- 2005 was a great year for updates on runescape. This update was no different and brought in new best in slot capes, weapons, and a bis amulet. This city changed the game of Runescape forever. I hope you guys enjoy this one. If you did enjoy it, be sure to do all the usual stuff that helps me out. I upload 2-3x a week and do a hcim series as well as other historical runescape videos.

Imagine if something as difficult as the inferno was released back then with the lack of guides 😅 The inferno cape would practically be an urban legend among players.
That would make obtaining it that much more badash

I just unlocked a memory of my mom, my uncle (a little older than me) and me staying up all night watching my uncle try to beat the boss to get the fire cape

I remember getting the fire cape before my 8th grade Hawaii science camp field trip! I stayed up till 4 am doing fight cave attempts and when we came to the field trip the next day I had not slept … but I was so proud to brag to my friends I got the first fire cape at school

I remember there was a Jad flash game where you had to watch the animation and click to the correct prayer and people would use it to practice their prayer switches so that they could be prepared when they finally got to Jad. I remember doing that for ages before I ever even made it to Jad, finally got to him, and died anyways due to nerves.
there are new tools for this exact purpose outside of Flash now, and it's neat that they exist at all!
It's so cool how quickly people built that learning tool, and a little sad that time is moving so fast these little things become harder (or impossible for some) to see and appreciate.
First time I walked into Tzhaar on accident and saw the landscape I thought it was so cool. Saw a bunch of high level monsters and freaked out thinking I was going to get mauled and lose all my gear. Didn't realize they were non-aggressive. Used to love cape/shield hunting with my buddy.

I remember once going to the fight pits for fun, and there was a clan event happening on the world. They basically must of had 100s of people there, it was pretty sick since the fight lasted well over an hour an was mostly them trying to survive the monsters and constant 1s (after a certain point you would actually take 1 damage every tick)
Damn that was awesome. I always assumed Onyx came out with the release of the city alongside Jad and the rest. Interesting to know how it really unfolded.
Yeah I had no idea either. It was definitely interesting to see different release dates on them.

When the fight kiln first came out, the cape was only melee and it had no effect, just the obsidian triangle going down design. They updated it quickly after to add a glow effect as well as the range and mage versions.
The fight kiln didn't release the mage and range variants until 2 years after the initial kiln release. I wouldn't call that quick.
That is right, Tzhaar city, I do like the black floor tiles with the red circuitry
The fight caves clip @ 7 minutes into the video reminded me of something that I definitely did not miss from the old days; interacting with the prayer menu would interrupt your character's combat and you would have to click on the monster again to continue attacking. >.<

One of the top highlights of my runescape career was winning the RuneHQ fight pits event. I had never killed a player up to that point in my life, but I did what anyone would have to do to win. Get good tank gear, sip brews, hide, and take out guys with low hp. There was over 500 people there and to win, its something ill never forget!

with the kiln, it didnt have the other 2 capes to begin with, they came out a while later and also the melee used to have a different design on launch

8:25 I remember back in the day when I got my first firecape I went with crystal bow and guthans.. it took me like 3 runs, and the time I did it was when I got him behind Italy.. I nearly passed out because I had a panic attack, and I had to put on auto retaliate and kill the healers behind the safespot while calming myself down lol. Jad is for some reason, the only thing in my entire life that causes me to have panic attacks when I get to him lol; I've even done the fight kiln like a dozen times and it never makes me panic like fight caves Jad does.
When the city first came out, I got a shield drop and sold it for 700k. I bought dragon med helm right after for 900k. SMH!
I'm the one that was getting the fire cape on the Danny9760 account 😂 I think it had around 74 ranged and I was about 17 at the time.. You're right about it taking around 2 hours 😃
14:50 is extremely wrong. Fight kiln on release was the hardest content in the game that few people got
It was neutral combat style and was pure black called tokhaar kal
I used it on release for corp/sigil hunting after watching “castlewars” becoming first trim comp in runescape
at 7:40 hes so right, thou jad is even a chanledge even on old school, i got my first fire cape at 99 rng and combat 124, using blow pipe and dragon darts and vigour. I out dmged all the healers, all i had to do was prayer flick the mage and range prayer. i think i finished it in 56 minutes.

:54 not that good for those stats. I got my first one in about an hour using amethyst darts and 80 range and i am by no means good at this game

You were right on the shield. I tried farming them for money back then and the shield and capes were the goal. 600k for shield, 300k for capes.
happy memories lol yeah when I quit for 6 months cause I couldnt get my cape only to come back lose again and quit for another 2 months, but hey I certainly won't forget it

Think I used 2 crystal bows and veracs for my 1st cape. Attempts around 3 hours. Counting shots so only 1 bow degraded

And you couldn't zoom out as much, you could barely see what attack Jad was using.
Back in pre eoc era the city had a graphic update and let me tell you something, personally the place look amazing.
BTW next Munday rs3 will probably get new TzHaar creatures with the release of God Wars 3, fighting for the Elder God Ful, who's sleeping under the city.

i use to freeze up as an adult lmao. then when i came back i wanteto get kiln cape, so i had to give away fire cape so i suited up and went and beat jad. i felt amazing lmfao........ now its zuk

the mage & range cape of the kiln weren't on release.. on release it was only the melee variant.
i used to buy chaos and deaths in w2 fally and hire a crafter to turn the onyxes into furys in 2005. solid 1m-1.5m profit per onyx.
