As it turns out spending decades building high quality, reliable, reasonably priced cars is a good combination for sales.
@@naveenthemachineI just bought a new one and I very much disagree. It’s as good as any older Toyota I’ve driven.
@@michaelw6277Naveen is a perennial troll on just about every Toyota video.
@@user-vx7vi3vq1c thanks for the heads up!
That's what Hyundai-Kia has been doing. Hyundai-Kia also made them very good looking. So Hyundai-Kia was able to double sales in only 20 years, surpassing Stellantis and American Honda in USA sales.
Toyota prices are no longer reasonable
Not abandoning small cars has given Toyota dibs on a whole lot of customers who are now interested in something larger and more expensive.
Yes, they still sell an A segment car in Europe, the Aygo, below the Yaris. It is a very simple, well build small Toyota. Very fuel efficient, and sells very good. Stellantis abandoned this segment as well as Ford, Fiat. Only Kia and Toyota left..... . With gasprices in the Netherlands up to 9 euro, 10 dollar a gallon, no wonder.
Hybrids and high gas prices made Toyota the King. No one even comes close in terms of reliability except Honda.
Really how? The Carolla is trash at 25 -30k
Only a retard would pay 30k for a corolla
Yeap. N heres abit of numbers:
In 2022, toyota sold 10.5mill units. If u minus North america, europe and china sales of toyota products,,
Ur still left with abit under 6million units. So while it is undeniable that NA is the largest market for toyota, its global market is far bigger. And what kind of toyotas does the global market buy? Hiluxs, compact sedans, econohatches, and apparently $60k minivans😅
@@avdp9095 Ford's last USDM Focus and Fiesta transmissions were so bad Ford had to stop selling small cars in the US.
I love Toyota but toyota dealership salesmen are the worst
I wish we could just buy directly
It's better if we can buy direct because many Toyota and Lexus dealerships have market markups
Agree
ALL dealerships are scuzzy. I went to my Honda dealer for new brake pads and an oil change and it felt like I was in the hood and everyone was talking ebonics. Not a single white person except the general manager.
Their buying can be a headache, but the maintenance service is phenomenal.
They may be true for the majority of them but not in my small town of Russellville, AR. They are the best! 😊👍
Toyota is proof that having a variety of all car body styles is the key
Making cars that don’t break down when you drive them of the lot is key
And quality....they last forever when good maintenance
@@avdp9095so do honda, subaru and mazda.
I'm noticing that people are gravitating to smaller vehicles since the price of midsize vehicles are outrageous these days. Example Corolla and Civic....enough said.
That’s what happens when midsize prices are on Corolla and civic prices now. Remember civics used to be 30,000 and below
The new base Camry's are a great deal too.
In some places ... Like Japan... Corolla is considered a big enough car to be considered an executive car. The 'real' Corollas nowadays are the Raize, Yaris, Avanza and the Vios.
@@ChrisRobatoI wish they don't cancel the Yaris in the US.
In all fairness, the current generation small cars are physically the size of mid size vehicles of yesteryear got both a 90s Camry and a current gen Corolla and the Corolla is actually bigger in size 😂😂😂.
I wonder how many more Toyotas would be sold if dealers stopped adding $4000-$10,000 on top of the MSRP?
Doesn't matter, Toyota doesn't make them fast enough. I had to wait 9 months for a Corolla TS. Yeah, I ordered one, long wait, but then, no dealer markup, and I got exactly what I wanted.
Dunno if that's a thing in the US though, or you're limited to whatever is available on the lot.
The exact same. Just because one person walked away doesn’t mean everyone did.
Toyota king 👑
Yes
Toyota cares about their customers, factory workers, and the entire auto industry unlike some EV tech company.
🤣 ev company that is, shall not be named,
Elon do better
Toyota has my support. I'll give Accord a break. I'm getting that new Camry. I don't want any EV.
Elon's done for humanity than some cry babies on the internet, that he probably provides for you .
I'm a Toyota guy but you sound like an idiot trying to say Tesla does not. Elon actually produces something people want I know that's hard for you Hamas lovers but really .
In the past, Toyota emphasized that the EV era would begin in the late 2020s or early 2030s, but it grew gradually. Toyota took over ten years to debut the Hybrid Prius and 20 years to develop the Fuel Cell Mirai. And they're still developing safe, all-weather, dependable battery with a long driving range. Toyota executives repeatedly said, let's listen to what consumers need, want, and desire. Let them decide what type of vehicles they want to invest in. Toyota is traditionally well-known among consumers in Japan for "Toyota sale." & "They're conservative but sell well."
I was weighing getting a Camry or Highlander and the dealership experience in Vegas SUCKS. So I decided not to do business with them ever again.
Went to Mazda and got a CX 50. Since Toyota Motor Credit underwrites Mazda loans, my previous loan history helped a lot and we got a 3.9% rate along with $4k off MSRP
Wait according to Tesla nerds Toyota going bankrupt. 😂😂😂
They’ve been dead wrong for a long time. Comparing Toyota to tech companies. Every other legacy car company that went heavily into electric cars are regretting it
It is. Toyota's total debt is $240 billion. Last year, it was only $200 billion. Doesn't seem like Toyota is making any money. I think Toyota is selling their products under cost to compete against Hyundai-Kia. Toyota can't keep this up. $300 billion in debt is the end for Toyota, I think.
@@JohnLee-tb3nhDoes this debt contain deferred revenue? Also, how much of the debt is used as loans? Toyota borrowed a lot of debt at rock bottom rates in Japan, then loaned them out at higher rates. It’s similar to how financial institutions operate. But you don’t seem concerned about debt balances for banks.
@@JohnLee-tb3nh lol Toyota making bank off of hybrid vehicles. Customers decide winners and they choose Toyota.
@@JohnLee-tb3nhYou can see how much Toyota made on the income statement and cash flow statement. On the balance sheet you look at retained earnings.
Toyota hybrids absolutely smashed it in Australia in April. Toyota are over 20% of the entire market and Toyota hybrids are now 50% of all Toyota's sales so that's a huge win for their hybrid system.
What's happening with the Accord!

