    Jeff Holland - Salem, OR Paster Myers, as a 62-year-old white member of our Church, I loved the conversation and I really needed to hear it! I then watched your subsequent sermon the following week, the one you had been working on in the kitchen, and you were right on target. I was led to watch both of these on CZcams after praying about this very issue. Bible study is so important, but so is a knowledge of history in general, but in this case, specifically our own Church history. Black people have been oppressed in America, and our Church needs to take up the cause to end it, especially if we find it in our church. God is opposed to the Satanic oppression of mankind... everywhere.

    Thank you Kevin for not being afraid of criticism. The truth needs to be heard, and Adventists, individually, and collectively really need to decide which side they are on. There are only 2 sides, Jesus or Satan. There is no sitting on the fence, being afraid to speak out and protest social and political injustices in the name of peace. You say that the truth was changed (47'50") because of the federal government didn't want the prophetic interpretation of SDA. How about the changes in the fundamental principles of the seventh day adventist printed in 1905, 1907, 1908, 1909, 1910, 1911, 1912, 1913, 1914. EGW passed away in 1915. He is a true warrior for God and I have been encouraged to study more and study differently. Being an immigrant myself, I have chased the American dream - never found it but I did give my life over to Jesus about 5 years ago and, in that way, I am very grateful to America. America may be many things people do not like but the order hithertofore manifested in this nation, the optimistic spirit and the generosity of her people have made me so grateful and appreciative. I love being in a country where the mail actually makes it to its destination without being stolen, hardly anyone urinates in the streets (except for demonic Seattle and San Francisco), there are street cleaners and trash is removed. American stores are clean, trains, planes and roads are on schedule. It always blows my mind that people complain about their surroundings and still throw trash in the streets, baby diapers etc. I long to be a grain of salt for God in this world while time shall be.

    • @SymphoniASmall
      @SymphoniASmall Před 4 lety +2

      @@GoodWillPrevail Social justice causes are not distractions from our preparation for receiving the seal of God. Rather, social justice causes are supplementary. Isaiah 58 purports that the true fast is centered around administering justice and righteousness to not just our own selves, but others. Yes, we never see Jesus literally holding a sign of protest, but that doesn't mean He didn't protest injustice. The Great Controversy is political to the core. Satan had an issue with the politics of God's kingdom. He believed he could redefine good and evil outside of God. The sanctuary message? Politics in the spiritual realm. "Without the shedding of blood, there can be no remission of sin." Politics! Now in the physical realm: the forming and supporting of vegetarian societies and temperance societies throughout the world. Voting for laws that would further the cause of temperance. What would you call that?
      Now, what is a distraction? A distraction is something that obstructs the development of restoration of the image of God in our character. Advocating for righteousness and justice towards those who experience things that you've never experienced? That's a development of Christlike empathy. Example; the Samaritan experience is somewhat akin to the racial/theological micro-aggressions we experience in our churches today. And what does Jesus do and command his disciples to do? Go out of their way to restore such a one by every means possible. "...Hide not thyself from thine own flesh." Isaiah 58:8. "Thine own flesh" means yourself, as the Holy Spirit is doing the work of self-revelation as we are afflicting our souls, but "thine own flesh" also dually means your fellow man.
      Don't misunderstand me. We must be careful to examine and test the spirits of the social justice bandwagons that exist today. Oh, we must be very careful. We must ALSO be equally careful and fearful of social/spiritual idleness, for Satan will use this to condition you into being apathetic. POLITICS IS NOT EVIL. Godless politics are evil. Godly politics are what we are called to advocate, as we are even now being trained to judge angels! Hide not thyself from thine own flesh.

    I just found this today, June 27. I don't know whether anyone will read it now. But I just have to say there is so much ignorance among our people. Recently while I was teaching the SS lesson, the matriarch of our church commented, "I don't know what their problem is, they have everything!" I was totally shocked and almost speechless. I questioned her somewhat but didn't make a big commotion. Since then I have had opportunity to share some reality with her about discrimination in our time. She has admitted she really didn't know about these things. There are very few blacks in this area. And one of the charter families in our church was a wonderful black family. They have since moved on or passed away. But they left a sense that we are all a happy family. This program was a big help. We need education coming from the church. People don't know what to believe coming from the media. And our experience in rural america is different from big city America. (I did live in NYC for several years.)

    38:11 It should be clarified that the funds collected were not for direct distribution to the freedmen. Rather, they were to support the educational work done through the Southern Missionary Society run by Edson White and his affiliates. As Brother Benjamin has said, the Adventist efforts in the South were to teach the freedmen how to better support themselves by self-improvement through education and by learning better means of agriculture, which was the major means of support of ALL people--black and white--at this time. The "misappropriation" was not that it simply went into someone's pockets; it was that the funds were sent to those working in other ministries in the South (particularly in Tennessee).

    This is so timely! What don't we get about Jesus saying He was come to set the captive free. We are also preaching from other points in the Bible that have several levels, so why don't we have the ability to to see levels in Adventism that apply to eliminating racism in Adventism. I am almost 83, my mother became a Seventh-Day-Adventist in the 1940's. Never, did I learn racism of any kind at her knee. For her it was what one's heart and resultant actions revealed that caused her to reject or accept someone as an example to us. So, at almost 83, and not educated in Adventist schools, I read some writers on my own, saw what happened in the 1960's and am so glad to get this more detailed information. Please educate us more, mind and heart. I have read some of the comments. We should not get sidetracked by terms like "social justice" and truly listen to all the information presented here. "The Church is a hospital full of sinners that need healing from the Master Physician, not a rest home for saints." God is in the business of heart transplants... turning our hearts of stone to hearts of flesh. If He can transform a Christian persecuter Saul to Paul, a Christian who turned the world towards Christ, He can still work on those the world and other Christians have given up on.

