- 21 yrs ago, one of the worst school shootings happened in Colorado. The Columbine High School Massacre has become one of the most infamous events in America. I take you to Columbine High School and show you where all of the victims were killed and show you inside the school (including the library).

To those who thought Dylan killed more, I put the official report at 25:13 if you want to see it. On that report, it shows Eric killed 7, Dylan killed 2 and they killed 4 together. Also, I was wrong on where Rachel's body was found. Her body was right by the entrance but they had dragged her body where I said it was.

Austin Eubanks died of an overdose in 2019. He never returned to columbine and was homeschooled till he graduated in 2000. He struggled with staying sober since the massacre. He was shot twice and his best friend was killed in front of him. The level of life long trauma inflicted upon those who survived is something that needs to be talked about more. Truly sad. Same with the mother of Carla Hochhalter.

Carla was the mother of Anne Marie Hochhalter. Reading her story made me feel so sorry for Anne Marie as she was really put through the wringer after the shooting at Columbine High School. Aside from being paralyzed from the shooting and having to get used to life in a wheelchair; Anne Marie also had to deal with the stress of media intrusion. Though the biggest blow Anne Marie suffered occurred six months after the shooting when her mother Carla committed suicide. This was extremely upsetting for Anne Marie as she not only had to grieve the suicide of her mother but also had to deal with the renewed stress over media intrusion. When asked if Columbine drove her mother to commit suicide; Anne Marie is quick to say no and explains that her mother had struggled with Depression for years, so while Columbine didn't cause her mother to become depressed or commit suicide it didn't help her either. Shortly after Dylan's mother Sue Klebold published her book "A Mother's Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy" Anne Marie published an open letter to Sue on Facebook that was of forgiveness instead of condemnation. Anne Marie explained that her decision to forgive Sue Klebold stemmed from the realization that holding onto the feelings of anger and hatred towards Sue was doing nothing for her aside from weighing her down. Following the publication of Sue's book and her sitting down with ABC News anchor Diane Sawyer on "20/20" Colorado Attorney General Cynthia Coffman took to the Twitter account for the state's attorney general's office and Tweeted that Sue's interview was "irresponsible and inflammatory" adding in a separate tweet that by speaking out Sue Klebold won't be preventing future school shootings and would instead indirectly inspire other mentally unstable teenagers to lash out at their classmates and teachers the same way her son did on April 20th, 1999. Anne Marie's dad Ted Hochhalter chewed out Cynthia Coffman for what she said and explained that someone in as high of a position of power as hers shouldn't have such a dismissive and flippant attitude towards mental illness or school shootings and school violence in general. Ted also explained that not talking about the aforementioned issues and pretending that they don't exist won't make the problem go away. I agree with Mr. Hochhalter and I also find it extremely unprofessional of Cynthia to use the Twitter account for her place of employment instead of her own personal Twitter account.

These 2 but jobs had access to guns, one stated a week as had a website stating he wanted to kill specific people, and they both made a videos depicting them in trench coats in the school looking crazy with guns and nobody including the other students did nothing and still in 2023, were passing out guns to anybody.
There was also John Savage, who hid under the library tables, and actually talked to Dylan Klebold during the shooting. He was spotted under the table, and identified himself to Dylan because he figured he knew him a little (and "wasn't a threat"). Their conversation went as such:
*John:* (Nervously) Hey, Dylan. What are you doing?
*Dylan:* ( _Sigh_ ) Just killing people.
*John:* Huh...Are you gonna kill me?
*Dylan:* What? (because of the smoke alarms)
*John:* Are you gonna kill me?
(Pause, Dylan in contemplation)
*Dylan:* Nah, man. Just go; run.
Savage did just that, and ran as fast as he could out of the school.
No,he first encountered Eric and Dylan heard them talking and Dylan recognized Savage's voice and came over to them. That's when all the things you have wrote happened

He said he was hiding under the table and Eric yelled “Who’s under there??”
And John said
“It’s John” and then Dylan came over and Eric said “John Savage?”
And he said

