This song is still full of soul that reaches the heart, penetrates through the skin to the nerves, then to the bloodstream and the bones and marrow. I would rather be with soulful people who enjoy music like this than anything else.
Brothers and sisters, it is time to stop the self hate, tearing each other down. Recognize the greatness and God given power that we have. The slideshow/pictures of intelligent, strong, and CAPABLE black men and women made me felt 10 feet tall. Excelling in every field of endeavor or discipline whether it is in music, sports, entertainment, politics, etc. Come on people, let's reverse the curse and stand in the Sun! Where we are meant to be!!!
So did I & when we finally were blessed with a Black President and First Lady my sons & I REALLY BLASTED IT.I thank God who was born in 1931 was blessed to have voted for him ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You are sooo right!! Could somebody please tell me WHO put THIS together. It gives you so much hope to actually SEE the forerunners. I Love it!@ 2022 here Ann Arbor Michigsn in the house!
Curtis your music was right on time! The music you gave to us spoke of Pride, Hope, Love and Joy. I still listen to your music today, and I plan to keep listening tomorrow and the day after that! Oct, 12, 2021
Oh! This made me cry so hard! And, this has always and always will be my very favorite! Today we need to spread this song and give tribute to "Mr. Curtis Mayfield" for his vision. He was such an intellectual black man even with his own struggles he was a genius, DEEP! I didn't just roll on skates to his music, I listened to his lyrics even as a child I knew he was deep and he was here to deliver a message and he did that well. RIH Curtis M.
This song became my favorite during the 1960s decade. I first heard it from a jukebox at a neighborhood youth corps organization for a youth summer work program. I love this extended version and the pictures of the various towns in the states of the United States. Creative Force did an outstanding job.
When Mayfield recorded this song in 69, I was in elementary school, and it made me feel like I could be somebody in this life. As a black youth, watching the Civil Rights Movement in the South was very discouraging, so I really needed to know that I could be a winner...
Think about this. Motown had teams of songwriters , and Curtis was matching their output all by himself! That’s one talented brother. Never to be denied his level of greatness ✊🏾✊🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL TRIBUTE TO BOTH CURTIS MAYFIELD & OUR PEOPLE! HE HAS SOME OF THE MOST AMAZING PERSONALITIES IN OUR CULTURE FEATURED HERE! I LOVE BLACK PEOPLE !
CURTIS MAYFIELD IS STILL A TRUE WINNER AT WHAT HE DID BEST PRODUCE GREAT POSITIVE MUSIC AND ABOUT LIFE IN GENERAL AND HE WILL ALWAYS BE MISSED FROM THE MUSIC INDUSTRY AND IT'S GREAT THAT I CAN STILL ENJOY THEM ON CZcams TODAY WITH THOSE GOLDEN MEMORIES OF A LIFETIME
My theme song every new year that the Lord brings me through all the struggles and obstacles I may and will encounter ... be continuously blessed and encouraged
Curtis was a genius and his music was way ahead of the time. Too many skylines, sports, and entertainers and not enough historical figures. Why not the Tuskegee Airmen, First Black General, Booker T Washington, Thurgood Marshall, WEB Du Bois, Jesse Owens, Charles Drew, Jack Johnson, Eddie Robinson, Frank Robinson, Art Shell, Whitney Young, Black Army Tank Division who saved George Patton ass in The Battle of Bulge. I could go on and name thousands more, but that would take all day so I'm gonna leave it right there. Peace and 💘 Love....
Curtis Mayfield is Americans bob Marley i love every songs he ever produce black indigenous males should play his songs (NO THING ON ME)%%EVERY DAY UNTIL THE HOLY LOVE OF THEMSELVES BE FREE ONE SPIRIT GUIDANCE TO OUR PARADISE OF SELF SUFFICE
This is WHO WE ARE!!! Every City across the nation... LEARN, don't BURN... Our CULTURE, our LOVE and our PRIDE made the CIVIL RIGHTS and the BLACK POWER movements so POWERFUL and AWESOME!!! Thank you Curtis Mayfield for lifting us up in past times that this country had it's knee on our neck!. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 RIP George Floyd. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Love this song since a kid in the 70's laughing running with family and having so much fun in Harlem. I guess they all moved up to a greater place. Rest in Power/Energy to every element with in the universe that has transcended. We movin yup we are all moving on up!!!!! Lester Marrow
And we are going to keep on moving it up we are the winners as people love mr. Curtis Mayfield music still plays on butterflies Always Forever can't take it away from me
some nothing some people were making your same comment in the 1950s and 1960s too and it slowed things down. That’s why we’re still seeing and hearing the same things in 2020. Resistance is futile though, right
some nothing please reread my comment. It was neither negative nor derogatory and does not mention color or race. It is merely an observation. This song is about spirit
So, we have to bring a song to school one that we like and have a meaning and this one came to me for some reason. I love song that make me feel black because I am black and I'm very proud of it. Curtis Mayfield created songs that had had a meaning for LIFE
This song gives a very powerful message to our young people and all of those who were told you will never be anybody it's a beautiful song and inspiring,

We're a Winner...was just listen too this song at work last week...2019 y'all should check out a song called This Is My Country by The Impressions, but yeah we still here in the trump era..
THIS A BEAUTIFUL & OUTSTANDING SONG AND VIDEO OF GREAT FRIENDS AND OTHERS FROM THE MUSIC INDUSTRY THAT WERE ALSO TRULY UNFORGETTABLE AT WHAT THEY DID BEST WITH THEIR LIVES
Stations refused to play this track. They thought it only pertained to black people and the "Impressions" were becoming "too militant". That was not the case with Curtis. Curtis was too intelligent and gifted for the powers that be at the time. Curtis was a profound, human being. Need more people like him.

The most-underrated and under appreciated artist of my lifetime. Voice only second to Luther Vandross
Really Luther!?? Curtis & Impressions was one of major artist for the older boomers 1946--1955. You must fall in later boomer range or younger?
I love this post and never get tired of it! Creative Force, I tip my hat to you for this exquisite production.
