermuda has to offer...my wife and I rented a Moped, the easiest way around the Island...But I am experienced using a moped on the opposite side of the street...there have been plenty of people having fatal or near fatal moped crashes because they think it is easy driving in the opposite direction.
