You’ll be lucky to get a turbo 4 in a couple of years. The V8 is in its death throes. They are milking V8 enthusiasts for all they can get.
Ford doesn't like to be topped when it comes to the F150, so I can see them putting the 5.2 Predator engine in the Raptor, but it might be a very expensive limited run version of the Raptor, as the Romeo engine plant is set to close down in December 2022, so their might be close to two years of availability, the Ecoboost is not going anywhere probably as the regular engine, and maybe the Powerboost or HO hybrid versions.
@JOHN GAGE I have not heard that, but maybe a win, it would be a way of adding power and better mpg, only negative more weight.
But, it's junk that will spend most of its time at the dealership just like the junk Ram.

The Gen 3 Raptor is the child of the Ford F-150 Lighting, and Gen 2 Raptor. Combining Muscle and Baja, I love it.
I can’t wait to see the engine and transmission combination. I do think it will be the 5.2 supercharged but I don’t think Ford will put a DCT in an off-road truck. DCTs are awesome and shift crazy fast but they are not the best at rock crawling or slower trail riding. I understand the raptor is meant to Baja but most people don’t use it for that. In my experience, a 10 speed with a torque converter would work a lot better off-road and be more durable.

I’ve had 6 raptors and they have all been tuned up and modded. The v6 I have now is nuts. Ya v8 are cool but I’m not tripping the v6 is all I need with full on tune.
Gotta love what competition does to the market! ...Ford finally realized that not everyone wants a BLENDER sounding engine in their high end off-roading truck!
I hope this leads to Ford sticking some super V8s in other vehicles to stand up to the competition, i.e. the Explorer ST vs Durango Hellcat / Jeep Trackhawk. Love my ST, but I gladly would have paid more for blown 5.2L V-8 version. OR, Ford really needs to come out with a smallish EcoBoost V8 for certain applications. Something like 500+hp 4.0Ltt V8. Stick it in the Explorer ST, the regular Raptor, GT supercar, etc.. That way you get the performance and the sound.

I'm actually curious to see what happens because if the new raptor gets the Shelby engine and a DCT it's more than likely going to be over 6 figures from factory plus dealer markup the TRX has a solid shot at beating them by 20-30k price wise which 20-30k is a lot of saved money or money for upgrades which will blow that out of the water with that kind of money
Ford's going to release this with 725 horsepower then Ram's going to up the ante again by putting the red eye engine in a special edition ram. I just hope Ford has beefed up the powertrain enough. A raptor with 37-in tires and 15-in suspension travel would be great.
Yea but whats crazy is a gt500 is faster then the redeye and regular hell cat because of the duall clutch.
They can always tune the GT500 engine since it's going to be de-tuned for the Raptor for now.
And let me remind you that ford still has that 7.3 Godzilla engine

I think the only vid I've seen where the redeye loses is when the gt500 got 1 car

even if its detuned to have less power than the trx you gotta admit ford just do significantly better in weight and on their transmissions and will probably outperform the trx in almost every aspect
If you plan on racing it in the dunes perhaps, but until they address their crappy interiors, I'm still on the fence. I didn't buy the 1st Gen Trx because it had no option for Ramboxes which is a must for me as that is where my fishing rods go. Ford is the only truck I've never owned, but I definitely will be taking a careful look at this one... here's to hoping.

Very few Ford’s have the new screens. I’m in the market and it’s very hard to find Raptors with the new screen. They still make new trucks with the old screen.

What Ford was thinking is that they didn't have any competition so they could put any engine they wanted to in the Raptor. Too bad they didn't anticipate RAM and the love most guys have for their venerable V-8.

I LOVE my Raptor. I have the 2017 turbo and I don’t care what naysayers say. This truck is the best truck EVER! In ALL aspects. Design, performance and the POWER. Holy smokes…the absolute power. It was quite scary and intimidating at first! But when you get to know your baby it becomes an amazing machine. I’m %100 happy and satisfied with my purchase and will NEVER drive any other truck ever again and I’ll never get rid of my baby. Even if I buy a newer model, then that means I’ll have TWO amazing trucks 🤷🏻♂️ right? Lol thanks for the vid. It just made me more prouder to be a fellow Raptor owner
My '13 Raptor already has a V8 and although not as powerful as the new ones or Dodges, I still like the body styling better than the new ones. I love it.
Me too, I have a blue flame '13 supercab and love it! I'm just not a fan of the 4door only option supercrew, just my personal preference. I will admit I have been studying the R, but I'm still not sold on it yet, I'll make a decision once the R is in full reality. I still get a ton of looks and compliments on my '13, time will tell.
I wish there could have been an inbetween V8 engine option for those who don't want the v6 raptor, but don't need all the performance of the possible supercharged v8 option

Ford already said the Raptor will be standard with the twin turbo v6 and the Raptor R with the SC’d 5.2 awhile back.

