I just had mine today. I was scared really bad before i went in, but it wasn't as bad as i thought. They lay you on the table and insert the IV. They will first take a picture without contrast. Then the lady comes back in and says, okay this is the contrast part. At that point i freaked out because it scared me to know i was being injected with this dye crap. She said i would feel a warm sensation. As soon as the dye was injected i felt a hot sensation starting in my chest, and spreading through my upper body allbthe way down to my pelvis area. Not going to lie, it was uncomfortable feeling that, but it only lasted 50 seconds and it was over...the whole CT scan lasted 10 minutes and it was over. It's been 6 hours since i had it done and i feel fine. Please dont be scared, it's not as bad as you think it is going to be i promise. Just breath and you will be fine. I got dizzy sitting up but that's normal from going from a laying down to sitting up position. Hope this helps someone. Oh and the hot sensation when it reaches your pelvis it feels like you're peeing on yourself, but its not i promise lol.
I did my CT scan with contrast in the vein today, I was so scared when I went inside the room and cried my eyes out! They made me sign to a consent stating that I might have sever reaction so I was so scared. But the truth is there were no pain by any means during the process, I didn’t feel anything when they injected the contrast it was like a normal drip feeling, thank God I didn’t have any side effects, i went out normally like nothing happened. They advised me to drink too much water like 3L and I did. Please don’t be scared in case you really have to do it like me. God bless you all 💕
Marita, I do appreciate your clarification. I have read in different sites that the patient will be asked to remove any jewelry for the procedure. It is an X-Ray machine. Thanks for your reply.
Contrast stays in your system for 24 hours or more. Drink 8 to 10 cups of water. Side effects head aches, nausea and more. Make sure you flush that out.
2nd one today in a year, first one i passed out when they put canula in my hand, was ok this time as I was laying down and they put it in my arm, as for the contrast it feels weird but not painful you can feel it go in your arm and then you get a metallic taste in your mouth followed by a hot rush in your groin area
when he went back into the room after her scan, she did not have her IV in her arm, it was not straight above her head, the pillows were not in the same position and she was not connected to the IV holder 'thing'.
I had mine a few days ago. It went by fast. Just the barium stuff I drank going down the road was ok. It was better then it use to be and smelled like vanilla. I'm hoping they can get other flavors. For the IV I'm glad I was laying down. I get light headed real easy. It helped to drink a lot of water the day before and I hope it was ok to do small weights. Other then that it's was better then it use to be. I had one when I was younger now 30.
yeah the drink os digusting . first time I had it I nearly gagged.. The injection ismt as bad imo. ive heard some people suffer side effects (usually mild, such as some nausea) but I guess im lucky. .. ive had at least a dozen of these scans now and would like to tell anyone who is sceduled to have one of these scans and is worried about it that the procedure is usually quite quick and painless.. just relax and go to a happy place and youll be fine :)
that was very helpful av had mine and it was as accurate as this was perfect service I didn't feel anything when the dye was injected for the organs so DON'T WORRY IT' IS OK
This Video was exactly what I needed to see going into Rad Tech. YAY! I didn't know you had to stick people and you need a lot of patience dealing with the patients asking a lot of questions. But hey, if you know what your doing , it's just doing and saying.
Instead of just asking about allergies, wouldn't a more practical method be a blood sample to be tested prior to the appointment or a scratch test? Asking them if they are allergic to the medium is pretty pointless unless they have already experienced the procedure or similar procedure involving the medium beforehand, surely there is a test that can be done in advance a bit like a blood type test (based on the same principle).
thank you for the info... My question is...is it the same procedure used to ct scan on the right foot?... My doctor told me to have ct scan with contrast on my right foot.
In fact is not really an CT wit Contrast Media . First of all doctor does not attach the I.V. sonde to the hand. Second , if you see at the and of the movie from automatic injection device is missing the recipient with Contrast Mediat hat at the first it was there .
It's a CT scan, no need for removing earrings or the watch. I think you are confusing this with an MRI. The zipper on the pants I would have removed though, it could cause artefacts (stripes) in the images. M.B, radiographer.
+Becky B Hi Becky, I am a CT tech and I'd be happy to answer your question. The oral contrast solution of contrast and water, and the IV contrast achieve two different things. The IV contrast is used in order to highlight blood vessels, highly vascularized pathologies like tumors and metastases, and also to better visualize the urinary system as the kidneys filter the contrast out of the blood stream and then sends it to the bladder, thus allowing the radiologist to get a good functional study of those structures. Two scans of the abdomen are typically done with a 5 to 10 minute delay between them in order to see the anatomy with the contrast and to see it after it has washed away. The oral solution of contrast and water is used to expand structures in the digestive tract and to coat the interior of the anatomy with contrast, enabling the better visualization of the structures.
This is a bad reenactment. First off the guy is hard to understand, and secondly he doesn't follow the process as it's done, instead it seems he's trying to remember everything from memory and suddenly thinking of things he's left out. A CT will allow you to stay in your clothes, and if the doctor has ordered a CT with contrast the IV will have been started before you even get to the CT room. For the poster concerned about metal, as someone else pointed out metal is not as much a concern with CT as with MRI. MRI doesn't use Xrays but instead uses magnetic fields thus why MRIs cant have metal around them when in use.
EmanMorrison Only have to remove them if that's the part of the body to be CT'd. Just like a regular x-ray metal will show up on the picture. However they make you take them off for all MRI's do to the magnetic pull of the MRI.
Child of God and Daughter Of Jesus in all actuality she could have worn a sport bra with no metal and clothes with no metal such as jigging pants and t shirt. I have had several and some try to make you strip while others tell you you are fine. I wear these for all stays, st scans and refuse to change. Told me they might have to give more radiation. So I will take that chance. For contrast I am allergic to it. Have to take medicine starting day before.
because her shoes pass the scan, and the watch is behind her head, if she had a ct scan of her head, she would also need to remove her earrings and her watch. But i think she was just hired to this movie for what to expect during the ct scan. but you are right to remove metal things before entering a ct.
The re-enactment is well done but you certainly missed the fact that the patient went in with all the earings and the watch. What about the possible zipper of the pants. I wold be a little concerned to pass this test with metal on my arms and earing. It should be corrected if you intend to let it on You Tube. M.N.K.
she got a better consultation and I did the dose of radiation for the abdomen is 200 times or more than a normal x-ray that's a lot there should be paperwork with this exam so you can literally look it over I got neither and I would have never went through with it especially afterwards the way I felt and the way I still am feeling oh yeah these at me 3 times the abdomen the crotch and the chest all I needed was the abdomen