I think the people who were gunna buy a new accord seen the Camry and said yeah no I’ll pass on accord hello Camry 😂

Solid numbers from the Japanese brands. Some models better than others.
With Elon imploding Tesla, hybrids are the way forward.
I heard Tesla is suffering right now, including 10% layoff of its workforce and decrease of sales (including California, and evidence of slashing price). Their build quality is still horrible. Korean cars suck!
"What if we just made what the customers say they want?"
Toyota and BMW: Worth a shot, let's do it.
Every other car company: Nah, that'll never work.
Toyota not giving up on sedans and making the best hybrid vehicles is enough to show why they are still running strong. Unlike the other T letter company that keeps declining.
Acura Integra huge drop! That is what happens when you have customers like me who wanted to buy a Type S when first released but only to be met with huge mark ups here in California. They called last month offering my the previlege to purchase one for sticker. But yeah too late!
No one wants a 55k civic. They are sitting.
The worse part about toyota are the dealers. I’ve been to 3 different ones and they are all super pushy on extended coverages
Really? You’re surprised about the Accord? Just look at that thing.
Not to mention the Civic is almost as big as the Accord while being more practical, more affordable, better looking, and most importantly more fun to drive.
@@AbrahamArthemius But for comfort the Accord is way better. I have a 2016 Civic and my next car will probably get the next gen RAV4 or current CRV or Camry.
Not going EV and going hybrid is the way to go. Toyota figured it out.
Does anyone know sales figures for the Corolla Cross? I never see too many if them and curious to how they sell? Thankyou
That Accord redesign is a dud. I can’t get over how much better the last gen looks. Instead they got super conservative and built an unrecognizable blob. The new Accord design is worse than the Model 3 design and I don’t like the Model 3 design (though the Highland refresh is a little better). It just looks like a total NPC car.
Honestly? The 9th gen Accord looks better than the 10th and 11th gen.. particularly the facelifted/refreshed one.
Why? I think both gens look good, the new looks simpler which makes it look sleek and good looking.
It's almost like the Accord and Camry have swapped places.

