Why does the price keep going up? Is it because of the currency exchange and struggling Japanese economy? I thought it was currently cheaper to manufacture in Japan?

@@duppypixels It's been debunked! Sony DID NOT pay for exclusivity or money hatting to keep it off a certain platform. Black Myth Wukong being console exclusive because of Sony paying makes no sense when you consider that Sony have had 2 opportunities this year to show off their brand new Chinese console exclusive releasing in August and they did not. Think about all the console exclusive deals and even marketing deals PlayStation has done over the years they are extremely loud and proud to show everyone and their mother that this game is exclusive to PlayStation and if you want to play it you need to buy a PlayStation. Considering that factor, it makes no sense for them to change that strategy considering that it works for them every single time.
It makes sense if it’s primary concern was the Chinese audience. Why worry about advertising a game outside of China that is overwhelmingly going to sell in China. They are just trying to break into that market.
Given all information we know, I doubt that there was any exclusivity deal. If there is one now it's because Sony bought up the right after the game released not before.
riddle me this common sense man, why did they remove xbox from all marketing material leading up to the release? No where on their site or any official trailer mentions anything not even an Xbox logo. Larian kept reminding you that BG3 was coming, identified the issue and worked with MS to correct that issue. Here, nothing but a report from a leaker about a conversation that was had at a trade show. LMFAO. "common sense"
I read the original French text by Bilbikun (my native language) on the Dealabs website and he never said that the PS5 Pro will not be sold with a disc drive, they just have seen the packaging of what it seems to be the PS5 Pro digital edition that have no disc drive so far. Nothing more nothing less. It is totally possible that Sony sells the PS5 Pro only on digital edition to cut the price of the console. However, as the form factor looks the same as the PS5 slim, it is totally reasonable to think that the current detachabe disc drive available will work also with the PS5 Pro. The bottom covers may be compatible. In my opinion, this was planned a long time ago, during the PS5 Slim R&D to have the same separate disc drive for all the incoming PS5 consoles (Pro or not) to have a simplier and cheaper industrial assembly process in factories. It's not a problem as long as we technically have the choice to play physical or not.
People won't. A few will be sold right off the bat, then the rest will sit there until the price drops. Way to much money for a system people already have. Also a disc drive should be apart of the system with no exceptions.
There’s no exclusivity deal with Black Myth Wukong. There’s more reliable sources confirming it’s not. The game has also never been marketed been Sony either. It being exclusive doesn’t make sense. Edit: Paul Tassi just walked back his exclusive statement haha

$600 with a disc drive will sell. $600 without a disc drive... not so much. But at the end of the day, "Pro" consoles don't sell well. The Xbox One X did not sell well at the higher price point, heck, the Xbox Series X and PS4 did not sell well at all. As for Japan's response to the PS5 price hike downplaying the number of xboxs that were probably in stock is a bad read. Its not going to go from not being in the top 100 the day before to the number 8 spot on the sales chart because a few consoles got sold. Its actually a bad omen for Sony as the annoucement of the PS5 pro is apparently a week or 2 away. If people in Japan are so willing to run out and by xboxs in response to the annoucement of a ps5 price hike i wouldnt expect the pro to sell all that well as it's guaranteed to cost more.
For some reason, I thought Astro Bot was coming out LATE September. I'm pleasantly surprised to hear it's actually coming out next week. Good thing too, because the Playstation Plus options don't look interesting to me.
Funniest thing about this is Game Science already stated its reason for not having any Xbox release available, so they've already addressed the issue and if anyone wants to dispute it, they're going to need more than just "just trust me bro" as their primarily released this game more for their own people in China. Westerners getting access to it was more an added consideration on their part. So if some bad faith American journalist like Paul Tassi wants to bring up rumors or false allegations, that's literally just distant background noise to them. Imagine if an American studio released a game and journalists in China started complaining about it. How many Fs should that studio give? Zero, and that principle runs both ways. The amount of arrogance and hubris for these journalists to think Game Science is accountable to them is astonishing. Meanwhile, Sony is required by US law to disclose its exclusivity deals, so it makes even less sense that it would (or could) keep such a deal with Game Science a secret.
I saw a leak saying the Switch 2 will be called the "Switch Attach"... Dear God I hope that's wrong because they'd just be making the same mistake they did with the Wii U

The thing is…third party exclusivity deals are nothin’ new and has gone on before Sony was even a console manufacturer. It’s nowhere near a new concept, and I don’t know why people are surprised whenever a deal is struck. I can understand the frustration from people left out tho. What’s confusing is why Black Myth hasn’t gotten the marketing treatment of other marketing/exclusivity deals.

