Hot Tent Hammock Camping in an Old Abandoned Farmstead Orchard

- My Aussiedoodle and myself headed out to camp in an old orchard on an abandoned farmstead. My Dad actually worked on this farm when he was a young boy. Even though the farm has been abandoned the trees still produce delicious apples. There are so many remnants left behind from the working mine.
This location is also the site of the first rock salt mine in Canada which operated from 1918 until 1956, by the Malagash Salt Company. My grandfather worked in this very mine and was involved in an explosion while underground. My grandfather survived the blast but his eyesight was compromised for the remainder of his life. My family lived in the old mine houses which still stand today.

Shadow and I had a great walk down to a local beaver pond and collected some birch bark to start the fire.
The temperatures were just below freezing with an ample amount of firewood to burn. I prepared Atlantic Salmon, Atlantic scallops and asparagus with a soya sauce au jus covered with Parmesan cheese. Shadow and I both enjoyed the meal. The POMOLY Dweller Max Ti stove kept us warm and cooked the meal perfectly.
I slept like a baby in my Self Reliance hammock with my Little Shop of Hammocks under quilt. The One Tigris Rocdomus hot tent worked flawlessly and the rain the following day did not penetrate the tent at all. We both remained perfectly dry.
It was a great time, brought back many memories and I could feel the history within me.