I think most people in the market for a Honda or Acura compare it to a Toyota or Lexus. Because of the close similarity in price and design, they go with the Toyota or Lexus for the extra reliability
Great cars from Toyota but the issue lies with the dealers. The pandemic has made the overwhelming majority too accustomed to bending over their customers. It’d be tough to find anything MSRP anymore, at least where I live. The SE is being marked up and filled with garbage options to inflate the OTD to fully loaded XSE levels. They don’t let you refuse them either. And don’t even bother with an XSE, that’s being sold at Lexus prices.
Screw dealerships.
The new Accord is just hideous! Is it any surprise sales are down from the previous model?
I can proudly say that my April purchase of a Toyota Corolla SE hatchback contributed to Toyota's numbers. I was going to buy a LE, but the dealer couldn't keep them on the lot!
I continue to be surprised that people actually spend their money on the Korean products. Don't get me started about General Motors
I will spend my money on Korean before Chinese though because that’s a step further back😂
People always say Hyundai has come a long way and they aren't like what they were a decade ago. The thing is they have been saying the same thing for 2 decades without actually improving quality of their products. Consumers buying into their narrative suffers headaches.
Making faulty products which looks good ( cuz they poached some German designers from BMW ), attracting consumers with a 10 year warranty and scamming them up when it comes to actually claiming the warranty. Don't get me started on their auto combustion problems and recalls for dangerous reasons like auto rolling
How’s the Civic R doing
Toyota all the way ...I've owned Toyotas for many many years , and no ffffffff problems unbelievable
I have to say that new Tacoma price is ridiculously high.
I was watching another clip by a well-known veteran, and I mean veteran (50yrs + experience) car expert, and he broke down the concept of sales numbers...........It was really shocking, a real eye-opener!................. I'd never thought about it this way and what he said makes sense...............He said, auto manufacturers build what they sell, first to the dealerships......The dealership then, still, has to sell the car/suv/truck to the consumer.....In the eyes of the FTC, and from a transactional standpoint, every unit sold by the manufacturer to the dealership counts as a SOLD vehicle and is the actual number reflected in monthly, quarterly, annually reports that go out.......The sales figures are not actually the number of units moved out of dealership lots......It's ultimately the dealership's responsibility to keep each unit up to a set standard in order to sell to consumer as new......The most accurate sales figure should be an accumulation of units moved from dealership lots to consumers, based on tracking from dealer's sales, not how many units were purchased by dealers nationwide. Wow. What say you? 😲
Only Mercedes reports wholesale as you are inferring. The rest of these numbers are sold by the dealers. Dealers report to the OEM last day of the month.

Happy Days! Love to see it 😀
I rented a RAV4 yesterday. The basic 4-cyl is an anemic geezer. When you are trying to pass at 60mph that is a dog. When you are wearing sunglasses, the backup camera screen on the dash is so dim you can't see anything. It's nice and clear BUT it is not bright enough. Inside comfort and room very good for its size. Ride is smooth and stable.
I test drove a Rav4 hybrid, along with Tucson and CR-V hybrids. Interior was cheap feeling compared to the other 2 and the front felt cramped. My head hit the ceiling in the passenger seat. Not impressed with Toyota. In-laws have a highlander that feels BLAH inside. Went with the CR-V. No regrets.
Mid 8 second zero to 60. Seems good enough for me. Faster than most of the class in fact. Depends on what vehicle you're used to driving I suppose.
My 3rd Prius! 2024 blk limited this new car is refined and smooth almost like Lexus ,all wheel drive more power features galore! Everything works 50+ miles per gallon 0 to 60 in 7seconds!
Context, context, context. Mazda was pumping CX-30 and CX-50 sales with 0% financing all month long in April. No such incentive for CX-5. The CX-30 and CX-50 inventories were building and Mazda needs to move them.
Mazda lost the plot being so late to the hybrid game. I would never buy another all ICE car again with gas prices.
Honda's new Accord looks like a bar of soap with wheels tbh the rest is a good line up. Acura has a poor portfolio besides MDX and Teggy.
Acura has ZERO hybrids! CRAZY! Lexus has tons of hybrids!

Toyota always comes out on top - nobody comes close. Tesla will be a footnote in the auto industry in 10 years or less. Toyota will be the first automaker to "successfully" market EVs to the mass market.
Not just EVs, but continue to supply hybrids and enthusiast gas cars like the 86 and Supra, and hydrogen ICE cars on the way.
I didn't know the Kia soul was still in production. I don't remember seeing any on lots in 2021-2022
One question , when will we see a sienna hybrid plug-in?
Ain’t gonna happy. Those PHEVs goes to Lexus TX.
Acura must innovate or they’ll be left behind and become the next Infiniti. Honda had a good sales month, but with Acura and the Accord being down on the month, it makes it seem as if their demand is cooling. Civic, HR-V, CR-V and Pilot can’t stay on lots!
Acura slump is temporary. Their product line is still very competitive, and they have products coming in the pipeline.
@kirkkreifels to say that GM is best in sales bothers me.
If you exclude fleet sales and only do private buyer sales, does GM still overshadow Toyota?

