Who is Vivek Ramaswamy? Interview with presidential candidate: "America has an identity crisis"

  • "I was born in 1985 in the best, greatest nation on Earth. But if I had been born 20 years later, even in the same place even in Cincinnati. I don't think my story would have been possible in the same way. I'd have been taught to be a victim. Rather than a victor, a winner in America, I'd have been taught to embrace grievance. Embrace the color of my skin more than the content of my contributions in the qualities that make me who I really am," Ramaswamy said.
And it is that idea that is part of his platform as a GOP Presidential candidate. He describes it as a national identity crisis.
"People my age, really any age today, are hungry for purpose and meaning at a moment when we've lost our sense of American identity. (We've) lost our sense of faith, patriotism, hard work, family. The things that used to ground our sense of identity. That's what I think we're missing," Ramaswamy said. "Though I am running for president, it's more of a cultural campaign to revive the heart soul and identity of this nation."
Ramaswamy says America has gotten away from being able to have open dialogues about tough issues and from being a meritocracy.
"The idea that you get ahead, not in the color of your skin, but in the content of your character and contributions. These are fundamentally American ideas. We have lost our commitment to those ideas. But I don't think that has to be permanent. I think we can rediscover that."
He says he is a conservative but doesn't like the political labels, calling them "artificial."

Saying someone is an “affirmative action” candidate would be received as a slur, so why should black ppl fight hard to hold onto a practice that implies our lack of capability to be judged by the objective standard that apply to everyone else. It’s a patronizing practice now, and black ppl should be insulted by it.

Not only have Affirmative Action helped black, it has helped Hispanic, Indigenous and even Vivek, and women. Let’s get rid of the old boys clubs, that is still around. I as an independent voter would never vote for this inexperienced man. Are we voting him in on Affirmative Action? What qualifications does he have running a government? None. What experience he has dealing with foreign leaders? None. Talk is cheap, experience is everything. No thanks, I am not that stupid to waste my vote.

Vivek is not a career politician and I don’t believe he plans to make it a career, that is important to me. Too many politicians are in the job not to represent their constituents or their country, but just the politicians best interests that usually involves back door pay offs and insider trading.

If it's inside his house, then Indians/Asians take off shoes inside the house. It's a combination of climate and cleanliness that applied to South Asia but is a norm at home for expats and immigrants too. Not religious.

Yes it's a religious thing. Vivek is Hindu and this is what Google says regarding the said practise:
"In India, it is also customary for shoes to be taken off before entering others' homes. It is often considered by hosts, as rude when guests keep their shoes on whilst inside the house. It is considered sacrilegious to touch books with one's feet and an insult to point one's feet at someone".
I trust that answers your question

Hard to trust Vivek. A Hindu going to a Catholic school and using the Christian word God. If he stays true to being a Hindu, he is going to face the "Ameica is a Christian nation" mindset. Like all politicans, he should just keep religion out of it. Good luck!

I agree with age limit being raised...people don't research anything. They go off of what they say, like they're speaking gospel and don't lie! Vett your choice, research them, who paid for their education. Things like this really matters! You can't just trust what they say!!🫣 People actually lie!