Eric walked away and Dylan stood there and John goes “hi Dylan.. what are you doing?”
And Dylan goes “just killing people”
And then John goes
“Are you going to kill me?”
And then Dylan goes
“What???”
And then John goes
“I said are you going to kill me?”
And then Dylan stands there and then goes “no run get out of here”
And John because of shock just stares at him and then Dylan went
“RUN!! RUN!!”
and then John got up and ran.
@@psycho9539 They did not shoot John Savage. in John's statement in the 11k about his experience in the library, Eric would point his gun at John under the table, and then John would move so the gun wasn't pointing at him. Then Eric would point the gun at him again, and John would do the same thing and move away. Eric says "identify yourself!", and that leads to the dialogue between the two. And when he told him to "RUN", he wasn't phrasing it as a personal threat. He still thought their bombs in the commons might go off.
Dave Sanders wasn't killed in the hallway, but he was shot there. He died in a nearby science lab, hours later. That's quite an important detail because it ties into the issue of emergency response

24 years later and we don't truly know their motive, however this has inspired mass shootings like, parkland, Sandy hook, randy stair Weis market, Virginia tech and many more

I especially feel bad for Kyle Velasquez. He enjoyed working with computers but was mentally disabled and didn’t know what was happening. It’s bad to kill anyone, but killing the handicapped is among the worst murders to commit. RIP to all 13.

I am a very visual person and it is very helpful when crimes that are of biblical proportions such as this are broken down in this way. Because of the magnitude of such crimes they seem kind of blurry and difficult to sort out. This kind of video helps broaden my scope of where,when, and how. Because I truly want to know. Thank you. As a Columbine senior present that day, it still feels the same even after all these years. It blows my mind that even after this long, people are still so touched by it and effected by our tragedy. I can speak for us all when saying that it means a lot and still helps us in our healing process, even 22 years later. I appreciate how sensitive you were to the deceased and how you made sure to point out some of the details that the Media still gets wrong. So many stories have been told that aren't true and it's nice hearing some people actually doing the work to find the real truth.
Every once in a while, my twisted way of healing is to Google my maiden name and Columbine, just to see what new information has been created, things maybe I've missed in the news, etc and this time I found you lol. @Anti Masonic @Anti Masonic oh goodness, I've heard many but never mannequins. I can confirm that there were no mannequins harmed in that experience 😉👍🏽 Just real people, no dummies or props needed that day unfortunately. Considering I walked out of the choir room, down the stairs, through the lunch room & commons area, out the double doors and through the student parking lot just minutes before the first shots were heard...Im pretty confident that there weren't any mannequins anywhere that day. Mystery solved lol.
I dont remember a Robert Perry but that doesn't mean I didn't know him if he was a classmate, I just don't remember everyone now, 20+ yrs later as I did then. But I can assure everyone that there were only 2 shooters that day and Eric & Dylan were the dicks doing it. For a while there, meaning a few days afterwards, we had a couple people in mind that many of us thought may have known it was going to happen when it did but after many interviews and discussions with investigators, it was confirmed that our suspicions were wrong and those individuals were just as surprised & devastated as the rest of us. It's hard to understand how those two did all that all alone and to this day, I believe more people knew or at least had an idea of what Eric & Dylan wanted to do but I don't think any of them truly believed they'd pull it off, ya know? Who could ever really believe that? Even if they talked about it everyday, even then...we were kids...I would've never truly believe it would happen and neither did they. Until it did. And those individuals talked to authorities and told what they knew or heard but nobody really thought they'd hurt people.
Satanists? I don't know what they felt deep down inside and nobody ever will but I think their notes, journals & actions tell us where their heads were at. From what I knew of them, I don't think so but I didn't know them intimately, just as classmates and the occasional smoke-break buddy when we'd sneak out of class to have a cigarette behind the school and I never sensed evil in them. Never once.
Eric was very kind to me, even sharing cigarettes on multiple occasions. So, when you hear that they were racists, I don't think that's fair. Only 1 person claims they heard them call Isaiah the N word before shooting him and that person holds they key to this rumor 🙄 Maybe they did but I'm here to tell everyone that I'm black...mixed race black & white and Eric & Dylan shared cigarettes with me without hesitation. We'd tell our English teacher we needed to pee, meet at the end of the hall and sneak outside together to smoke. All 3 of us, at least twice a week, without race ever being an issue. They were nice to me and I'm black 😉 So there's that. Not saying they didn't say those things that day, just sayin...