As I said why didn't they put the 3.5 from the Ford GT and the regular raptor temporarily until the V8 r model come out it's basically different heads a tune and an intake would have been a little better matchup and either way you go to the dealer and there is that little extra sticker on there market value adjustment $20,000 so if you're going to do that put the other v6 in it

Yes, "DCT" is a copy of Porsche's "DPK" that was introduced back in 2009. I had the pleasure of test driving a 911 Carrera with "DPK." He is correct, there won't be any "lag" time between gear shifting and it is actually faster than the traditional manual transmission.

TFL purchased a Raptor and a TRX for long term test vehicles. Both trucks has $77k price tags on them. The Raptor had a few more options for the $77k, but still that was for a V6 Ecoboost.
A V8 Raptor is going to base price @ $75k and go all the way to $100k.
The most expensive TRX I've seen to date was just over $94k, so I don't know where the $120k price tag came from. One thing that looks nice but is as functional as a screen door on a submarine is the panoramic moon roof. IMO there's too much body movement to have 2 large pieces of glass over head. YRMV.

I don't know where this information comes from but I wasn't able to confirm it anywhere online or at Ford. This tune up of 3.5. L Eco boost is particularly strange since the 3rd gen face life Raptor came out for the year 2021 and it had the same engine sporting 450 HP. I doubt that Ford would tune up this same engine just a year later and give it 50 HP more.. As far as Raptor R is concerned, that is a possibility given the fact that the RAM TRX is selling like crazy, and therefore taking customers away from the Raptor. We'll see..

Realistically, how much horsepower can Ford pump out if they still chose to go with a V6? Would it surpass the TRX's V8?
I would like to have seen ford use a supercharged version of the Godzilla engine. Even with a relatively mild cam the engine should easily make 750 hp, but more importantly the torque number would be outrageous, and the engine would be less stressed and have better longevity. The only drawback would be the weight because it's a cast iron engine. I've been seeing early development versions of these engines easily making 1200 hp.

Now...put that engine in a performance oriented Bronco and i’ll trade in my car, my wife, my kids and even my ex (she got a lot of mile on her but she still runs) for the keys to that puppy!

Leather? Who needs leather be happy with the v8 but yes you could built somthing better with more travel better shocks and possibly even a cage but who would want to do that to a brand new truck maybe to a Chevy or ram but not Ford
Yeah that's your best option, that's what I did just get a XLT or FX4 V8 put a 3 inch leveling kit in it for under $100 and then you can fit tire size 33 on that's all you need top it off with a winch and roof rack light and you'll be up to a raptor no need to go bigger you end up limiting yourself for hills and tree clearance I live up in the North woods and I run the logging trails this works excellent

@@MstaEd TRX is a 1/4 mile pig that should have been the next Viper street truck but they had to put a 4 wheel drive system under it with beefy tires. It wouldn’t ever finish the Baja 1000 there is a reason they one upped the Raptor every possible way expect for finishing the damn race it was supposedly designed for. Everyone forgets that because it does 0-60 in 3.5s.

@@L_G_Brandon the raptor is made as a base baja truck, while that IS off-road, that is made for racing. DCT transmissions make lightning fast shifts. If you can give me a good reason why a DCT isn't a good option compared to a standard automatic, please do.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the first gen raptor have a 5.2L or 5.4L V8 in it and they said that it was sluggish at times and seemed slightly under powered? Also why wouldn't they just go back to the 6.2L, they are probably going to super charge it anyway and its been proven you can safely get 800hp out of it while still being reliable.

Berto here...I think it needs another bar of light coming downward by the tailgate on the taillight. Just think; driving behind it at night in the rain. All you would see is those 2 little horizontal bars of light. In my opinion; the Radar on taillights, ruin them. Why's it gotta take up so much valuable taillight looking space?
its 70k to get one within 250 miles of my zip code up 15k since last year alone idk if the current 2021 models @ dealers are just 2020 carryovers but they have the active shocks n asking a 15k hike than the ones did in 2019 withe the normal fox shocks
2019’s have the live valve shocks. Also, I got my 2019 Raptor for $6k less then the sticker a year ago. There is no 2021 Raptor either. If you’re interested in the current Raptor, it’s easy to find them for under sticker.