Apple started this by increasing their prices in Japan by 50% for their products and other companies took notice as consumers still bought the gadgets. So while the consumer still buying is also wrong, Sony doing this is really making me completely ignore them from now on. I’ve had my fun with the PS5 but Sony has nothing to warrant a price tag for which I can buy a top tier pc, without the gpu mind you. If you don't own a ps5, the pro is the SKU to go, because they will continue launching games to ps5 well into ps6 generation, and they will run better on the pro. It's a long time investment.
The PS5 pro is pointless when games are hardly taking advantage of the base. PS5 would be better spending the money that they spent on the PS5 pro on actual games. Eventually Sony will learn the hard way that their business model of chasing graphics fidelity and frame rates is on sustainable. There will come a time where people will have had enough of paying food knows for what are essentially the same kind of games.

The wukong situation should raise alarms with regulators if what the journalist are reporting is to be believed. Companies playing with consumers freedom of choice should always raise immediate concern.
Seeing that the jump from PS4 Pro to PS5 hasn't really blown people away, I am not super confident that PS5 Pro will be worth $700...if I didn't have a PS5 already, maybe, but I am thinking the incremental improvement isn't going to be enough for me to make that purchase, at least not for a while.
That’s my big question. Sony has zero qualms about marketing a third party exclusive, so why not market this? The popularity and hype was unbelievably high for literal years, so I would think Sony would proudly tout that exclusivity.
If you're talking about Black Myth: Wukong, the game is not exclusive. The developer had to hold back the Xbox version because they're having trouble getting it to run on the Series S, which is mandated by Microsoft. This is the same situation as what happened with a couple of other games, like Baldur's Gate 3.
The weird thing is that if IGN's source's claims are true, then that'd mean that Gamescience employees were straight up lying about an Xbox release. Maybe the people originally talking didn't actually have much of a role in Black Myth Wukong and just went off what they heard, but it's odd either way. It could also mean that Gamescience just gave up on an xbox release and just signed an exclusivity deal after it released, which would be more probable if we assume that everything said by Gamescience employees was true. That could explain why Sony didn't market the game that way and would be a good tactic to hurt Xbox sales. Although I'd be suspicious of IGN....
MS should drop the price of the Series X just a tiny bit in Japan and take the small loss solely to show that their console is a better value compared to the now ridiculously overpriced PS5.
In my opinion, as long as you have a PC release, you no longer have exclusivity, you have exclusion. They are paying the devs to specifically exclude microsoft, while still allowing Steam and Epic to sell their product. I think this sort of thing should fall under the scrutiny of anti-trust laws.
If it's their property they can do whatever they want with it. If it's a 3rd party, you have a point, but you need to prove that it's true. Which is in debate still right now. There are reputable sources on both sides saying there was no exclusivity agreement at all

