You definitely have the right idea! I feel like I torture myself with matching my 5yo because everything is a cute pattern but nothing goes. I've started buying only solid colored leggings for her just for my own sanity.
The solid colored leggings was a huge game changer for me too!! Thanks for commenting, I love hearing from you guys!
Thanks for the update on sizes and colors! You do a great job of explaining your reasoning, if someone watching doesn’t agree they don’t have to do the same! Your babies are happy and cute ❤️ and so are you, and that is what matters in your daily life! You make me happy seeing you 💕
Thank you!!! I love to share all my little tricks!
I personally love the process of how you curate the wardrobes and your best tips and tricks.
Thankyou!!! I appreciate the feedback!
I like to see and hear about it so both!
I have a new minimalist wardrobe video out if your interested! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I definitely love to see the process please and thank you!! Love your videos I have 4 kids and simplification is definitely the way to go. You’ve inspired me to downsize the kids clothes tomorrow 😂
I love this!! I’m so glad! Mothering is so much more enjoyable when there is less stuff to manage. Thanks for hanging out! Good luck with your downsizing!!
Loved seeing the whole process as well. :) xx
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback it is super helpful!!
I have three teenagers....I can't imagine all of us matching..lol. Just different styles and preferences. Cute idea but as kids get older that gets complicated.
Ahhh, yes I imagine it is very different with the teens! Do you have any tips as a mom of older kids? I have one preteen currently, I’m trying to walk that line of encouraging my minimal ideals while giving him the opportunity to choose for himself. Complicated was a good choice of words.
Thanks for watching, and commenting!
We differ in somethings , but good thinking in a lot of your stuff ! God bless!
Thankyou!
I am noticing about my daughter that she like second hand clothes. I also buy her that through out the year. She likes them feels comfortable in them. Yes her closet is packed. I do once a week all the laundry. Because of the bad weather the laundtry doesnt dry quickly. And i have 7 extra sets for her so she can wear her clothes the other week. But i also have family members that shop for her and her closet gets packed. she wears all of her clothes that is not the thing. She also lays in the mud grass or sand at school. So i always have extra clothes with me and that makes life easier for me. She is 6 years old. And she also has her style and she has the same taste as me with clothes. I dont need to worry that she hates her stuff. She also has her clothes atleast a year maby 1,5 year. But that is a ultimatum.
I actually think that you are a genius😊. 5 kids, and they all match is quite cute. A curated wardrobe is always best. I am a new mom with a 4 month old baby girl, and I am drowning in clothes and toys😂😂😂. No more buying stuff for her unless she really needs it. I have so many dresses that she wore once. I have a lot of decluttering to do❤
Congratulations!! I hope you are starting to sleep again! 😊 whenever I get a surplus of stuff (family and holidays and new babies all mean more stuff lol) I use the thrift store like a clothing library. Take it all in and get credit for whenever I need something. Takes away the sting of tiny things, grown out of all too quickly. Good luck on your decluttering journey!
And happy new year!
My son is the easiest to dress. He’s almost 2, not yet potty trained. I got him a 12 pack of long sleeve white onesies and one of short sleeve onesies , a 5 pack of fleece joggers and I’ve picked up some random t shirts over time. I layer his tees over his long sleeve onesies when it’s cold and when it’s warmer I put on a short sleeve onesie. The onesies have held up super well and I do laundry often enough we never run out! My 9 month old is always in a onesie and soft pants as well. My 4 year old has a capsule wardrobe in a color pallet of gold, maroon and gray. My older kids do their own things. I think boys are so much less maintenance with clothes lol my girls need more variety.
Agreed! Boys are so much easier! I think we are probably very similar when it comes to kids clothes because that sounds perfect to me!
I learned how to naturally dye tshirts with tea and coffee and avocados .. they come out in different shades of brown and match with everything.. I buy white tshirts for them and dye them and my kids dress matching :)
I love this!! I have never heard of dying with avocados. That’s so cool.
I think it would get a bit boring to wear the same colours and clothes all the time 😊
I imagine it would for some! I’m not really creatively fueled by putting together outfits, that always felt a bit stressful to me. I think I would enjoy it more in a slower season of life. Thanks for commenting, I appreciate hearing your thoughts!
I don't think I could do this exactly, I definitely like a minimal wardrobe for my kids especially my boys. I definitely pass things down, but my 8 year old and 11 year old now wear the same size so I am needing to go out and buy more than I had originally planned. My 7 year old only gets like an outfit or 2 each season and the rest is all handme downs, my 2 year old also has a ton of handme downs but I do get them an outfit or two here and there just to get him something that looks good on him, and for my girls they get a few cute outfits and dresses new, I can't pass down from my oldest daughter to my youngest because they're 9 years apart, but since I haven't had girls to receive handme downs or to pass things down in my own household I don't buy a ton of girl clothes, I just get like 4 outifta 3 pjs and 3 dresses but my oldest daughter has not been liking dresses as much lately.
I love how thoughtful you are about your purchasing! It is so hard because everyone’s personal situation with their kids is so different! Ages, genders, body types, etc… I have noticed as of late that my boys aren’t all going to be able to wear the same style of jeans comfortably. (Super sad)
when trying to be minimal/ethical/sustainable, we just have to do our best. I share so people can have fresh ideas and perspectives, not to condone one as right or wrong. Thank you for sharing! I really appreciate it!!!
I read that target is fast fashion?
Thank you for pointing this out. Yes, it is. I don’t love supporting this company. So I try very hard to appreciate these items and give them a slow fashion life in my home. The first set of navy blue tee shirts I purchased are serving their third child at this time. Sometimes I can do better, but, when I can’t afford more sustainable options (whether it be a time or monetary constraint) I try to be as responsible as I’m able. Sorry it took me so long to respond. And thank you for you comments
Oh cmon you have 5 kids you're not a minimalist... :D
Does your 10 year old not want to express some individuality? Does he not experience bullying from other kids asking why he wears the same thing every day?
Yes he goes through seasons of wanting to try other stuff. We start by accessorizing, and sometimes that’s enough. When they want to try something new we let them. But they come back to the uniforms too. They dont want the stress, or the discomfort. They also picked the colors originally, for a long time we did the white tee shirts but they preferred the blue. My kids don’t go to traditional 5 day a week school so other kids don’t really notice. I have only been asked about it one time in the last 4 years.
I think the ideas behind minimalism are mostly great, but I also wonder if it’s too extreme to buy 5x the exact same shirt for children. Just because other people don’t say something doesn’t mean they don’t think it, and it might impact the kids more than parents realize.