They were partners in crime and neither one of them is more or less responsible than the other. They plotted and carried this out together. A true criminal dyad. They just had major differences in their pathology’s.

It could be as simple as one having more practice at firing a weapon than the other. But we don’t know and it really doesn’t matter. Both were involved in the planning and execution of this attack. And either one could have put the brakes on it as well but neither did. So just because one killed more than the other doesn’t mean the other one didn’t intend for more to die at his hands. In the end who’s bullet killed who is irrelevant, because they both made it possible for the other to kill in the first place.

I was a new bride in '99 and when this happened it was then my husband and I decided to homeschool our children. It was one of the best decisions we ever made. I'll never forget that day.
I am not for homeschooling. And my wife even as a former teacher is not for homeschooling... That being said, every single time we hear about a school shooting or even a gun being brought to a school we tense up and wonder what route we should go with our young children. The MAIN thing that makes us a little less worried is that I'm not aware of a single notable school shooting occurring in my area or even state. But I am very aware that could change in an instant!

Following the shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida back in 2018 a former coworker of mine named Lauren expressed concern about her young son starting school in a few years time; in an effort to be helpful I suggested to Lauren that she put her son in a private school.
@@MichaelLovely-mr6oh I would agree that private school's seem to be involved less with mass shootings, but they aren't without the similar risk. That one a few months back in TN would be a very recent example, the one where the school was blessed by the fantastic response by police. Not saying Lauren shouldn't have her kids in school, just that private school may not necessarily be any safer...

Dave Sanders didn't die immediately he was still alive for a few hours but the paramedics didn't get to him in time.
Every death gets to me but Dave if they went in faster he would have been alive he saved so many people
@@khloeconlin If the police had acted sooner more lives would have been saved. They were outside of library listening to the kids being murdered and they never once went in they knew exactly where the shooters were because they were in a fire fight with them. They waited for hours before mustering up the courage to go in. They say that they saved many kids that day that's not true at all. Patrick Ireland crawled out of the 2nd story window and they caught him. Daniel was dying on the sidewalk and they didn't bother to get him to safety

When I was in high school, there was this program/presentation called "Rachel's Challenge". It was about Rachel Scott, and how her message of spreading positivity and kindness could lead to a chain reaction of the same. That was how we learned about, not only Rachel, but about Columbine High School, and how it all happened. Her dad and her brother (Craig Scott) were at the assembly, and made sure we took it upon ourselves to follow her example.
Craig Scott was under the same table as Isaiah and Matt at the library. He watched them get shot right beside him, and tried to play dead as best he could. Thankfully he's alive to tell the tale.
I definitely remember the “Rachel’s Challenge” at school, we would all draw our hand prints on paper, and write down things on the hand. We would also do “Rachel Rally” where everyone got together to rally together to stop bullying and become friends! There was also her brother Craig who actually came to our school and told the story about the whole incident!

Great detail. I had just turned 26 years old a couple of weeks before the shooting in 1999. I've never seen this much detail on the events of this day. Thanks for posting this video. When I graduated from high-school in 1991, school shootings were unheard of.
I remember this day. I had friends in that school and all the other schools went on lockdown, including mine. That day changed all of us. Still cant believe those boys did this. I remember going to the school after the shooting and the victims cars were still there covered in flowers. It was so emotional and devastating.

dylan let one kid who was hiding under a table go because he knew him...the kid asked "hey dylan what are you doing" to which dylan replied "oh just killing people"...the kid said "you're not going to kill me are you?"...dylan said "nah just run...i said run!" the kid escaped without being shot...

Yep john savage was very lucky that day. Same with brooks brown. Brooks could have been the 1st victim but it sounds like brooks confirmed that Eric and him became friends again after the ice throwing incident and he said they buried the hatchet and were friends again.

