Honestly, really misleading game design showcased in this ad here. These games condition you into thinking that all you need to win is a bigger number. That's the central design concept all of these ads follow. In this ad though, even though Armor Man possesses the higher number, he still lost to a foe with a lower number because she had a BS gimmick that can't be accounted for.

Yeah, that Hero Wars game seems to have some ad company that just mass churns out these "make number bigger" game ads for them, possibly reusing game assets but having nothing to do with the actual game. It's like they know their game is so bad that it's more effective to lie in their advertising than to actual show off their real game. Even the mobile store listings will only show images from the fake game ads, and the reviews will be full of people calling this out but they don't care.
Special shout out goes to the varient of their ads where they'll have a voice over explicitly calling out other games lying in their ads but claim that their fake game is real. And then does cringy narration over the "gameplay".

One of these ads just came on the projector as my professor was trying to show us a youtube video...
This was like 3 hours ago
Must’ve been the most awkward few seconds of everyones’ lives there
Besides it being obvious false advertisement, another odd aspect is how these ads seem to try and sell people on a game that (supposedly) is literally just “click numbers smaller than your number”, the only obstacle being the player somehow willingly choosing a wrong number (which they do in the ads 99% of the time but people have been calling out the absurdity of that for years).
You could barely fill an overly one-note flash game with a gameplay loop like that, who would want to play it?
The stickman parody game on steam at least had the common sense to add more simple math, forced subtractions, and a timer for it to actually be a mild challenge, and even then that was only one out of like 7 different minigames.
The absurdity of these kinds of ads is multilayered.
Pretty much, I think part of the reason they have adds like this is to make the viewer "think what are these dumbasses thinking? Even a child could figure out how to beat this" wich might make someone try the game.
Its similar to that one game in a corridor where you shoot barrels to upgrade your weapons or go through checkpoints to multiply or subract the number of units you have... and it shows the most potato-brain gameplay possible.
The gameplay is actually in the game, but it's like 5% of it. It only shows up in puzzle stages. The other 95% is a run-of-the-mill autobattler which they don't advertise at all because they know it's boring.
@peterwhite6415 I have beef with the barrel shooters
Specifically the game called "Survival Wars" because they have the audacity to claim this gameplay is "not fake" while showing *clearly fake* gameplay
I like it when the number goes up
@@nephilesimonkey sees action: neuron activation
I get this ad is rage bait but god I genuinely think there should be laws passed against this shit
There are already, false or misleading advertising is illegal. The problem is that they don't give a shit and make more than enough money to offset any potential slaps on the wrists they'll get.
@@leetrithe issue is the laws only count when you are advertising falsely about a product for sale...even in that kind of marketing in areas like phones you will find technically correct advertising that is misleading but they would rather take the slap on the wrist for misleading rather than the penalties for outright false advertising.
@@leetrithe issue is that the phrasing of the law doesn't count it as false advertising because the advertised gameplay is actually in the game, even if it's only 5% of it.
@@PixlRainbowit is not.
@@IdiotamSpielen Plenty of the ads for Hero Wars feature 30-second gameplay of what is actually a small minigame that only really takes 5-10 seconds to complete. The actual core gameplay is an idle battler, but the minigames do exist. It's just that they are technically showing something that exists.

At least with things like Project Makeover ads, you know what to expect: Gross-out humor and/or fetishes (mainly the latter). Hero Wars is the most chaotic part of mobile game ads, cause *anything* can happen. This is the same "game" that had an ad where Not-Hector saw a horse and a human getting ready to make whoopee
I mean, I saw an ad on Wikia that was of the hero trying to decide which toilet to use (but the catch is that it’s a choice between covering the girlfriend or his dog in his shit).

I've seen that mobile ad knight character be put through so many hellish scenarios that he could easy have his own cinematic universe by now.
I have too, and they all end up with him falling down into the same hole with the giant sleeping orc woman, or similar variations.
They just mix and match the intro and ending.
The craziest one I've seen yet was a touching love story where he was the whipped slave of a Minotaur woman, and then they fell in love and got married, until she was kidnapped by her father.
I would've thought i hallucinated it, if it weren't for screenshots I took.

The "Enigma of the Amigara Fault" anime adaptation looks great 👍
If "bigger number = better", then why does 0:54 happen? He had 88, which, the last time I checked, was bigger than 82.
didn't account for the vomit :(
That’s by far the most egregious part of the ad. I was genuinely offended that bigger number wasn’t better.
Bold of you to assume the target audience knows that
My professor got the second half of this ad while she was showing us a video of trains. It was a midroll ad so she was facing away from the screen when it happened, and nobody in the entire auditorium said anything, so the ad went on for a good 30 seconds before she skipped it. Makes you wonder how many office meetings and conferences are embarrassed because of youtube's apathy towards this kinda stuff.

"What is the purpose of the giant woman?"
My brother in Christ, did you not notice that her starting power was 69?
"Death by snu snu".
I'm trying to picture the mind that designed this ad. This is some Dan Schneider level projection.
This ad campaign is most definitely created by AI.
I noticed that I often get the same kind of advertisements, but with subtle changes.
Different animation, different colors, different outcomes in the same "level" etc.
It's like an AI is trying out hundreds of combinations, and see which ones have the longest view time, then make variations on those. Repeat untill you reach the maximum amount of engagement.
AI isn't that advanced man, we're not there yet
Ok, the other ones were like the lady offering a kiss or food to desperate folks. This is just them willingly jumping into a stone slab.

Look at how emaciated the other "offerings" are. Perhaps it's a test to see who is worthy of the giant woman? Or since they are blindfolded maybe they got offered something but in reality are actually just being lured as sacrifices for the giant woman, where our MC comes in and gets in line hoping to stop this evil plot. Maybe since the bones are falling into the hole they need them for some ritual?
Edit: Alternatively someone else suggested that the men are doing this whole thing voluntarily, perhaps because they are getting a kick out of it. Perhaps it is a metaphor for degeneracy and societal decay, where the main character goes and trys to break the cycle but ultimately even though he has higher power it isn't enough and his efforts are in vain, so he ends up literally "falling" to degeneracy

Geometry works a bit differently in the presence of the Great Old Ones.
So this explains why they keep attacking the dudes with obviously higher numbers in the ads. It clearly worked for her!
Of course all these ads are filled to the brimm with fetish stuff and that is disgusting, but what gets me is how these games always seem to think "bigger number= win" is an extremely compelling gameplay model that they need to throughly showcase
They don't. What they're banking on is by presenting a task nearly anyone can do (numeric comparison), and failing terribly at it, the monkey neurons in people's heads will activate and prompt them to download the malware on the basis of "oh come on, I can do better than that." The novel, borderline pornographic scenario reinforces this because people want to see what happens next. It's very malicious application of psychology.
