  • Every year they end up draining the river and we end up with a dry river for most of the year. but eventually they release it back again and the water starts flowing in the river. today is June 2, 2022 and the water has already been released so we should be getting some water in the river here in Las Cruces soon.

Just left the Army and moved to Radium springs this December. I'm right on the rio. The river is beautiful BUT we were not expecting the bugs that followed. Suffocated our chickens. Love Las Cruces. Great video

Cool idea for a video. I imagine that shallow water and silty sand can turn into quicksand in some areas.

Is that rriver swimmable where you are standing? I would think it is full of agricultural run-off.

It might be full of agricultural run-off, Not sure tho. I did grew up swimming in it at the Arrey area just north of Las Cruces and never noticed anything. It isn’t very deep at Las Cruces but I would get in without worrying about it.
