This beloved brother is being listened
to and honored here and respected, why? Because of his suffering. Because he
was persecuted and punished to the extreme. Without his suffering for his
people, his authority would be greatly diminished. I know another who suffered
to the extreme to bring truth to the world. He said if we were to begin by
"loving our enemies" we could bring change." Think about it, if
you are willing to sit down and with respect and patience listen to your enemy
and refuse to hate him, you will find that often, change for good can result.
"If your enemy is hungry, feed him, if he is thirsty, give him drink, and
in this way you will show that you are a true son of the Father." I
adopted a life commitment years ago and have found that it really works, and
often I have seen it disarm the hateful and even the violent, it was the
personal promise when I decided that "the killing stops with me," and
then that turned into, "the hating, stops with me,." And now after
many years of practicing that I now see all men as my brothers and all women as
my sisters. If someone comes at me now as my enemy, immediately I remind
myself, and say to myself silently, "This brother is in darkness, as I
once was, Oh, Father help me now to show them the light of your eternal
love."
