There were many body guards surrounding her as she was under death threats. Very impressive and charismatic speaker. Wonderful occasion. Thank you Christ Church Grammar School Claremont WA.

The things that distinguishes the west isn’t it’s failures, which are admittedly numerous and horrific but nonetheless seen elsewhere, worldwide and throughout history. The thing that distinguishes the west is in its overcoming those shortcomings in a way that wasn’t seen in the rest of the world. It’s so discouraging for me (a South Korean) that I have become a more unapologetic defender for the US and see its qualities better than many current day US citizens, whether it be because they’re too scared to say otherwise, or they’re brainwashed by current day liberal ideologies.

Ayaan Hirisi's experience with Islam, is that, hers. I grew up Orthodox Muslim and we loved our Jewish, Christian neighbors. I was never taught hate.
Regimes in the Middle East today are not perfect reflections of Islam whatsoever. They are like any country, which have politcial, social, economic interests that go beyond spirtuality and what Islam truly stands for, but rather state/personal inerests.
Its sad that she paints nearly 2 billion Muslims as a monolith.
The best thing a person can do is educate themselves. Read, listen, dicusss. Dialectical conversation is important, understanding opposing views is necessary to not only better understand ourslves but others who we share this world with.
It makes sense why she is against Islam, because she wasnt taught true Islam. She grew up in oppresison, it is understandable why she has made such strong associations therefore.
I appreciate hearing differing views, people should speak their truth, so i can respect her human expeience.
I just wish people would read the Quran and the Bio of Muhammad (peace be upon him). Islam is agianst honor killings and violence against women, yet you find that practiced in certain Middle Eastern countries, why? Because of ignorance, ironically- lack of Islamic knowledge, and old cultural practices that have laced themselves within religious beliefs.

I only just found out that any and all instrumental music is considered haram/forbidden in a lot of traditional Islam. I was heartbroken for them

What I love most about Ayaan is that even with her experiences, she speaks out against both female AND male genital cutting.
People, specially americans: go back to yojr roots! Go back to your faith. There is a literal war outside and you have to have the tools to fight back!
No matter your religion, go back to it, teach your kids to have faith in your G-d, to be thankful, to do hard work and fight for tour family and country.
If you are not a believer, you have it easier: do not do what you dont wanna be do to you in the first place.

Ayaan is not Muslim. She left it long ago. Islam took her " body part" you know fgm. She is trying to expose islam so people leave it. To help her cause here Is sahih muslim 2922. Look it up.
She left Islam, now Christian.
