Landscape Photography in Greece with Morten Hilmer

  • It's so much fun doing landscape photography with a photographer from another niche like Morten Hilmer.
    Check out Morten Hilmer here: / mortenhilmer
    For one, Morten isn't a landscape photographer. Secondly, Morten rarely does any sort of landscape photography. So, it's been a lot of fun here in Greece trying to push Morten out to doing something a little bit different.
    Of course, even when we go out to do landscape photography, Morten finds any sort of animal to photograph. He found goats today.
    Eventually, we made it to the opposite side of Crete and found this really cool cave to photograph. I'm not sure the images are brilliant today, but we had an awesome time putting together the vlog regardless.

    I can tell you already Brendan, that your photos are MUCH better than mine from this day:) So inspiring to hang out with you. You need to come to Denmark to do some wildlife photography so that I can give you something back for all the great inspiration:) See you in a few hours for sunset..

      Hi Morten, if you are still in Hania area, and you want to shoot some wildlife, go find some Kri Kri Ibex up in the mountains.

    I love both your channels, I'm in the beginning of my career and although I may shoot weddings for the sake of money, wildlife and landscape is my ultimate goal. It is so true about landscape that you could go anywhere and there's always something, both your channels are highly entertaining and enjoy the work you do. Great stuff!

    Brendan, as you use the 100-400 do you find yourself not using the 70-200 as much or at all? with your style of landscape and street photography, I ask as i am getting ready to invest in one or the other. Thanks for all your responses to my questions.

    I had a chance to visit Greece myself in past and yes the landscape is absolutely beautiful there. Thank you for showing us around... I've been myself shooting quite bit this summer as I travelled in Czech also some landscape but very different then yours... :):) mountains.

      @BrendanvanSon  Před 6 lety +1

      How are the Czech landscapes? I've really only been to the cities!

    • @ZdenkaDarula
      @ZdenkaDarula Před 6 lety +1

      Seeing your videos and your photography style I think you would love it. I am originally from Jeseniky it is a lower mountains in East Czech. If you are patient enough, I'll be publishing cinematic movie I am just cutting where I will be showing off lots of that. BUT FOR YOU, I would suggest south of Prague there is awesome scenary around city Ceske Budejovice and then east of Prague mountains called "Krkonose" look it up. Since you love wildlife I also go every year to Slovakia where my husband is from. Look up mountains "Mala Fatra" and "VYSOKE TATRY". Vysoke Tatry is very high mountains there is awesome access there, view is just a killer and if you want wild animals, brown bears are there for sure mainly in Mala Fatra. Be extremely careful though, have a tour person with you or just go on tourist places. There is bear attack every year. When I went there, one attack happened a week before I got there. I go with small kids so I have to be cautious where I go myself. I hope all this helps. I'll be there next summer again...

    • @ianbrown704
      @ianbrown704 Před 6 lety

      Thanks Brendan. I am looking at a training video on travel Photography and it covers self discovery and one of the thought provoking questions was Why do you take images. They also said that because of there being over a billion cameras and phones being used on the planet there is no money to be made in travel photography as the shot will have already been taken hundreds of times already. I have followed you for the past 4 years and I immediately thought of you. David Hobby is the tutor, anyway thanks for the journey I see places I would rarely get to, thats said I am in Crete in 3 weeks!

    Always enjoy the videos as much for your sunny, globe-trotting optimism as the photography. (It's like vicariously experiencing the life I might have had, given the courage and the talent.) But that insipid music, dude! Please find something better, or just go minimalist and do without; it's really painful to listen to.