Littleton, Colorado is where I'm from and I just want to say thank you for not treating our local school like a tourist trap. I'm not going to lie, I was cringing at first because I thought you somehow got into the school. Thank you for not doing so; police have to sit by that school constantly with how many people try to get into the school. I'm glad that the library doesn't exist anymore and that the school went through major renovations after the school.
But thank you, again, for not treating this like a tourist destination. It means a lot to me; Littleton is such a boring little suburb and I hate that 21 years later, this is all it's remembered for.

A few years ago there were discussions of possibly tearing down Columbine High School but ultimately the decision was to leave the building standing. This decision I respect because if the school board and the community voted in favor of demolishing Columbine High School it would be essentially pretending that the tragedy never happened.

What I was talking about occurred in 2019 when after the threat by Sol Pais; there were discussions among the school board and community leaders about tearing down Columbine High School and rebuilding the campus. I watched a segment about the 20th anniversary of the tragedy on the "Today" show on NBC wherein Hoda Kotb interviewed Rachel Scott's mother and brother along with the school's former principal Frank DeAngelis and three former Columbine students who have returned as teachers. Noelle Sudano- who was in her Sophomore year at the time of the tragedy- remembered her first day back quite vividly because there were lines of parents on the sidewalk to shield the students on their way into the building.

This was my senior year and I remember watching this unfold in the library at my school. RIP to all those who lost their life that day.
Such a heartbreaking and senseless tragedy. I remember being at work in a grocery store in Maryland when this happened in 1999. I was twenty at the time and was very saddened by it. My condolences to the victims and their families.
I was in fourth grade and our teachers wouldn't tell us till after lunch what happened. We did a flag ceremony for the fallen the next day.
There's no such thing as a senseless tragedy.
I remember stopping for happy hour after work at McFly's in Upland and watching the whole aftermath on KTLA channel 5....it was just insane. But I remember having this feeling that it wasn't that shocking. Weird, I know. The media kept blaming the Sony PlayStation and stuff like that.

I appreciate that you used nothing to create a more sensationalistic or exploitative retelling of this story, no moody musical score or lingering on details around the gore in this very sad and disturbing event. Thank you for the overall respect you've shown to all impacted by this day in your decision to limit images showing bodies to those very small and pixellated photos that indicate the location of the fallen and no more. For anyone seeking a better understanding of the timeline of events taking place and the floor plans of the crime scenes as well as the battle plan of the killers going in and the equipment they carried, compared to the actual things they did before ending their own lives, this video is a sound source of fact. Please keep doing what you do while you can and take care of your own well-being as you tackle this challenging work.

I was 6 weeks shy of my 14th birthday when this happened and I live in Scotland 🏴 Three years prior, we had our own tragedy with a school shooting (Dunblane) and now the family of those victims meet up with people in America to protest about gun control/violence.

First this, then Virginia Tech unfortunately set a new “record” and began a “new trend”. But of course there have been numerous shootings before these, in between and for sure after.

This story has always stuck with me since I first heard about it, I often revisit it, and I even remember a time on here (CZcams) maybe around 2011/2012 when you could actually watch all of the surveillance footage from that day, and the library footage you could see some of the students stumbling along after being shot and collapsing on the desks, then Eric and Dylan walking up to them and they appeared to be talking for a moment over their victim before moving on, truly horrifying and saddening, may the victims RIP 😢

This was the most informative video I’ve ever seen on Columbine. Where everyone was & who shot them with what firearm definitely gives me more clear & accurate picture of how it all went down inside the school. It seems like people are scared to get into all of these type of details especially on UTube. So respect to you for doing so & doing it in a way that wasn’t disrespectful to any of the victims. I'm from Santa Fe Texas. We had a similar tragedy at our High School a few years ago too. Whatever it takes to get people to value life and each others lives again...Let's do it.

You know what else is scary. Just a couple weeks prior to the massacre, one of the victims, Daniel Mauser had talked to his dad asking him if he knew about the loopholes in the Brady Bill. Ironically enough it was those very loopholes that allowed Eric and Dylan to purchase the weapons and ammo that ended Daniel’s life.

