Addictive FILIPINO STREET FOOD - BATCHOY in Iloilo City

- We traveled to Iloilo City for the Dinagyang Festival 2019 and used this opportunity to try some amazing addictive Filipino Street Food. The dish we tried was Batchoy which is a local delicacy in Iloilo City.
Batchoy is made of an intense broth containing. Pancit, a filipino variation of ramen, pork liver, chicken innards and strips of beef and vegetables. Batchoy is served with a heaping of fried garlic and crumbled chicharon bits. Additionally, they served our four portions with an extra bowl of broth. Our four bolws of pinoy iloilo batchoy amounted to 600PHP total which is a bargain for the huge portions of Batchoy we had.
We had yet another phenomenal pinoy food experience in Iloilo City and will continue this food adventure tomorrow with some more pinoy street food and filipino snacks on the shores of Iloilo.

Batchoy originated from the Chinese community in Iloilo. They wanted to serve the Filipino/Spanish folks the same soup so they modified it to be more Filipino... the local way to eat it is to consume the broth first and then you can ask for more caldo (soup) and when you have enough of caldo you can eat the rest of the meat and noodles

Hai sir you reminding me iloilo we was there in iloilo last 2014 that time sir mike that was may first time having vacation there in phillippines and actually iloilo city was wanderfull province well its very clean and not dirty like othere province or leat say manila its actually big and dirty and Batchoy sir mike its really taste good wow im missing all original pinoy dishes and we spead at least one week there in iloilo city and i remember people not allowed to smoking in street thats what i remember sir mike and specialy people there are so friendly ilonggos people sir Ma'am are so respecttable and so friendly to as sir mike when we was there and we had so many photos and subiners and goods memorys and ofcourse we had a great time there in iloilo city and i hope your enjoy your vacation there in phillippines sir mike and how did you like may country sir ma'am and just ask if you dont mind and how many times you ve'been to phillippines sir Ma'ams

that first spoon, george, just made my mouth water. this is the original authentic lapaz batchoy that i have come to love. i seldom go to iloilo because i stay in manila, but when in iloilo, i have to eat batchoy. it is a must.

Should visit Davao too. Known as the Fruit Basket of the Philippines, Home of the Philippine Eagle, Home of Mt. Apo (Tallest Mountain in the Archipelago). Especially every August for the Kadayawan Festival (this time youll witness a celebration of native Filipinos before colonization took place), celebration of thanks for the good harvest. Abundant tropical fruits can be found during the said event. Nevertheless, enjoy your travel here in the Philippines the same way how we Filipinos love to see foreigners learning to love how we are as a nation. Kudos! 👌

I always hear this Netong's La Paz Batchoy from an Ilonggo friend here in Laguna. Now I've seen it and witnessed how non-Pinoys liked it. Thanks to your vlog. Next move is to go there in Iloilo and really taste Netong's Batchoy myself!

You should also consider visiting Bacolod City which is just less than an hour away via fast ferry which is located in Negros Islands. They are also speaking the same language there which is Ilonggo or Hiligaynon like in Iloilo.. They have a very festive & world class Festival every fourth Sunday of October in Bacolod city.

Yes, and don't also forget to consider Guimaras island and try their mangoes there.
Yes, the 3 places - Iloilo, Bacolod & Negros share a lot of things - batchoy, inasal, bacolod express, pancit molo, panucha & piyaya. The Spanish Filipino natives used to own vast tracts of lands called "hacienda". They became rich from growing what we now call muscovado sugar. Thus the mansions from the Spanish era dot the region. Sadly, most of these families have abandoned these historical mansions by migrating to the US or Canada.
I suggest staying in one of those old mansions converted into hotels so you'd get the feel of life in the 1800s. There are some of those in Ilocos, Cebu & Davao. If you love Architecture, history & food as much as I do then you won't be disappointed with your travels in the country.
Oh yes! Bacolod is nice, especially the Bacolod chicken inasal!

As always another good video. I can see by other comments that the Esplanade has already been recommended, and I will also concur with that. Great place to be at sunrise or sunset for some fresh air and the beautiful scenery.