    This some good stuff. This information was all new to me but I can't say I'm surprised by the things that have taken place with our church and is still happening today. I'm from Jamaica and I've been a SDA from birth, I'm 24 now and civil rights has never been that much of a concern to me, not until the incident that we all know about. I have been deeply troubled from that moment until now. I have been praying about it constantly. Sometimes I'm in my bed and can't sleep because I'm thinking about it. I'm hungry and don't even want to eat because I'm thinking about it. All of what's going on has brought to my attention the need to really speak out against injustice and not just necessarily in the context of racism because there are so many other issues affecting people, but at this point in time racism is the big topic and it needs to be addressed in the church. It is indeed a spiritual issue and we just can't keep denying it.
    There is a big cause for concern on my part about the BLM movement. I felt as though it would have been addressed on this program but it probably would have led to a whole new discussion but I'm hoping you guys will speak about it soon. My issue is that, as much as civil rights should be the prerogative of the church, I don't believe in attaching myself to the above stated movement. I believe everything that we are doing should be aimed at winning souls for God's kingdom (both the oppressed and the oppressor) just like the pioneers did. I don't see this movement as one that has this aim, correct me if I'm wrong. Why can't the church start an abolitionist movement and lead from the front instead of just attaching ourselves to one where we are just being drowned out by all the noise? I'm deeply troubled at the moment because the devil has the church in a tailspin. I pray that we get our act together soon.
    Pastor Myers keep doing what you're doing. Continue to allow the Holy Spirit to guide you as you seek to address the many pressing issues that are affecting us today. I love the sermon that you did on the "Hidden Agenda Behind Racism." I believe it's a message that the church should be running with.

    "Uplifting humanity is part of the gospel..."- that's powerful. A call to complete equality is the Midnight Cry message for our time. The present issues of Nationalism/racism, sexism(patriarchy, misogyny), and homophobia are what will break out into the final crisis or great tribulation at the end of the world- this will be the final test for all humanity. This is what God is revealing to His remnant church right now.

We pray for a revival in our church. A revival and a reformation. This message was powerful. Seeing our church through this lense now makes so much sense. Everything said articulates what the Lord is going to do, how He will revive and transform His church. I believe it is possible and we will see the change come to pass in our day.

    I find the analysis of this video completely wrong. Kevin said the FD Nichol was telling SDA members not to get involved in the civil rights movement because as a church we were against "uplifting a human race"? (this can't be from God) and Pastor Myer, you said you are a peacemaker but support these type of statements? And you also add add that this message is "more important" than the Three Angels Message? I hope you all three can put on clear lenses with which to look at the reality of the time we live in and not be carried away by every wind of fake doctrine.
    Yes black lives matter, as a non-US white man I am disgusted with America's historical part in this regard and I the first person to support the need for justice, but the SDAC has also shown support against this injustice and ultimately, to say that this is concern is more important that the Three Angels Message is petty, stirring more trouble among an already troubled and divided church and just plain misguided.

I'm 25 years old this year and during my years of growing and being raised in this church, I haven't learned a lot of the stuff that was presented by Mr. Baker and Brother Kevin. I believe that as young people, we must be informed about the history of our church and everything that has transpired in our church. We have a work to do in preaching the gospel and ministering to those who are oppressed in the slavery of racism.

    • @brenjames6192
      @brenjames6192 Před 4 lety +3

      Oh boy. That's a hard one. The ideal absolutely is to integrate. I belong to a very mixed race/coloured congregation in Australia and it's a huge blessing and such a testimony to God's power and love. But to integrate in America... After all the history... And despite the current strength of black adventism...I can see if such takes place, there would need to be a mighty miracle to retain any sort of unity. Many will leave... But would they be a loss?

    • @mindsetofyahweh368
      @mindsetofyahweh368 Před 4 lety +3

      On what basis would we be integrating? This will not happen based on human efforts. True conversion of the heart towards Jesus Christ must take place for unity in the church to take place. And as there will be a great sifting as EGWhite talks about, I fear that there won’t be any integration until after such time.

    • @RobertLaCelleIII
      @RobertLaCelleIII Před 4 lety

      Totally agree! I've heard part of the problem is that the "black" conferences do not always want to integrate. Some leaders in those conferences like having their own conferences. But everyone I know personally is totally in favor of integrating conferences by region. It's a stain on our history to have conferences based on race.

    • @mindsetofyahweh368
      @mindsetofyahweh368 Před 4 lety +2

      Robert LaCelle III I don’t that it’s a “ black “ issue when it comes to integration, our issues, rights, concerns have never really been fully actualized in an integrated state. People of all shades would feel comfortable going to church together if Christ was still the head of the church and that people were truly converted. As recently as Feb.2020, my family and I went to church in San Diego while on vacation, and a little “white” girl ran away from us towards her father shouting “ Daddy Black people , Black people”. Her father never turned around, never said anything. Even on the same campus of Andrews University you have one church where majority black students worship and another where mostly Whites worship, at least the last time I was there. If we were truly converted and lead by the Holy Spirit this wouldn’t even be a discussion topic.

      America's history reveals that from her conception she's always practiced wickedness in the name of Christ. The Bible is clear as well as it NEVER describes America as a "lamb" but as a beast that has "lamblike horns" and speaks as a dragon. -Revelation 13:11 The nation is describe as hypocritical, phony, a lie...as it wanted freedom for religious persecution aka Rome while persecuting native Americans and began enslaving Africans all in the name of religion, in the name of Christ. America's iniquity is so great that it will literally summon the second coming of Christ as she's indeed the last kingdom to rule, the last kingdom to openly defy God and in the name of His own Son.