Despite of China's EV car mass imports around the world Toyota is still dominating the world car sales thanks to their reliable HEV, PHEV, Gas and Diesel vehicles.
All of China car brands will never beat the sales of Toyota because many people and china car owners are concerning their customer service, quality and reliability like the Omoda 5 had a broke rear axle due to bad welding, Geely's unreliable cars, BYD fire issues due to poor quality on the batteries and more of other china car brands also had their issues on quality and reliablity.

I am a big fan of Toyota and currently own a 2021 Prius Prime which at the time of purchase cost me $10K below MSRP due to Toyota and govt. rebates. Today the same car is going to cost me $10K over MSRP because of dealer greed. That is a $20K price swing. That is insane. This could be the downfall of Toyota. And they better do something about it. My needs have changed and I have been looking at a Tacoma but because of the crazy mark up issue, I am looking at a Frontier as an alternative. I'll probably go with the Nissan something I never thought I'll do.
There are plenty of dealers who sells at MsRP, you do have to wait though.
@@jml9550 MSRP days are long gone, at least for now. I went to my Toyota dealer a few months ago. They hardly had any new cars on the lot. The ones that they offered at MSRP where the "undesirables.'" For instance they had a dark blue, standard shift, Toyota Corolla at MSRP. I guess nobody wants that car so they still had it on the lot and were doing us a favor by asking MSRP for it!!
I was looking at Siennas at the time. They had one LE coming in that was pre-sold. The rest of the incomings were Limited versions at MSRP of $51k plus whatever they were going to add and of course their markup once the car was on the lot. My guess, I was going to look at a minimum $56K, possibly over $60k out the door after taxes. Needless to say, I gave up on the idea of a new Sienna.
Wish Toyota would start making some affordable cars again. The definitely need a new sedan/hatch and a small practical boxy CUV near or under 20k.
Problem with subcompact cars is you have to sell them in volume in order to make money off of them, like 150k-200k units, and in America they just don’t sell well. People would rather just step up to the Corolla. Same thing with Honda when they had the Fit too. The Versa last year sold 24k units but a good portion of them went to rental car companies.
Under $20k in 2024? You're nuts! All their supplier costs, labor, energy, etc are way higher these days too.
My hybrid Sienna is like a chubby Prius - 37mpg and can tote 8 people.
Honda needs a more rugged Ridgeline with an updated V-6.Same goes with the Passport. Those will add 100,000 units annually to the bottom line for Honda if they get them right.
As for Acura,I think they need something to compete with the Lexus TX and it's great they're also bringing something to compete with the Lexus UX and other premium compact SUVs.
Exactly. Right now Pilot is crushing because of more rugged look and more off road features. Passport is a great car ( super stable, having great traction and AWD) but front, mild body change without more off road features in Trailsport is not enough to compete with Jeep or Toyota. Most people do soft off roading (hiking dirt roads and such) but having extra off road capabilities would make Passport and Ridgeline fantastic for many customers. RAV4 became super popular when look was changed to mini 4 Runner. People are obsessed with 4Runner due to branding and reliability. If Honda makes good changes in these two models and gets handle on more reliable supply parts it would be dream to own for most 4 Runner potential purchasers. Most of the people are not very familiar with Passport's current platform or how this car drives. Everybody is making 3 rows SUV's now which are replacement for minivans customer base.
Honda will never compete with Toyota on real trucks.
I thought the MDX now competes with the Lexus TX though
@@sk-un5jqThey never tried nor they ever will. More rugged doesn't mean full blown truck. Mostly all former SUV's are not on truck platform anymore because majority of people who purchased them in a past or buying them now, are not looking nor doing full off-roading. There are tons of people doing overlanding in Subarus yet Subarus are not trucks. More rugged look and extra features like they gave Pilot would make Ridgeline and Passport great vehicles for 80% of current Toyota 4 Runner and Tundra people and even in current form they are more comfortable and have better MPG than Toyota 4 Runner or Tundra.
Nice! Subaru is on rise too 🔥
I'm not surprised by the sales of the Prius. What's the point of having one when other Toyota cars will now be hybrids too? What more does it have?
The Accord is such a nice car and I love the rear seat legroom in my parents' '21 Accord. But I feel like Honda is keeping it somewhat neutered (no more 2 liter turbo, no AWD) to avoid having it compete with the Acura TLX.
Yup. Honda has made so many strategic blunders the past decade and Toyota blew by them by an even wider margin. It's 2024 and Acura have ZERO hybrids! How crazy is that?!
on 4/27 I bought for a great price a Cavalry Blue Camry SE AWD non Hybrid/ non CVT... and I'm very happy!
Kirk, How About the Motorcycle 🏍️ Industry....How are they doing Lately😎🤔🇺🇲???
I love my Solterra I got a steal of a deal on a 2023 demo unit.
Honda betrayed the Accord it looks bad inside and out they got cheap with the smaller cheap fixed headrests in the back, the interior is cheap the seats are cheap and the 10th generation seems so much better and better designed. The Accord used to be a step between Honda and Acura now in just feels too much love a Civic and CR-V there isn't anything that makes it special and it's so bad looking no one wants to pay new car price for it. I don't blame them. The 1.5T is Terrible in the cold. The Hybrid is DI only now, not reassuring for longevity vs the Camry D4-S.
Acura has no Halo car, no Hybrids in the line up and the Integra is too expensive & should offer a coupe to differentiate itself more from the Civic. If they could give it Double Wishbone front suspension maybe it would be worth it's current price.
People don't want to pay lots for bad cars, they're fed up. Honda/Acura has to do better.

