- Head unit installs all seem complicate, but a professional style is super easy to achieve even with working steering wheel controls.
Join me in this video as I show you all the steps needed to install a head unit into my 2006 Holden Commodore VZ. The only tools you will need is a single Phillips head screw driver to complete this task.
Thank you for watching this video, please share this around. it really helps :)

I forgot how to reconnect steering wheel controls after service, thanks 😊 👍
👍 thanks mate!!!!
Hi James, inspiring video. I have a Pioneer DDin system and have the Aeropro secondary harness. Do I need to conect the other wiring (park brake, reverse etc)?
Hey James I can’t find the cords in my vz commadore when taking the original double din out trying to put a single din in
What wiring harness do I need for the Sony xax av 3200, I've got the facia kit with all the bit and the head unit itself, just not sure if it even need the other harness?
Will upgrading the head unit and speakers have a big difference from the old stock system?
Hey got a vy and got a headunit but wanting to connect headunit to steering wheel have the aeropro black unit but that's it, from the video sounds like I need another lead
James. I want kit for Holden commodore 2006 to change the music system in dubai
Hi, Can we connect Pioneer AVH-X7850TB ro holden vs Calai 1995 steering wheel and which ISO need?
Great Informative vid mate. To be said, the original stereo really needs 2 ppl to remove it easier. Mine was an absolute bastard to get out. Ended up just ripping the whole unit face off and prying it out. My Iso Kit has the front and rear speakers confused which is an easy enough fix, but just so some are aware you can run into a few issues with the balance and fader settings. On my other Commy I have the Iso+Aeropro unit and if I hit vol+ too fast or hold volume+ it skips tracks and or skips to radio, if i double tap the mode button too fast it can also do some crazy stuff! But If i use the buttons slower it all works fine. Do you know how to get steering wheel controls working without the Aeropro dongle? Some units have it built in (So I've read) But I'm having no joy with a JVC That's meant to have it built in. Trying to save $100 but looking more like the Aeropro kit will be needed. Keep up the good work mate. Cheers.
James you’ve inspired me and after fitting a new Radio I’m going to build a Nuclear ☢️ reactor in my garden shed 😂, wow 😮 I feel I can do anything and everything is possible 😉 nice video and loved the fashion change mid vid 👌🏻
😂😂😂 make sure you send me some photos of the nuclear reactor haha
@@JamesMayer125 will do but it maybe some time in the future 🤔 but I’ll be irradiated so will last the test of time 😂.
hi great information thanks but where did you buy the casing from to hold the single head unit please
buy em from super cheap auto
@@braidenisles9051 awesome thanks 😊
Hey mate are you able to change the songs on the wheel buttons
Sure can
What wires do I cut for the harness for Sony double din units
I just watched the video nevermind
Do i have to remove the whole centre console and everything just to put a single din with the little storage thing in there?
Nope as long as you can get to the wires your all good
How come you took out the double din one James?
Hi there. No reason really just personal preference. Liked the smaller form factor and storage extra pocket
Hey man I just put a sony single din Headunit in my car and when I turn the car off the Headunit doesn’t turn off it stays on and when I do turn it off is disconnects my phone from the blue tooth completely
Hey mate, Did you use the plug and play type deal like in the video? Or do the wiring yourself? If the wiring was done yourself you may have mixed a connection with the constant 12v wire and the ignition 12v wire. As for the Bluetooth problem I’m unsure on that one sorry but I’d say the best option would be to contact Sony. Hope this helps :)
Hi, is this process still applicable for VY? I’m in the middle of trying to se mine up..
thanks, kylie
Hey, yes it should be fine to install just like in the video. Are you having some trouble?
be prepared to crack the trim I recomend buying a good set of trim tools
