- Sometimes when we revisit a previous scene, we can add more details due to the skill increase over time. Never give up on a scene. Just rework it.

Thanks again. It is amazing how I now ignore the ads for new buildings, boxcars, etc. I am currently totally engaged in my new shelf. It doesn't look like yours but I am learning so much and have reclaimed so much pride in what I am doing. My wife smiles when she sees me coming up front the basement and says "what did you do today? You were down there for a long time!" thanks again
Great to hear! I don't pay attention too much to the new or latest thing either. I find myself engaged in the layout. Model railroading to me is about building a model railroad, not consuming more product to stick on the shelf and then sell for ten cents on the dollar when I grow tired of it.
Diorama construction is a skill that enables you to view the real world with a different set of eyes. A tip of the hat for all the content you provide!
The Art of the Diorama is an Awesome hobby I never grew tired of. ;-)
You are so right. Making scenery is indeed a lot like painting.
But more; it's painting in three dimensions using actual textures and real light.
I just love it!
;-) Yes indeed!
You nailed it! Having a smaller last-mile railroad lets you pour yourself into it and build a lot of detail and character. It’s why I love having a shelf/switching layout.
Right on!
Seven minutes on plugging in static grass. But no; it's a whole class on developing the experience. Wow! Thanks, Boomer!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Boomer, great video on revisiting, and improving each postage stamp scene.
That is why you are such a great teacher, thank you for taking me along on the journey.
Cheers, and stay safe, Michael
You are so welcome!
Hey Boomer
How are ya? Great video as always.
Your video got me thinking. I just put in a section of scenery around a marshy area and then realized that it didn’t work. But the great thing about this hobby is that.. you can always go back and change anything. Everything can evolve
Cheers for that
Bob
Sounds great!
Just so you know, on your recommendation, I placed an order with Intercity. Their service was great, the items were shipped right away, and the package arrived today. They even included a small package of gummy Bears, which made a hit with the WD! I now have a full service hobby shop I can trust! Thanks for the info.
Bart
Glad to hear it. Intercity Trains & Hobbies is a class act and the best thing that happened lately in this community. They really know how to run a business as well. Cheers and thanks for sharing! ~ Boomer.
Yes you are right. It is like painting. And a scene is never done. You just proved it. I going back and redoing some areas I figured were done. What a difference. Thanks again.
Wonderful!
To me scenery is very much like weathering rolling stock or a locomotive. You shot the base and then add layers with each layer you take the time to evaluate that layer and what is the next step to realism. Going back to a scene after some time you get a new perspective on what needs next layer. Thanks Boomer!!
Cheers!
I've been building a fairly large layout going on 2 years. As I'm learning from you and others I have gone back and improved/ detailed several areas. I didn't appreciate building structures enough at the beginning. Now l even scratch build and I enjoy it. 🙂
Great to hear!
I'm in the process of building a small diorama. The ground cover is almost all down, and this video is timely as I'll soon be trying to "stab" in some long grass. And I'm using straight and diluted acrylic matte medium for afixing the structures, track, ballast, and ground cover to the base foam layer. I dilute the medium with wet water made using Golden's flow aid. Finally, after a base coat of Tamiya paint, the track ties were painted using wet-on-wet VMA colors. So thank you Boomer for all your help. Cheers from Wisconsin!
O.K. Cheers!
Hey boomer, great video. Love the pic of the overgrown (abandonded ?) prototype track. Spent last weekend in SE BC researching proto structures for first attempt at a scratchbuild based on your excellent Evergreen styrene tutorials. While there I discovered 90 year old overgrown roadbed with ties just beneath the surface, very cool. What fun it is to research a project layout that is based on a prototype that I interacted with 50 years ago.
Sounds awesome. I love finding things like that. Cheers!
Never get tired of watching these
Thank you. ;-)
Every video you do inspires me. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing that. Much appreciated.
So glad to see this video this morning! I was very concerned about your well being after hearing of a pedestrian being hit and killed by a train around Duncan Way and 204th street on Wednesday. From working on the tracks in the area(CPKC) in the past, there were always homeless, mentally ill people living there so it was probably one of them.
I never heard about that. I am always extremely careful and make sure the engineer and conductor can see me at all times. Furthermore, I stay off the right-of-way when the trains are present, unless rail workers give the go.
From factual facts, just last month more than 6 tresspassers were fatally injured. Headphones, suicide ? One was lying on the track....
I stop there. Not funny for readers to know more. The rest belongs to me.
Thanks for taking care of Boomer.❤
“More life to the scene.” Now that’s a very cool takeaway from this particular vid, moreover the imperative ‘lesson’ from watching your vlogs! Cheerio
Boom!
We call that evolution. 😁 Cheers!
Indeed it is!
I wonder how the pinch technique will work in N scale. I'll give it a try over the weekend
Should work great. Just larger foliage per scale.
Danke!
Thank you very much for supporting the channel the way you do! Cheers ~ Boomer. ;-)
@@boomerdiorama You are very welcome :)
Where does the Taco-truck vendor park for selling his wares?😊
I know,....not enough traffic over by there. Chive ..On!
He pulls in at 11:45 AM . . . lol. ;-)
You struck a nerve...Im having a hard time staying engaged in modeling. I built an around the walls continuous run long narrow med size room..regretfully a duck under included..confess contious run relaxes me and is still a must, (I think) but I miss the smaller more compressed walk around detailed layout I used to have..your point to point layout is wonderful, incredible it is .. but Id be guilty of wanting to let it run through the scenery.. in all my 45 plus years of model railroading, I have never had a point to point ...wondering if I should give it a go..
Nothing wrong with continuous running if that is what floats your boat.
I got over that long ago. In fact, I could stare at my layout all day long without a train in sight. The idea of a possible train sighting with purpose, on my layout, brings me joy. When it does, I thoroughly enjoy it - and then I get back to building the world I love to model. Furthermore, what you do requires a philosophical change in terms of how you build the miniature world you choose to live with. Cheers. ;-)
For some reason this video is not showing up on my feed, even though I subscribed
It happens. Nothing to do with me though, Cheers.
Boomer, a quick question…I am going to add an abandoned track along my yard. What color(s) do you recommend for ties that are a bit sun bleached and old. Most of my working tracks have rustoleum brown camo with powdered pigments, but I need some lighter variations for the abandoned track. Thanks!
I like to use Tamiya flat earth and buff for those areas.
Perfect. Really appreciate the response and tip!
How can I send you some pictures of my trees ?
Not sure unless you upload to CZcams under your Google account. Then you can provide a link. CZcams account and channel is free!
What is the music? Cello?
Yes.
