Just like Battlefront 2 (2017), we took COD WW2 for granted.
I always liked it
I always felt the criticism towards it was a bit harsh. The campaign was solid and to me at least, felt like a return to form.
I did not, I enjoyed it to its fullest extent.
Ww2 was never a bad game. This was the return players wanted from the jetpack age of CODs. It's better than Vanguard by a mile.
@@tns0237The timing was just terrible, though. It came out so soon after another historical shooter, Battlefield 1, that had a profound impact on the gaming industry, raising everyone's standards for historical shooters at that point. COD WW2 just didn't really compare to its competitors or past COD games, either in terms of gameplay, or being cinematic. It wasn't horrible, but it just didn't compare it any of its competitors.
For this man seeing combat in person and him giving us info on what he's been through and then telling us there is absolutely no comparison of what these men went through. That means a lot or should give you a lot to think about. Salute you all. I remember my mom telling me stories her father delt with. I wish I knew the actual details. They ended up stealing gas from the germans so they coulsnt advance on a certain point.
flamethrowers dont blow up when shot, the most that will happen is you will leak the fuel and be stuck with it on your uniform for a long while or get thrown in the opposite direction from the bullet hole from the propellent jetting out.
also flamethrowers, if in a enclosed room, you will die from suffocation instead of being burned unless the flame is directly inside the room with you
I was gonna comment the same about exploding flamethrower tanks. There is a chance it could go up if an incendiary or tracer round hit it but that’s extremely unlikely.
@@Lomi311actually it's very likely if an incendiary rounds hits it, they actually had anti flamer units that used incendiary ammo.
Well, flamethrowers can explode when shot, just not the fiery Roman Candle explosions that Hollywood and video games like to depict. If the pressurized tank is hit in just the right spot, and if the operator is unlucky enough, the tank could explode and send shrapnel into the operator's body. Those tank(s) act similarly to aerosol cans when hit, so the contents would be expelled, the propellant would hiss as it escaped, the fuel would leak from the holes. Very rarely will the tank outright explode, but the rupture can be rather violent and can injure or kill the operator. I've exploded hairspray and deodorant cans in this manner while plinking, it does happen, just very rarely. That being said, if a flamethrower operator appeared on the battlefield, they would either be immediately focused by enemy fire, rendering the explosive tanks moot as gunfire is still gunfire, and still lethal. Or the opposing force immediately surrenders, as burning to death is a deeply ingrained fear. This was common among the Germans, not so among the Japanese.
Also that the ammunition inside the tanks would explode due to the heat and burning fire in the back if the crew wasn't quick enough to get out or do something about the flames

First lesson of CLS (Combat Life Saver) Course WAS learning to apply a tourniquet and the value it has on saving a life. It’s a very important immediate first aid and severely underrated.
Civilians have been made afraid of cutting off circulation and causing permanent damage to a limb. It's heavily de-emphasized in civ first aid now. I learned it back in the day and it was always the worst case option so I don't get the change 🤷♂️
The Bangalore Torpedo is one of the coolest explosives ever. Designed to cut straight up they were heavily used in WW2, when i went in as a combat engineer I learned a lot about them but never used them. God Bless the Engineers who will ALWAYS CLEAR THE WAY!!!!!!
The Rangers that landed at Point Du Hoc. All of their radios were either lost or wrecked. During the landing. Luckily one Ranger brought a WW1 signal lamp with him. This Ranger used the lamp to direct naval gun fire, for support of the Rangers.

Most people died from the suffocating effect of the flame thrower more than the burns and fire.Infact many tanks that had flame throwers were super heavy mostly because of the flame thrower.
Those Crosses you mentioned are called Czech Hedgehogs and where used to block tanks
From that flamethrower comment and how I understand practical first aid, I’d say a majority of it is contributed to oxygen deprivation since the oxygen around you is burning to feed the flames and breathing in the heated air can cause severe burns to the respiratory system, combine that with the shock and excruciating pain expected from a flamethrower, unconscious within seconds and the damage done to the lungs will result in a lack of proper airflow to the system and will unfortunately yield a KIA if treatment doesn’t come fast enough in the form of a miraculous intervention. It’s usually not often the burns alone that will kill someone but rather the myriad of issues that come from the flames, if you somehow stay conscious through all of that and those burns are left untreated though, infection will very quickly set in through the variety of 3rd and 4th degree burns inflicted… not a pretty picture at all.
I may have misheard you, but you meantion the Thompson aka annihilator in relation to WWI. If I remember correctly it did not come out until late 1918-1919. Too late for actual military service during the first world war. It's why it found a role in law enforcement and gangland warfare in the 1920s and 30s. It was stupidly expensive due to its mechanism, it wouldn't be until WWII and some streamlinimg that it would be made into a simple blowback SMG and made more cost effective.
Those metal beach defenses are called Czech hedgehogs. They acted as anti-tank defenses.
I'd love to see how he reacts to ARMA's ACE Medical mod. I suspect he'd dig it.
I hate but love the Ace medical mod. Mostly just creating AI wars and watching the injured soldiers getting dragged to cover... Or in the middle of the street then treated.
@@Andrewbaysura1 Takes some getting used to for sure, especially if you're just learning from vanilla ARMA mechanics. Also, the Red Cross offers first aid classes in multiple countries, which doesn't translate 1:1 for obvious reasons but is a good resource to have both for picking up ACE quicker and also, you know, real life.
@@cydoniaorbust8371 I've been playing Arma 3 for almost two years and still haven't learned all the right keys for Ace... which is why I stick with a Zeus game or just Freeplay setting up AI battles. I definitely need to upgrade my PC though... AMD Ryzen 5700, 8 cores? What's a core? Can't join servers with bigger battles unfortunately.
You summed it up man that generation were men yet but sadly still most of them were still kids. I've heard about the whole drowning thing it's the same as our retreat from Dunkirk (Brit like, with American connections) how Lads would just panic or try and reach boats and what they were wearing and being tired would just drag them down It's horrible to think about!

Man people really hated on this but it was the first really good COD in a long time. A return to form and realism man. I loved this game a lot till naturally hackers started destroying it.

Edit: the Thompson is from 1921 and the first world ward ended in 1918 Im not so sure this guy knows what he is talking about

All ww2 beach scenes are not accurate. It wasnt 35 year old that charged the beach.
No disrespect. But "Colt .45" kinda brings me out of it in the first few second.
I think calling the soldiers on the boats "real men" might be over-selling it. I'd say a LOT of them were just boys, boys who hadn't been informed of the full scope of the hell they would be stepping out into, and that a LOT of them would have responded in the same way any of us would have.
Some might not have exactly known but they still showed incredible bravery from then until the end of the war. I think it’s an insult to say people are overselling them
