Saw Phantasm in '79.In '81 bought a '70 Barracuda with a 383 for $300! Drove it home 20 miles on a cold February night with the driver side window missing.
+PeppyOldPanda The price of gas had skyrocketed twice since the time they were new and nobody wanted to drive one because they sucked too much gas. The resale values on large cars and muscle cars plummeted because of the 73 and 79 gas crunches.
The nineteen seventies featured a lot of cool cars in movies,77 Trans am in Smokey and the Bandit,71 Challenger in Vanishing Point,73 Trans am in Thunderbolt and LightFoot,55 Chevy and 32 Ford coupe in American Graffiti.
Weird when I was a kid my mother was at the Plymouth dealer she bought a 75 duster but sitting in show room didn’t notice as a 12 year old a brand new road runner barracuda s for like 6-7 grand omg I wish I new what I new back then
Sadly these are all but unobtainable now...also learning how to drive in a ‘cuda is the baddest drivers lesson. Bet that old man hasn’t even seen Phantasm
This movie and the cuda brings back so many memories!I first saw this flick in june 79 with my older brother who had the same car.
