    FYI I am using the Fantasy Hike app inspired by LOTR NOT the official Conquerer Challenges LOTR collab. That challenge is expensive lol (but you get metals). The Fantasy Hike is still fun and can be free if you do 1 mile a day, or a small fee to unlock the unlimited miles (I think it was 2 bucks).

    Good on you for "training" for faire season. That treadmill is small compared to the monstrosity we have but I need something to hold onto for balance & it has incline settings as well as a bunch of other features like calories burned, speed, distance, time, heart rate, etc plus some pre programmed routines if you want them. I love the idea of it being easily stored under your bed if need be :)

    • @DressMeUpScotty
      @DressMeUpScotty  Před měsícem +1

      I struggled a lot with balance at the start and really regretted not asking for the one with the bar to hold onto 😂 it WAS an option but I opted for this one thinking I’d easily be able to move it myself for when I wanted to walk while editing at my tall desk but spoiler alert… even this small thing is too heavy for me to move hahaha.

      That’s a good idea. I used to have ankle weights but I haven’t seen them since 2018 😂
      And yeah I do sleep a lot better the days I do the full 2 miles. I try to break up mile one for the morning and mile 2 after dinner and I’ve had good success with that.

    Nice job! At some point in the pandemic I had not really moved my body at all and my muscles totally atrophied. I could barely walk, couldn't stand up straight, etc. I was in so much pain. I realized that being active was very important to longevity... and happiness! It has taken a while but now I lift weights (even barbells!) and aim for 8k steps a day with a little cardio thrown in occasionally. It has totally transformed me. I feel so good! Lifting weights especially has made such a big difference and makes walking easier because my muscles are strong. Keep going! You've got it!❤❤❤

    Thanks for the inspiration to get on my treadmill and walk for an hour. The past year I’ve had some health issues and my quiet little neighborhood(2 small dead end streets surrounded by woods) was destroyed by a greedy Dr who bought up all the land and who ripped all the woods out to built an ugly subdivision around me. Trying to take my two doxies for a walk now is dangerous with all the traffic, heavy equipment in & out as they finish up the monstrosity. I’ve retreated to my 93 year old craftsman farmhouse and feel like a slug. I’m a tightfisted heifer so instead of getting the app you mentioned I found some hiking ASMR videos and hummed the Rivendell theme as I hiked through a Tasmanian rain forest. I only did a mile and a quarter but considering I’m a gal of a certain age(hint, I read the hobbit et al in HS in the ‘70’s) I think that’s a good start. Planning to do a 30 day challenge in June (probably while watching LOTR) but wanted to work myself up to that. Many thanks for the much needed kick in the rear. 😂❤

    Very cool idea! Walking outside would also add the benefit of fresh air and technical "detox" but if that's not accessible, treadmill is also a good option and this one does look very cute. Now that the weather is nicer here I try to cycle to work twice a week (roundtrip is 16km, so around 10 miles) at least, but my lazy ass also often gets the better of me and I'm taking the train still... Good luck to us to keep this up and get a little fitter!

    From someone who is a super-hiker and danced every day for almost 20 years, got sick and injured and had to stop everything for a while before coming back, you are smart for being consistent but also not forcing yourself to go too hard. I have pushed myself beyond what my body could currently do because I was wanting what it could do before, and this has held me back. It only took me a million times, but I have learned from my mistakes. Seeing you do it the right way reminds me that small progress over time is sustainable and builds, getting re-injured is not and sets you back farther.
    Also, I downloaded the app to try. I'm fortunate enough to live about a mile walk from a beach, so my goal is to walk to the beach every day that I can, and that should get me somewhere around 5k / 3 miles total.

    I was gifted a treadmill a few months ago, it's been a game changer. Start small and slow, (I'm very unfit and recovering from a fall injury) I started with half a mile twice a day, it only took me a few days to work up to a mile, then about 2 weeks to get to 2 miles. We've just been on holiday to bulgaria and if I hadn't done 4 weeks on the treadmill (just walking, I don't jog/run) and there is no way I could have coped with the walking and the hills in bulgaria. I also lost 15lbs while on holiday (we were only away for 12 days) so I'm definitely going to continue using the treadmill. You can also create yourself a 'walking desk' so you can walk while you walk or game 😉😁🥰

    Some inspiration for anyone reading, I hate working out and I mean that! But I have an office job so I'm sitting on my butt for 8+ hrs a day. Somewhere along the lines I gained 20 lbs and I dead ass couldn't fit in some of my favorite clothes anymore and I was gutted! Basically my whole closet is thrifted and pieces I've had for a couple years. That motivated me like hell, so my recommendation is if you don't want to go to the gym just don't. Move at home 3-4x a week if you can just dedicate at least 15 mins and give it all you got. Try to eat better don't fuss over dieting just try to eat smarter. Drink that damn water and try to cut your sugar! I totally ignored the don't eat carbs and dairy bs. After about 2 yrs I went from 180 lbs to 155 lbs, it can be slow going but we'll all get there ❤

    I've done looooooots of walking the past 5 years, mostly because of my limited physical capacity I've been operating at with several back surgeries, specifically a fusion done 2 years ago (and possibly more in the future, ugh). Audiobooks and long format videos have definitely been a fun addition to have going when I opt for the treadmill instead of going outside.

    I did the fantasy hike challenge last year! Started mid-Jan 2023. Finished end of March 2024. I serve for a living so that’s how I got most of my steps in! Also 3 dogs and they need walks! I found listening to an audio book very helpful when I would go on walks 🩷 also “Mr. Underhill” was always ahead of me and finished way before me, I recommend not focusing on him bc at times I would let myself feel down about it! Just know all of us hobbits like to go at our own pace & it’s okay to take your time 🩷

    I'm 64 and started losing muscle. I started doing 1/2 hour of yoga every morning last year and it's really helping. But I don't drive so I walk quite a bit. I had to switch my diet at 40 to chase down food allergies and avoid arthritis. That helped a ton. I found out I was allergic to the entire grain family. Can't do any sugar, even honey. So I do a keto diet that's mostly raw (have my own garden). I started making ferments a while back and that helped the tummy big time. But exercise is absolutely vital for well-being, which you know, but it's just part of the monkey 'bot. You're having trouble because of blood clots which hurt like hell (but not like having a baby.) Try garlic.

    • @blaireshoe8738
      @blaireshoe8738 Před 29 dny

      It actually IS helping. Rest days are important, physically and mentally. Physically, so you can recover and be in better condition the next time you go at it, and mentally, so you don't call it quits entirely just because you won't give yourself a break. It's a similar concept to "cheat days" in diets, except with a bonus physical recuperation built in (for the diets that can safely allow them, of course- breaking ketosis or consuming allergens on a whim is not advised). It's actually recommended that people take 1 rest day MINIMUM per week, regardless of fitness level or workout intensity.
      Honestly, I was impressed that her day off included an activity that still reminded and inspired her to keep going the next day- namely, the very DVDs you're complaining about. They were a good call.