I'll change my password and then it happens again the next time I'm forced to log in. I just don't play games that make me sign into that anymore. Like I always use passwords that are the maximum length allowed, or the maximum my password manager will generate. How people can get into my Ubisoft account over and over again is beyond me
What blows my mind is the fact they plan on releasing this console with no flagship game to go along with it. Not even an announcement of one next year lol. I just watched a video that was about the Wukong/exclusivity topic, which I commented on, so I will paste my opinion here: “I think it could be a mixture of truths. I speculate that the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Sony may be assisting in the costs to get this game ported , with the agreement that Game Science’s next game may have some form of limited exclusivity that will benefit Sony in the future. Their next title probably won’t be out until the Sony next Gen is available, and Sony intends to use that hype for more PS sales; thus, possibly try get Xbox users to transfer over to PS, knowing GameScience as a good studio, and having played their game on their Xbox; however, this is just my personal opinion. It’s a gamble, but one that could pay off in Sony’s eyes. These companies rarely do things that are immediately profitable, and are often thinking of the long game.” I’m not saying i condone these practices that Sony and Xbox are both guilty of, but I get it as a business practice. I just wish it didn’t monetarily punish us, the gaming community, in their efforts of maximizing profits. Until the gaming community unites, this is how it will be, and those selling the consoles are the only real winners. Hardware limitations aside, they know, as long as we are fighting over consoles, we are not focused on them, demanding more, and better games for everyone, to play the games on the console each person chose.
I really hope that the PS5 Pro comes out soon as I've been waiting and saving money to buy the console. Even if only release with digital only, as long as the disc drive is optional I'll be fine since either way I'll buy that disc drive. If the Sony Black Myth Wukong exclusivity is real, why and how do they always get them first giving Microsoft/Xbox have more money. Is it just a first come first serve kind of thing or did the makers of the game approach Sony first with wanted their game release on their platform alongside the PC.
Black Myth isn't an exclusive. But to answer your question, the reason it's easier for Sony to get exclusive games is because of their large userbase. Let's say the Black Myth devs wanted an exclusivity deal with either Sony or Microsoft. Part of the deal is that the devs would have to be paid for the number of copies they wouldn't sell on the other console. Since the Xbox Series is at half the number of consoles sold as the PS5, then the game would be projected to sell many more copies on the PS5. That means that Microsoft would have to pay the devs a lot more money to compensate them for the loss of sales on the PS5 version. On the other hand, Sony would have to pay the devs a lot less money, because the game wouldn't be projected to sell very many copies on the Xbox Series consoles. That's why Microsoft doesn't try to get exclusivity deals, because it would cost a lot of money, and they don't think it's worth the cost.
The PS5 Pro is gonna go down in history as one of the worst selling pieces of gaming hardware of all time. Especially if the price point is $600-650.. or maybe even more
The PS4 Pro was not a big seller either, nor was really the Xbox One X or Xbox Series X. Nintendo was smart sticking to one SKU in terms of internals... easier for developers, logistics, and casual audience members t o understand. Focusing instead of additional features (cheaper but mobile only with the Lite or more expensive with a OLED screen) wound up being a genius move.
My feeling on the whole disc drive thing is if there isn't one (not even an attachment) for the PS6 then I'm just going to buy another disc drive PS5 for long term use and that'll be it for me and Playstation consoles. A shelf full of games, full of movies, all that I wouldn't be able to do anything with if I got a digital only console. Not worth it.
@@ravenebony2267 I know hardware sells at a loss since the PS2 days when I was in high school, I think it’s amusing that you keep denying that Sony still OUTSELLS the Xbox and you instead just take personal jabs instead of forming an informative reply 🤣😁
So the price of a PS5 is going up instead of down, and they’re releasing PS5 Pro? I don’t think those people still playing their PS4 were waiting for a more expensive console, and having a PS5 I’m sure as hell not getting one.
Sony (and Nintendo) understand the industry far more than Microsoft, Sony is not buying everything left and right but helping developers with the development and locking in exclusivity, that’s how you do it!
I don't know, Sony since 2021 has been fumbling really terribly very openly. These lame moves to games as a service for non-established series has been an absolute failure. Only Helldivers 2, built off a Helldivers 1, was a smash success, but that was already established. That and the games... where are they? Sony does not make games anymore. And when they do, they are lesser games like the new Ratchet game and Gran Turismo 7, or have visible content cuts for future sequels like what we see with Spider-Man 2.
@@johansvensson833 No dude the reason FF16 and FFRebirth did not exceed expectations (they were not by all means failures in sales btw) was because square did not do what CAPCOM did with RE4R and released it on the PS4 and PC (Xbox is not that relevant because hardware sales are very low) also Sony had a hand in the FFR process and locked the exclusivity
Sony has done its fair share of acquisitions as well.. they just don’t have MS money, that’s the difference. MS buying ABK, keeping games on the platforms were they were + bringing to new platforms and gamepass seems like pretty good move for them and for the industry
I've been waiting for PS5 Pro before jumping in. If there's no disc drive, i won't be buying. I'm still perfectly happy with my OLED Switch, Xbox Series X, and PS4 Pro.
That's only because sadly they don't have any exclusive worth getting. So other than gamepass. There is literally no point in getting a xbox other then a cheap way to get gamepass

Calling it now. After the price hike in Japan, Sony will try to sell the PS5 Pro digital for 100.000¥ and the PS5 Pro with disc drive for 120.000¥.
This is exactly why competition is important.
It’s terrible that Xbox sucks and is basically no competition anymore. Sony can and will do what they want. Absolutely terrible situation for consumers.
Xbox has never competed with Sony in Japan. So, the price hikes aren't because of lack of competition there.
@@G360LIVE
While that may be true fluctuations of the Yen aren’t a new thing. When the Yen was worth shit in 2007~2008 against the € like 1€ for ~170 Yen, Sony didn’t increase the price of the PS3.
This is a first and it’s the second time Sony increased the price. The PS5 was 50.000¥ and now it’s 80.000¥.
At that point, especially since Sony’s games are all coming to PC eventually with 21:9 support (which I personally love) I’ll rather spend those 120.000¥ on a new pc and put my 3080 in.
I trust nothing from IGN...

