For the people, thinking its only nostalgia. You are very wrong here. In terms of animation and weight, the old versions were much more advanced. The details, the shadows, the propotions are much more realistic in the old version. Animations have really gone worse over the time. The best animated anime films untill today are still the old Cuphead cartoons, Akira and Ghost in the Shell. They are all made before 2000. The Animators were much more skilled, cause they had to animate every minor detail. Todays a animes are much more focused on simplicity and speed.
You've gotta factor in the fact that nowadays anime is rushed out to meet consumer demand weekly, with each animator taking up multiple projects, which is partially why nowadays studios use so much 3d models for background chars (which is, for example, especially sloppy in Blue Lock 2nd cour); still or slightly moving frames; and also in general not having the same level of detail as the anime in 1999

@notghost2759 it's not nostalgia. The styles are literally different. 23 does look cleaner and more colorful but the details in facial expressions in 99 breaks 4th wall. The veins in the eyes and forward. The frowning of the face.
In 2023 i feel that skills are unmatchable but in 1999 i feel an old man wants to tell me something with his passion and his art...it hits me different and thats my personal opinion

Well it’s not like he’s really muscular in this one compared to him in wano, I feel it’s just the attention to details it’s just better quality so we see more than the older version
@@luckedout2131 honestly thats so true. some people are disatisfied with the show now and its bc of nostalgia. The art in 1999 gives the scene a much better tone. The shop owner's eyes with his veins popping out provides a genuine concerned look. The angle of Zoro's eyes provides a more serious facial expression. The height of the blade to which it was thrown, looks more realistic, how you only see the blade while it's spinning and how close it got to Zoro's arm just makes the scene a lot more epic.
For that time being that was expensive but if the 1999 version was made today, it would be low budget and if the 2023 version was made in 1999 it would be way more expensive. That is what he means I believe
The sword in the 1999 version looks more dynamic because we see the sword heading right for Zoro's arm. In the new version we see a close up of the spinning sword but in the end we see how it barely passes. The key difference is that the old shot builds up more anticipation than the new one because they show us earlier where the sword is heading. In addition to that showing the sword barely missing the arm from different angles also acts as a prove for the viewer to reassure how close the situation was. That's why I like the angles and composition of the old animation way more. I don't mind the differences between the art styles like colour grading and shadows. Both are fine
