  • We take a short look at the Ford F150 with the Tremor Package to dive into what has changed and why this truck is sold in the millions. With Americans obsessed with trucks, we used to question their usefulness and practicality. With this generation, they have smoothed out the rough edges and made it far more compelling than Silverado and neck and neck with RAM 1500. With the Toyota Tundra too new which would you choose?

As a European, I've never understood trucks. But then I moved to US and understood - recently we bought a farm/larger property and found ourselves needing to tow and haul frequently. We tried our best to not have to get a truck, but had to. I am not here to explain to anyone why I have a truck, my point being is now I understand those that use it frequently and for that, I reaaaally like our F150 (albeit used 2017).

    • @vitaly6312

Europeans are generally dense about American culture, and Americans are generally ignorant or clueless about European culture. As someone from Europe who has lived the majority of my life now in America I still don’t get how Europeans don’t understand our need for trucks. We tow more, we drive much longer distances and at higher speeds, do more with our vehicles (skiing, hiking/camping, farm activity, shooting and hunting, road trips, DIY, etc.) and for Europeans to just dismiss those facts often times shows their arrogance.

@@larsandersson5974 Eh, that definitely depends on where you've been. Big towns in suburbs? Yeah, tad silly for a loaded truck that can tow a ton. If you're outside of city limits (we now live in semi-rural OH, meaning big towns are about 20-45min away) and LOT of farms, you see a lot of animal towing and hauling of stuff, which is also what we got ours for.

@@vitaly6312 Yeah, I am currently back home in Czech visiting for work & personal after not having been here for 2yrs due to covid and the culture is def still changing and at odds with each other a bit. Europeans love their sport wagons or "utility vans" (like Renault Kangoo, not sure what the category is called), that's all you see in Alps and hoking trips and such. Trucks are still fairly rare here.
In US, you can't really get sport wagons and those kind of vehicles or they're not updated at all.

It's like the F-150 is at least a trim level higher and better fit and finish. If you don't go crazy on the options there is incredible capability and good value there. Yeah if it wasn’t exploding fuel cells it was faulty cruise control wiring. Every Ford I’ve owned has been recalled for a fire hazard, fortunately none has ever caught on fire haha.

On the american trucks, yes. Chevy and Ford have already issued statements about the trucks rusting on the lots around 5 years ago. Japanese seem to use better metal. haven't heard anything of the German trucks rusting.

It's not uncommon... TFL Truck covered it in one of their videos (I think on Andre's F-150 Powerboost). My 2019 RAM 1500 had it too, I live in Mass so salt on the roads is very common. It's minor surface rust, on things like the rear axle and control arms. I've take a rattle can to a few spots.

    Let's be real here:
Even though I own a 2017 Toyota Tacoma SR with a 4-Cylinder, I am STILL a Sucker for the Ford F-150 Line of Trucks.
That Truck is so commonplace where I live (Augusta, GA), that almost 1 out of every 10 Vehicles I see on the road (At least, that's how I see it) are Ford F-150s of Various Generations.
Heck, Some of the People I know from the Church I go to Drive Ford F-150's! (Lariat, XLT, and STX Trims, BTW)
So it's no surprise to me that it's the Most Popular Truck Out There. Heck, before I bought my Tacoma, I WAS looking at F-150's! (Primarily ones with the 3.3L V6 or 2.7L Ecoboost, since I mostly Drive Rather than Tow or Go Off-Road, and I am one of those people who just own a Truck just to say 'I Drive a Truck', I'm not denying that)
    Onto the F-150 Tremor:
I honestly don't mind this Trim Level, and I think it does what it is supposed to do. However, Once you start adding a lot of Options to this Truck, I'd tell people they're better off jumping to the Raptor or Dropping to the XLT-Trim if they don't really need all those features.
However, I am STILL not a Fan of the 3.5L Ecoboost V6. It's probably the Most Inconsistent Engine in their Options. I've heard some People Say 'It's the Best Engine Out There', and Other Say 'Total Garbage, Keeps Breaking Down'. I'd still stick with the 5.0L Coyote V8 or Base 3.3L Duratec V6 if you want something that's going to be 'Apocalypses-Levels of Reliable'.
If there's One Ecoboost Engine that I might Advocate for, it's the 2.7 Ecoboost V6. I've Test-Driven it MULTIPLE Times and have had a BLAST Every Single Time. However, I still have my concerns about Reliability on this one as well, but I've heard it's better than the 3.5 by a MASSIVE Margin.
I'm also still not a fan of the 10-Speed Automatic Transmission. I STILL feel like that's too many gears and it becomes a common source of failure in these Trucks. However, I have seen my share of people who've taken care of these Transmissions by doing Routine Maintenance, so I wonder if the Same Argument Supporting CVT Transmissions also fits for the 10-Speed Transmission in the F-150.
Overall, Ford continues their Tradition of Being the Bar for a Half-Ton Pickup Truck with the Ford F-150. And it's obvious as to why that's the Case:
You Can Essentially Customize This Truck to Your Liking! Want a Truck with More Function than Features? A Base XL with the 3.3L V6 or 5.0L V8 can do that. Do You Want the Best Off-Road Truck Money Can Buy? The Raptor might be for you. Want Something That's More Luxurious but can still Handle whatever you throw at it? There's the King Ranch, Platinum, or Limited Trims! You can essentially build this truck however the hell you want it, and That's why the F-150 is Ford's Magnum Opus. It is THE VEHICLE you Identify Ford By. PERIOD.
Every Detractor of the F-150 cites lack of Reliability, But Most F-150's I've seen broken down for ANY Reason are usually Old Ones with a Ton of Mileage. RARELY do I ever see a Newer F-150 Broken Down UNLESS it's one with the Ecoboost V6 Engines.
So Yeah, even though I am a Toyota Tacoma Owner (And a Proud One at That), I cannot deny the History and Legacy that the Ford F-150 has. It's basically the Undertaker of Pickup Trucks, IMO.
    SoundFX09, Signing Out.