I watched a documentary about this, and it said that Rachel Scott and her brother were fighting on the way to school, and when the got there her brother had slammed the door on her. After the library spree, her brother was running out of the school. After he found out that his sister was killed and where her body was lying, he found out that he ran right past her sister and didn't notice her. Truly tragic and the grief he must have felt after that.
Hi. I am a 14 year old girl who goes to public school and so far, I've almost been accounted by a school shooting. When you asked about why we think one of these boys killed more then the other, I think it's maybe because they were bullied. I had read an article based off of this because my mother was shot by these boys. She was my age, 14. In the article, it stated that these boys were bullied and that nobody talked to them. Idk, I just thought that maybe I should throw my little thought out there. So yeah! Thanks for the video! 😊💛

It was my senior year at my high school when this took place. Needless to say this filled me with a sense of dread and horror just watching it unfold on TV. Every classroom was showing it and we were just in shock. Graduation was SUCH a relief because I felt I was free of what could have been.

When my son was young he was made fun of for his weight but during Jr. high school, He lost weight and became a "jock", but I always told him, you be kind to every single kid, I don't care what they look like, smell like, wear, doesn't matter, be nice.

This is the most comprehensive presentation I've even seen of the event. Still don't know why Swat waited to enter and that poor boy lying on the sidewalk was left out covered all night. At least that's what I remember. This was a major wakeup to those if us that sent our kids to school everyday. No where was safe.
I was a senior in high school. I remember coming home and seeing this on the news. I knew some one who knew Rachel Scott and happen to be the one who told her she was among those killed. I heard Craig’s story of hiding under the table in the library with Matt Kechter & Isaiah Shoels. I will never forget this shooting and living in fear the rest of the school year. Refused to go back to the library, where I spent my study hall usually.

This was my 16th birthday. I will never forget that day. I spent it on the couch with my Mum crying for most of the day and evening. I felt so bad for the families that were affected by this tragedy. I had the realization on that date so many children my age were gone forever. Prayers for the survivors and those who have passed.

Thank you! Very informational! I've always wondered about some of these things. The call Patty Nelson made from the library always had me curious about the library layout. She was talking to the 911 operator while the shooting/murders were taking place. How did they not hear her? I know some libraries have 2-3 stories with open ceiling space but it it sound like she's directly telling the students "Under the tables", like she was close to where the massacre was taking place. So, I have just always wondered, couldn't they see her/hear her, because if they could I'm surprised they didn't kill her too.
Thank you for stating that. I also wondered why they didn't shoot her after she yelled instructions to the students. Possibly they were paying attention to the police's arrival or the like. Also, they were being pretty impulsive and responsive after their original plan failed and may not have made much of a new plan.

I found a good diagram of the library but it doesn't really show the point where the shooters entered nor where the librarian lady (Patty Nelson) was standing/sitting at the time the shooters came in. You can hear her start whispering to the operator, so I guess the shooters were closer to her at that point. I'd like to know where she was and whether or not they saw her, or if she was able to slip into another room. I'd love to see an interview with her. Also, I had always thought that the shooters shot themselves in a different section of the library than where they killed all those kids. Like in the same room, but in a different department, but from what I can tell by the diagrams, they might have walked about 8-10 steps from the bodies and then shot themselves.

Just a few months ago Steven Curnow's dad Robert Curnow passed away due to complications from heart surgery. At least now he's resting peacefully and reunited with his son on the other side.
They’re resting in Sheol along with every single person ever who has died in history, waiting to be resurrected for the final judgement by our Creator. We have this common misconception that when we die we go to heaven with our loved ones to be be with Christ but that’s just not the case, according to what the Bible says.

Dylan shot and injured many, shooting one point blank in the face with a shotgun. It was a miracle he survived, so make no mistake. They both set out to kill as many as they could that day.

Eric was out for revenge because he was bullied more, per a documentary we watched here this past week. It still leaves a few questions of why in the first place. The two guys were fixing to graduate, one was going to go in the service and one to college. Messed up for sure. They also was shooting things in the woods and taped it, why didn't someone say something? Hummm?????

There was no protocol for a school shooting of this magnitude. Yes there were school shootings before Columbine but nothing like this. The cops did what they were trained to do.

If I had been there that day as an armed police officer worn to serve and protect my community and I heard children being murdered I would have thrown protocol to the wind.
