I won't lie I am a beekeeper wanting to save money but I was afraid to watch a woodworking video by someone named "stumpy nubs" 😅

Can I cut a finger joint on the saw stop, or will the blade retract every time I try to cut a finger?

If you take the first piece after making the first cut and flip it, then place that cut over the wood strip, you can push your second piece up against the first to get the perfect distance for the initial cut in the second piece. Be sure to remove the first piece before making the cut to avoid grazing the edge. Then flip the first piece back over and continue with both pieces.

The geometry works the same on a router but there are complications. I do not have the best router but I have nice bits. If the wood ever grabs the twisting force is more than you can overcome with your hands. That twisting motion you feel means the joint and the box are ruined. With a table saw and dado blade set up, the force of the blade is pulling the work piece against the table. I am not trying to start and argument; if you made it work with a router I am happy for you and you should pay yourself on the back for buying nice routers.

I have nothing to say really, but I appreciate your content, and wish to help with the yt-algorithms

I really appreciate that you cut the intersecting sides at the same time. Harder to mess them up but I expect I can find a way.

Well I've not seen both sides cut at the same time like that before. That's a good tip all by itself!

I'd just like to make a comment about Ridge Carbide. On Stumpys recommendation I bought a blade from them. I had a mental malfunction filling out my address and completely missed the drop down box for what state I live in. By default it went with the first selection which if I remember right was District of Columbia. Half an hour later I got a phone call from them trying to straighten out my address. That is excellent customer service. They were literally working on my order within half an hour of me ordering and called just to verify and correct my mistake. The blade did arrive very quickly and is beyond comparison from the factory blade I was using. I feel like a doctor who was using a butter knife and is now using a precision scalpel. The difference between the two blades is astounding. Thank you Stumpy for the excellent videos and advice.

Mind. Blown. Genius to line up both pieces for each cut. Woohoo!

I was looking for a quick and simple box-joint jig for a project. This is it.

Been racking my brain about whether to spend the $$'s on a jig for some joints I want to do on a sewing box for my wife. This looks like it will do the job for this newby and make me a rock (or maybe wood) star! Thanks!

James, I've got to say that I absolutely love your videos in which you teach your audience how to build jigs. I spent a significant portion of my professional life in the teaching and mentoring field and you definitely have the gift. Keep it up amd I sincerely hope to see more full length, step-by-step instructional videos from you. Have a cold one my friend. You've earned it.

It may be possible to mess up the second cut (the first on the second board) by misaligning it.