Rumi Rumi just make sure it doesn't have wires
Ava Birkin thanks
Ava Birkin do u mean electric wires?
Rumi Rumi like underwire of a bra. it'd be better to just wear a sports bra
She reminds me of Alice from the Brady Bunch. Good video. I am having a scan this sunday. I feel less anxious thanks to this video.

I have to do mine tomorrow and I’m super scared
@@ashleyy-gx5fr you will be ok by the well of God ♥️ don’t worry 😘
Thank you for your comment. It has eased my anxiety for my test tomorrow.
Marita,
I do appreciate your clarification. I have read in different sites that the patient will be asked to remove any jewelry for the procedure. It is an X-Ray machine.
Thanks for your reply.
thank you for this video. I'm having my first scan next week, I feel less anxious and informed now.

Jeremy Jeremy worse part for me was the barium drink before
when he went back into the room after her scan, she did not have her IV in her arm, it was not straight above her head, the pillows were not in the same position and she was not connected to the IV holder 'thing'.
Love the great acting! LOL!

I have had this kind before - I didnt like taking the drink it tasted nasty. - I find ct scans and xray scans very very scary :(

Thank goodness I found this one! Now I just have a few questions to ask.

Now the IV part I did not get but my understanding the IV is also radioactive so you get the double whammy
THANK YOU for uploading this.
very healthful ... thank you for this video
first 30 sec he broke hippa laws.
^ HIPAA
+Chris Hill yeah my bad.

thats sensible
thank you for the info...
My question is...is it the same procedure used to ct scan on the right foot?...
My doctor told me to have ct scan with contrast on my right foot.
That was the worst hand washing I have ever seen.
HIPAA Violation big time by calling her full name in the waiting room.
lmao i caught that too
what about rectal contrast?
how do you tell that properly to a distressed patient?
great information thanks a lot.
It is not loud at all like an MRI...
Don't drink that shit! My sister had one of these and she got REAL sick as soon as she left to go home.
In fact is not really an CT wit Contrast Media . First of all doctor does not attach the I.V. sonde to the hand. Second , if you see at the and of the movie from automatic injection device is missing the recipient with Contrast Mediat hat at the first it was there .
Cool
vow ,sir very good explanation , can you please upload an vedioe of CT protocols for various clinical indications
I really don't think I should be watching this as I have to go get a scan on my brain today. I'm scared of an IV.
Mary Winder how'd u do?!
The contrast injection feels so weird man.
i think this was very helpful..seeing im only little to understand the doctor

The zipper on the pants I would have removed though, it could cause artefacts (stripes) in the images.
M.B, radiographer.
shes too in character
Dawsony
Is not.
Why did she get so much IV liquid? When I had my scan I had the contrast once through the IV once. Nothing else. She had a drink twice and then that.
+Becky B Hi Becky, I am a CT tech and I'd be happy to answer your question. The oral contrast solution of contrast and water, and the IV contrast achieve two different things. Dallas Boisen
thank you
I didn't get anything to drink, I got no shots, and I wasn't asked any questions. Just slide in and out.
It is an x ray
Can I leave my clothes on ? Please I have one next week

I reckon they ask women to take off their bras since they have metal wires which affect the scans.
EmanMorrison
Only have to remove them if that's the part of the body to be CT'd. Just like a regular x-ray metal will show up on the picture. However they make you take them off for all MRI's do to the magnetic pull of the MRI.
interesting

Thanks
Or can I put a house coag over the gown
Surprised she was allowed to keep her shoes on. Guess different practices use different methods.
Child of God and Daughter Of Jesus in all actuality she could have worn a sport bra with no metal and clothes with no metal such as jigging pants and t shirt. Get a mri instead. The risks are less
All hospitals use orange.
Why does she have shoes and her watch on??
because her shoes pass the scan, and the watch is behind her head, if she had a ct scan of her head, she would also need to remove her earrings and her watch. But i think she was just hired to this movie for what to expect during the ct scan. but you are right to remove metal things before entering a ct.
She is wearing a watch and earrings
Did he just did a CT without closing the fucking door?
The re-enactment is well done but you certainly missed the fact that the patient went in with all the earings and the watch. What about the possible zipper of the pants.
