  • Lovers Key is a great state park which a lot of visitors and locals go to enjoy the day at the beach of fishing. Going North to South there are four bridges and we were fishing at the largest on the North side. It is an inlet from the Gulf and it can get packed with beach goers and boaters. This was our first time trying at this location but we had a time and a great day of fishing. If you take your dog everywhere you go there is a section with a large dog park and they can play in the water.

    Sting rays are actually pretty good eating. Kind of hard to clean though. Great video!

    Numerous mangrove snapper around those nearest pilings. Live shrimp or pilchers on a small circle hook with 1/4 oz of lead between the pilings works well. My family has had several fish fry's from there the past few years when on vacation.

      I agree with you. The problem I have is I always get caught on something near the pilings. :-). We mainly use live Shrimp but will use pilchers/greenbacks. I use my large pole and put mullet, whiting, or larger pins to see what I can get with that. It is a great place to fish.

    Excellent video. One tip,maybe walk away from bridge when you hook something big.😉GL

      Thank you for the complement on the video. I agree with you about walking away from the bridge. I have had black drums try to go back between the pylons and I am afraid of the line severing.

      @@SWFL_FISHING_239 Where did you catch it? What were you using for bait?

      @@BeyondFishingFamily its a secret bait! Haha and at the causeway we caught plenty of sharks there :)

      Sharks tsste like crap, there is never a reason to keep or use them for bait. Much better options than putting additional pressure on apex species in estuary waters.

    Great decision to cut line vs damage fish anymore than you have too. Always cut line short as possible!! Saltwater will eat up hooks pretty fast.

    • @BeyondFishingFamily
      @BeyondFishingFamily  Před 2 lety

      If the hook is to far down I will just cut as close as possible. I agree with you. Saltwater does eat up the hooks especially near bridges :-)

    don't keep sharks.

      Normally we do not but since black tips are a dime a dozen we will normally keep the larger ones. Bonnet Heads as well as long as they are big enough but most we let go. Bonnets Heads are only one per Angler anyway.