No, they actually have a smart strategy for transition. Take the Tesla cultists out of the EV camp and you immediately get rational opinions.
Wait, so a company that doesn't give a sh.. about EV's seem to be doing fine, what can not be said about anybody else?
Is the market actually speaking now?
They care about EVs, just not bringing them to the market before they're wanted haha
Acura/Honda design is too boring. Acura from iron beak and now do not exude premium. The interior with a giant drive mode nob is just silly.
Too bad Camry is hybrid only, now... hopefully they do another TRD variant for enthusiasts. That said, a bazillion existing ones to do exhaust work and tuning like my 2003.
Sales are up, but unfortunately production lags behind, espescially on hybrids . And of course that leads to Greedy Dealers jacking up the prices. Soon people will complain that, "If you buy at Toyota, you're gonna be fleeced". And Toyota will lose its affordability edge from Toyota's institutionalized "Economy of Scale", by local dealers undermining it's historically affordabe reputation.
If Toyota sold direct to the customer with no markups they would probably put a lot of car companies out of business.
when are we going to see inexpensive hybrid sports cars
That... Kind of defeats the purpose. Hybrid system + hybrid battery + sports car = lots of weight unless it's a Miata
Solid state batteries
Rav 4 sales up. Locally, often with a discount. Good supply. Cheaper than the Corolla Cross.
Subaru has good incentives and interest rate deals. Outback might have slowed because of rumors of 2025 redesign (which is not happening). Their announced 2025 prices look good too... no huge increases.
naveenthemachine hate this news , tbh
They really messed up the Accord design on the front end, hurt sales massively. The previous gen looked infinitely better
They're successful because for the most part they actually deliver what their consumers want to buy.

This doesn’t include what they make overseas - the variation of the Land Cruiser, etc.
Or Lexus.
Toyota has turned out excellent products, but their pricing on trucks and the 4 Runner has gone a bit too far. Add the dealership markups and that makes it a nightmare. Many of our customers are purchasing used Toyotas and we’re just taking care of their needs without the debt they would incur. Hopefully Toyota leadership will open their eyes to their loyal customers and out a stop to dealership gouging.
Don't see any good offer from Toyota anymore. I guess only Camry LE makes sense. So this comes as a surprise to me.
Models finally coming in stock at good prices, some below MSRP at one of my nearby dealerships. Sure the financing won't be great thanks to the fed, but they know what they can get away with charging. While the Prius sells so quickly they don't have an apr offer for it.
I guess the question is, compared to which automaker? RAV4, Grand Highlander, Corolla are all competitive.
@@ytj22 I'm comparing to Koreans.
I think Toyota compares VERY favorably to the Koreans.
Looking at their prices they will do it to themselves.
agreed lease the Solterra. Ever watch the commercial. I bet a rock to the bottom would make everyone SICK. Trying to make it like the others Subaru's they advertise, Fun to drive in the wilderness. They are not!!!!!!
cmon toyota bring out that sweet looking mr2 successor
Cool
Wat about nissan
They report quarterly
They said in the 80's their goal is to be #1 transportation company in the world. Thats great but i do not own a toyota, just not my thing.
why mdx down and rdx up (Acura). makes no sense
Lexus TX directly hurting mdx
@@MikeForsythe you must be right. the TX and GX are direct competitors (not to mention other new players) but still I find the RDX's strength and MDX's weakness very surprising (RDX is 5 years old)
