    What's wild to me is that Lindy was basically accounted for by other campers at all times, hard to believe she faced a mob like that who refused to believe the testimony regarding her whereabouts, instead focusing on 6 minutes when she was unloading things from the car. Damn dingos!

      With the timeline, it would literally be impossible for jer to kill her baby and get rid of her unless everyone in the camp helped. That's why they came up with the bogus 'blood' in the car to set her up

    It's literally terrifying how quickly these "experts" come out and just spew garbage, like the definition of the baby's name, and people just accept it without question. The dude who picked up a bucket of sand in his mouth and presented it as proof a dingo couldn't do it?--stupidest thing I've ever hear. Why his colleagues didn't laugh him out of the room is just crazy. Also, the claims that Lindy didn't react react "normally"? Who can say how a person will act in these circumstances. Everyone is different. She was said to be religious and maybe that's how strong her beliefs were. I know people these days can't really relate, but some people have a strong faith to get them through.
    It wasn't just the press and the authorities. People who harassed them are just as awful.

    As an autistic person I can only too easily draw parallels between the behavior criticized by the authorities and the behavior I also exhibit during times of stress. Talking about things matter of factly is one of the main ways I'm able to get through some of the toughest times I've experienced and the thought that my grief or anguish would only be taken seriously if I showed it in a way that would break me is something I always have to be afraid of.

    This is exactly why all of our justice systems are flawed. We are all human and we judge people based on our own perceptions. You can have 50 "experts" say different things. You can have a jury that is swayed by sympathy, anger or any number of their own issues. On the other hand, having only a judge decide leaves you at risk of bias and corruption. I believe all serious crimes should be decided by a panel of 12 judges. Just like a jury, it has to be unanimous. No saying a few agree and a few don't, so good enough. Maybe there's a better way, but it's my best guess.
    Our court systems are full of games, lies, twisting of facts and a desire to win. It's not in the best interests of justice to keep things the way they are. We only hear about the big cases, but what about all the cases we don't hear about where the same things happen. Regular people don't have the resources to fight against any of that.

    • @melaniecarver5719
      @melaniecarver5719 Před 10 měsíci

      Every system is full of "games, lies, twisting of facts and a desire to win". All of them--the press, the government, the church. It's not just the justice system. In the end, the average person is the loser.
      I feel like any more people cannot critically think about anything or consider any opinion that might go against their pre-conceived ideas. It's as if the chance a person could be wrong about something is the worst thing in the world.

    • @naomiledger1374
      @naomiledger1374 Před 6 měsíci

      Not to tar all in the judicial system with the same brush, but there is no doubt that there is something of a club mentality in the lofty seats of power, where no 'expert' wants to be wrong, and fiercely held positions of authority are bought for the right price, all at the expense of everyone below them. Seems it's always been that way and likely always will be. At least if they didn't call it justice it might not feel so ludicrous.

    THE greatest SHAME of the majority of Australian public. Trial by Media !! I was 23 when this occurred. Most of the time I recall being appalled by the overall public dialogue. It was a good lesson for me in learning our Justice system cannot be trusted, how easily people will allowed themselves to be convinced by the LOUDEST voice... Even now little has changed. One only has to look & listen at current conversations in the public domain... EG: Race and Religious belief systems. It would be good to know as a Nation we've grown & matured as a society ... Or do we just wipe these instances away as being " Human Nature , & we're innately flawed "; oh well ho hum !

    This was one of the first times that our media persecuted an innocent woman based on gossip and sensationalism. After this story was played out in 1980 and the intervening years, so many Aussies lost faith in our news. It was rammed down our throats that she was guilty.

    I feel like in this case the judge forgot to tell the jury "make sure you affirm a conviction behind a reasonable doubt" and it was more like "well, what do you feel probably happened" It doesn't even matter what was more likely, we shouldn't put people in prison just because we are 60% sure they did this or that, or even 90% for that matter.

    Haven't watched this vid. yet but looked at many others and my current opinion is:- finding of the matinee jacket means nothing as it could have been planted at any time and placed so well that it took 6 years to find. Of course Lindy would have said that the child was wearing the jacket when taken by a dingo, same as if the child had been wearing it when killed whether by accident or otherwise. Dingoes would not likely enter a tent with other humans in it. No dingo killings of this nature before or after. I think that Lindy and Michael are guilty of something and it reeks of the Deorr Kuntz scenario. And lastly, although Lindy never saw a dingo, nor anyone else, she immediately said that a dingo took the baby, as though having pre-planned that exclamation, knowing beforehand that the baby was NOT there. And if wrapped in many blankets for the cold, less chance of any dingo smelling anything of interest, including inside a tent. Lindy killed the child!!

    Here's why I think they did it. A baby being carried away from a campsite in a dingos mouth would be wailing and that would have been heard by the entire campsite. No one reported hearing anything.

      They did hear the baby. Briefly.
      The only part of Azaria was her face, as she was bundled with several blankets. A 9-week old skull hasn't fused; it's still delicate. The jaw of a dingo can easily grab the head of a baby and crush it before it can go into full cry.

      The dingo more than likely gave the baby a very violent shake, probably breaking her neck instantly. One cry was heard, and a few women there heard her cry out, so did Azaria's father. One or two women also said the cry seemed to have been cut off as quickly as it started. This means that baby Azaria was killed very quickly by the dingo, which are intelligent superb hunters with incredibly powerful jaws. People need to stop thinking "dog."

      Experts testified that the act of taking the baby in his mouth would have instantly killed the baby. She did let out a cry initially which drew Lindy's and the campsite members attention, but would have been killed seconds later

    The one time ministers behave consistent with their trust in God it raises absurd suspicions.
    Also, I think, it's much easier to accept your baby was killed by nature / accident, then by some asshole humans who should know better.

    Adds should be spread out a bit. I'm a creator and know ad spacing is controlled by channel owners. Narrowly spaced ads simply means whoever practices it does not really care about the listeners' enjoying the content as long as they can force paid subscriptions. You already have the podcast ads on multiple platforms. Why ad spam?

      Babies can change their hair colour, just like their eye colour, quite quickly.
