- With the sunny summer weather seemingly stuck on repeat, I took the opportunity for a baking hot ascent of Derry Cairngorm. Looking at the blog now, I am of course kicking myself that I didn't go for a dip in Loch Etchachan!
Your films have a unique knack to capture the solitude and silence of the remote hills. Brilliant
We neeeeeeeed more videos from u ben 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Brilliant film as always Ben! Thanks for sharing and looking forward to your winter adventures.
Great video, haven’t done much walking in the Cairngorms, but hopefully that will change next year.
Great vid Ben, an area I know well. . It's the next best thing to being there. Please keep them coming.
Enjoyed your video mate very informative 👍
Nice one Ben. Just catching up with your videos. Top stuff 👍 👍 Very informative and your commentary is spot on for the wonderful surroundings. Will keep watching. Glad you’re enjoying the snow to…😊
Cheers :)
Thank you for taking us all along on yet another very long day out in the hills :D That view was wonderful where you had your tea and cake looking over towards the lochan and mountains. And that other lochan was so so blue. It does seam odd seeing you out in the hot sun though I think you should wear a hat to protect yourself :D Teddy
Really enjoyed watching this Ben - great to hear someone who knows their stuff, so thank you! Looks like a really nice route you took, think I might give it a go some time, maybe over a couple of days.
Thanks Barry. Yeah why hurry :)
New video..grab the popcorn 👌
Great video ben
Fantastic film Ben! I love walking in that area, it has so many hidden gems. I personally hope you work up there for many years to come, The vlogs you make are second to none :) All the best, peter. PS Glad you didnt find any discarded yoghurt this time lol!
Oh the yoghurt. Yeah that was a low point :-s
Lovely. An area I'm not very familiar with - yet. I cannot wait to visit Local Etchachan, and I'll definitely take my wetsuit!
It's interesting what you say about Gaelic. I visited China many years ago, and before I went I did an evening course in Mandarin Chinese. The different pronunciations of different words startled me - for example, the word for rice was "mifan" in some areas and "bifan" in others!
Brilliant as always Ben.....thanks for taking us with you!
Cheers!
Fantastic views on derry cairngorm and the weather WOW!
Really enjoyable thanks Ben for sharing ATB ALAN GREGORY ADVENTURES
Thanks Alan :) Yeah the weather's been unreal....but glad everything's going brown just now ;-)
Very enjoyable as usual. Thanks for sharing
No worries :) Thanks for watching.
Great video as always. I totally agree on bothies, especially in summer. The summit wild camp is far more rewarding. I come to the hills for solitude and reflection, not to be shacked up with strangers!
Each to their own.....but yep, not for me ;-)
Enjoyed the walk and chat. Marvelled at all the back tracking you must have had to do filming it!
Hence it being a long day ;-)
Great loop.. thanks for taking us along.. i have the same codition: never wanting to go to birthday parties, always having a blast when i do manage to go..
Ha ha! I'm similar, I dread parties.......but *tend* to have an okay time. That said, I only ever sit or stand in one place and don't go seeking out conversation. More than happy to chat to whoever happens to be passing ;-)
@@BenvironmentBlog sigh.. the outdoorsy type..
Brilliant Ben, you've gave me the itch to visit the Gorms again. Spring is definitely the best time to visit imo. You've certainly mastered cycling and blogging. 😁
We got the Hutchy to ourselves back in April 2013. Never had a solo bothy trip though. 🤔
I've seen Bog Myrtle repellent in the shops, but never tried it.
Cheers
Robin
Cheers Robin. I did see a vlog by Paul Kirtley a while back where he was swearing by bog myrtle in North America. Your skin goes green though ;-)
@@BenvironmentBlog I'd imagine Paul wouldn't use the stuff from a bottle but direct from the plant. 😁
Great video series bud! 👍🏽
Cheers Allan. I haven't been up a hill since that day, so I really need to get out again!!
another cracking film Ben - seems a long time ago that the sky was that blue with no clouds! soon the ground will be white though - roll on winter :)
Yeah it's not been the sunniest since around mid August. It was nice to see snow last week but looks like it's gonna get horribly mild again. Typical of the last few Octobers :(
Great film Ben. I’m much the same regarding bothies. Probably great to have one to yourself but there’s a slim chance of that nowadays. I was horrified to read the debate on various Facebook groups about smoking in bothies. So many people defending it and even a few comments about spliffs and the like. I don’t know what sort of person smokes in a bothy but taking drugs in one is unbelievable. Thanks for the film anyway and keep them coming. atb Stewart.
The bothy wars are brewing.
Benvironment Yes. I agree. Very sad though.
I had a similar experience in the Brecon Beacons with a guy coming off the hill who completely blanked me, what is wrong with these people!!!
No idea!!
You've been very quiet Ben? I can only assume work commitments, you've done your bit for CZcams or like the rest of us, just waiting for some meaningful snowfall.---- Hope all is well, anyhow.
Hiya - Oh you know, hibernating 'n' wotnot, waiting for winter ;-)
Don't stop the chat Ben!
Oh I won't ;-)
Love all your posts. Have you climbed Ben Nevis via the arête? Always wanted to do it.
Cheers...and yes I have. I saved Nevis for one of those September high pressure days, once the holidays are over, in midweek when the hill is quieter....and it was wonderful via the arete. Bit of a shock arriving at the crowded summit though!
@@BenvironmentBlog it will have to be done now i have a new car to get there!
@@BenvironmentBlog when are you going to post again? Love your long detailed walks? Hopefully something high
@@Gmoz79 Hi Gary. I'm eager to get out onto some new hills and do some new blogs, but given the seasonal nature of my work I can't really afford extra driving or holidays at the moment. I'm hoping that situation might improve this autumn but no guarantees :(
Superb video but just wee bit too much chatting!
Ha ha! That's the last thing I'm gonna change ;-)
Someone pressed the "dislike" button. Surely some mistake!
Ha ha! There's usually one or two dislikes on most of my videos tbh ;-)
