There isn't anything wrong with a "2 piece" gas key, you just have to properly stake the screws and you won't ever have to worry about them walking. It's how it's done with real AR bolt carriers
I think AL bolts lack the mass to cycle with the original stock spring. The energy from the gas is dissipated more quickly thus to cycle the gun needs to use more gas. A fair test would be whit a lighter recoil sping and the AL bolt vs the stock bolt and stock recoil spring.
The first "upgrade" I've ever bought was a 12" plastic handguard to make my AR more nimble only to find out two companies can't agree how long 12 inches are. I'm sure there's a fraction of a milimeter difference somewhere which enables the gas to escape , that's why the efficiency went down. And it went down like crazy considering how much lighter that carrier is. Much like Josef Mucha I stay away from upgrades whenever possible.
@@4UADSmartAirsoft I find that doubful. My reason is that this seems like such a nice bolt, AMS would've surely noticed the issue. Did you receive some manual or at least some sort of a pamphlet with the bolt? It would probably say in huge letters that the bolt requires a different spring. My guess is AMS' test guns were a different GHK batch and the bolt works with that one. Of course I'm just speculating, it never hurts to try, a spring doesn't cost that much.
@4UADSmartAirsoft In theory there shouldn't be much noticeable difference on gas efficiency. You're filling the same volume of space with gas on either bolt, assuming the seal is good. If anything the expansion of gas would be more rapid on the AL bolt because it would be traveling faster, resulting in ever so slightly faster cool down. I think the primary culprit here for the perceived decrease in efficiency is the lower momentum of the AL bolt. The bolt carrier is being actively propelled backwards only 75 percent it's full travel, and it relies on momentum to move it the rest of the way back. When the mag is low on pressure, the lower massed AL bolt doesn't have as much momentum as the steel bolt to overcome the same spring pressure, thus beginning to short stroke sooner than the steel bolt.
Have you guys observed any bolt bounce? I saw some slowmo footage of similar light bolts, and they alle bounced while going back into battery. They were able to fix some of them whith using different recoil springs. Awesome video like always, cheers.

Both maple leaf hummingbird and GBL short stroke bolt is faster and snappier than this setup. This AMS bolt only beats other full size aluminium bolts. For your reference, Ima list my set ups below GHK AR x 3 a. RA-Tech 7075 receiver and RA-Tech Steel bolt(Titanium), NPAS, ML hop&barrel, light weight buffer, viper tech spring b. F-1 6061 receiver GBL short stroke bolt, NPAS, ML hop&barrel c. Version 1 receiver with ML hummingbird, ML hop&barrel C shoots the most consistent, the fastest, and the most accurate B the second A the worst Full size bolt travels too much unnecessarily, unless you want more felt recoil, don't get any full size bolts.
why tho? if you want snappiness just get a waldo spring + carbine buffer from brownells ^^ which together costs maybe half of that bcg, is drop in fit and is more snappy
What you are trying to prove is very hard scientificaly. A lighter Bolt can in some case not be more gaz efficiency cause the Bolt spring can be too strong for the Bolt mass. But with à lower Bolt you trade mass recoil for snappyness (wich is surprisingly harder on the optic many times)
@@4UADSmartAirsoft People often tend to use light weight bolt carrier and soft buffer spring to increase performance. A weaker spring will make the recoil stronger because it reduces the gas's ability to restrain impulses, a lighter bolt carrier will cause the recoil spring to push it faster. Therefore, using a lighter recoil spring will increase wear on the hammer and upper receiver, using a lighter bolt carrier will increase wear on the upper receiver, bolt catch, bolt catch structure (you will notice less wear and tear due to Use light weight bolt when using soft recoil spring like ghk). When you use a hard recoil spring for an AR, always use a heavier bolt carrier, that's why Viper Tech added a steel block to increase the mass of the BC.

I’m guessing the lighter bolt cause the timing to go off, after changing to a different spring it will perform better

我自己有鋼槍機與鋁槍機, 重量的差異會造成初速下滑曲線不同, 也就是說鋁槍機初速下滑的曲線比較緩, 但奇怪的是鋁槍機初速比鋼高2~3, 很神奇 : )

以前換鋁槍機就是要輕要快性能提升(但會犧牲後座力的爽感)，但現在有短槍機了，換上短槍機(火力牌鋼製的)也是又輕又快性能提升卻也犧牲了後座力，感覺這兩種槍機使用起來特性是一樣的但短槍機又多了一個能把槍托折疊的功能，已經在使用短槍機的我不曉得該不該再去買鋁槍機，畢竟換了鋁槍機後我的槍托就不能摺疊了

也許會有7075短槍機？

@TehPh1L yeah, I don't know. A steel BCG in my VFC feels plenty snappy for me. If I wanted a gun to shoot laser beams I'd just get an AEG.