Sony is not trying to compete with pc. They’re competing with Xbox and Nintendo and any other console related things. So yes. It is exclusive.
Sony should have bought the studio like Xbox then sell the game on Xbox

I’m a huge Remedy fan, and I hope their new projects don’t delay the games.
The Xbox Series and PS5 were basically Pro versions of the One and PS4. I still can’t imagine the PS5 Pro being a noticeable improvement
If they weren't based on the same OS and architecture we wouldn't have backwards compatibility.
@@thefool3424there is basically a virtual machine (similar to an emulator but much more performant) of the last gen running in the current gen. And yes the architecture is the same which is simple PC architecture and will continue to be.
@elcourier I think that's part of the problem. People who've been gaming exclusively on Sony and MS consoles aren't used to this kind of backwards compatibility even though it's been the norm for PC for decades.
I believe since the PS5 pro is similar to the current slim. The current disc drive attachment will be compatible with the pro. No need to create a disc version when you can get the disc drive separately.

Yup me with my spidey ps4 pro still getting some games for it even though I own a ps5
That’s stupid, just wait until PS6. This generation has been a bust.
@@Adamtendo_player_1there are plenty of games that spent 5+ years in development and came out with performance issues on the base ps5, not to mentioned you are forced to chose between crappy image quality@60fps or good image quality @30fps all the time now.
I guess you’ll need to wait and see. I’ve hold off from buying a ps5 until now, so i’ll definitely check it out
why didn't PlayStation market it if it was an exclusive? It would be a completely unprecedented thing for them not market it to sell consoles
@G360LIVE I'm wondering why this is even a story - is there zero integrity any more?
@@jdudbdjxb7687 it doesn't pass the smell test
There are reputable sources on both sides saying there was no exclusivity agreement at all
But they aren’t paying the Wukong devs
I use a password generator for all my accounts. Every time I try to play a game that forces me to log into Ubisoft, my points are gone and I can see that someone used them. I'll change my password and then it happens again the next time I'm forced to log in. I just don't play games that make me sign into that anymore. Like I always use passwords that are the maximum length allowed, or the maximum my password manager will generate. How people can get into my Ubisoft account over and over again is beyond me
They had a chance to redesign that ugly monstrosity and they kept the same style case?!?!
It really is a minger isn’t it…..
What blows my mind is the fact they plan on releasing this console with no flagship game to go along with it. Not even an announcement of one next year lol. Sony really is heavily relying on 3rd party this gen. I don’t know what Jim Ryan did but it sounds like he royally fucked Sonys studios by forcing the whole live service thing and set them back years in dev time.
You know I personally was never a fan of the ps5 design
I think it’s bulky and ugly HOWEVER mystic Ryan really put this into perspective for me. It is eye catching. You see that funky futuristic box and you know it’s a PLAYSTATION. It is THE HOME GAME MACHINE. He described it perfectly in a pod. My comment probably won’t do it justice 😅
Lmao, 60+ million PS5 consoles sold in less than 4 years in times of a global pandemic. The PS5 can look like an oversized asscheek for all I care. So long as it functions, I am good.
Clearly people don’t care what it looks like.
Weird because visually in terms of aesthetics, I think the Xbox Series X is my favorite system ever, while the PlayStation 5 is so ugly. Weird because I love the aesthetic look of the PS4 Pro and PS3 model I own way more than the Xbox One or Xbox 360.

I'm going to be brutally honest, a PS5 Pro is absolutely unneccessary. The reason being that both the PS5 and the Series S/X are gigantic disappointments. There is, four years into the generation, still no reason to any of the two systems.

IPs like mario, halo, Ratchet, Pokemon, hell even Five Nights at Freddies deserve it. . . but things like death stranding, allen wake and even something as prominent as The Last of Us. . . no. These are one-off IPs to trilogies at max, not mascot "franchises" like say, uncharted. I'ma make a hard stand and say, if the number of games your IP has is under 4, you shouldn't be making anything other than comics and more games for them for the moment.

I just watched a video that was about the Wukong/exclusivity topic, which I commented on, so I will paste my opinion here:
“I think it could be a mixture of truths. These companies rarely do things that are immediately profitable, and are often thinking of the long game.”
I’m not saying i condone these practices that Sony and Xbox are both guilty of, but I get it as a business practice.
Here we are talking about PS5 pro and I'm just sticking to my PS4 for dear life. No reason to buy a new console...
Srlsly no system sellers anymore
I really hope that the PS5 Pro comes out soon as I've been waiting and saving money to buy the console. Even if only release with digital only, as long as the disc drive is optional I'll be fine since either way I'll buy that disc drive. What I want to know is how much storage it will come with and if it'll still retain the 1 NVMe slot or if it'll have a second slot like a lot of higher end gaming laptops and a lot of desktop motherboards.

Who is this beardless intruder here in NewsWave?
Not defending Sony but you know how these fanboys will act. They outsold the PS Portal so I wouldn’t say it’s gonna be the worst selling by any means

Sony (and Nintendo) understand the industry far more than Microsoft, Sony is not buying everything left and right but helping developers with the development and locking in exclusivity, that’s how you do it!
but square has asid that they lost money on FF being only on sony
