The Spartan-George V14 dagger was made in tribute to the original V42 fighting knife. Time to learn.

- The V42 fighting knife was developed for the FSSF aka the First Special Service Force in 1942 and was heavily influenced by the British OSS Fairbairn/Sykes stilletto fighting knife. It was carried into battle by the The Black Devil's of the Devil’s Brigade. Not a blade for camp chores but for the dirty night infighting that they became famous for. Today, the V42 is still relevant being shown on the patches and unit crests of current day Special Forces units in bothtthe US, Canada and wherever the Green Berets may be found. I hope you enjoy this tribute video for you not only get to see a tribute knife but can also learn who the original was made for and their vital mission which continues even today. Have a knife day.

Just received my green/black V-14 from Spartan Blades. It is without doubt the finest knife I have ever owned. This video is what solidified my decision to purchase said blade. Top shelf review of a top shelf knife.
Thank you. It’s an epic blade.
Best video on the V14 Spartan and loved the history about the V42. Thanks for the time you spent making and telling the story of our proud American fighting forces! Great job!!
Thank you so very much. I served at Ft. Bragg. I appreciate those that have chosen the less traveled path of the special forces. What a rich battle history.
Oh yeah that combat dagger is amazing!!!! Spartan Blades!!!!
The long belt loop harkens back to the F-S spatula sheath.
I wish I could purchase one in Massachusetts. After purchasing the Spartan/Harsey Nessmuk, I had to have the Fighter as well. I'm sure that this knife is of excellent quality & craftsmanship as well.
It truly does. Spartan blades quality is always top notch.
A fantastic video, thank you for posting - beautiful edges on the blade and the modern handle is perfect. Appreciate the time you put into this and your other vids.
Thank you so much. Greatly appreciated
great to learn about the history behin dit. thx man!
You are very welcome 🙏🏼
I heard different. I heard V14 was a tribute to the Fairbairn Sykes pattern 3, it shares the same foot print and handle; and the Harsey was a tribute to the V42.
Excellent history!!! Thank you!
GOD be DAMNED if THIS isnt the BEST review of this BEAUTY on internet !!!...AWESOME video , I freaking LOVE mine Spartan V - 14 in flat dark earth - SEXIEST blade ive EVER seen !!!...
Very good over built dagger, the original was a little thinner for rib sideways blade stabbing to get to lung and heart ,but with that thinker blade and stronger steel ain't much going to stop that monster dagger 🗡️
It's a very respectful honorary reproduction of the V-42 WWII Combat Implement. Fantastic chose soldier ,you get some of the very finest blades being made ⚔️🎱🎱🎱⚔️🎱🎱🎱⚔️
I would love to own one of those Spartan Daggers 🗡️.
Like them from the first time I saw one on You Tube 😊
Thank you sir 🫡

A unique review. I like the style.
This knife Is out of my price range, but I do appreciate that it is superbly designed and made. A heirloom kinda knife. Not many things currently made, today, will still be useful in 80 years. Maybe this should be considered an investment. No different than buying a classic car.
Thank you very much. I appreciate your support.
Better to have and not need then need and not have 👍🏼
I just got my Difensa and that Kydex sheath was near impossible to remove. It was so tight that it’s worn the brown cerakote off the blade in spots. I chalked it up to normal wear but for a knife that is that expensive… I expected better. The knife itself is beautifully built but the sheath has already messed it up and it hasn’t even seen use. I DO NOT recommend the Kydex sheath.
I’m really sorry to hear about it. Have you talked with them about it? I wonder if the is a solution going forward? Maybe adding some sort minimalist of spacer during the forming process.
I have a question if you could help with. Before i ask, i just wanna state that i am fully aware of what the V14 is designed to do. It is designed as a stabbing knife as opposed to cutting. However, when i get a dagger i like to have the dual edges shape to at least be able to preform moderate slashes if need be. Ive heard mixed things about the v14 from its dull as a butter knife with no edge to sharpen to its as sharp as a dagger of its design is supposed to be, which the truth is probably the latter, however if you ever did want to sharpen it, i would be really skiddish to do so being how much it cost and wouldnt want to mess up the knifes profile. Not that i mess up knives when i sharpen them but i have never tried to sharpen a dagger so expensive. So i guess my questiong finnaly is, if one were to sharpen the v14, would you recommend using a sharpening set with a set angle to not mess up the angle such as the WorkSharp, or would you stick with just the good ol WettStone and strop ?
Currently, for some of my knives I have them done professionally. I send mine to Tom Veff. Ideally any combat knife should be able to be sharpened in the field with a stone but then there comes the practicing to get it right. Maybe find a cheaper version to practice with to hone the angle muscle memory. With the new sharpening systems it would be interesting to insert it into their clamp and either setting it or get an angle 📐 checking device to hit it geometry.
Wtf have you got there, Son?? ;)..... Lol AMAZIN
Daggers are hard to make when hand ground. I'm almost certain that would have been made by a cnc machine.
Well when making hundreds of knives you find that Mid-tech knives become the solution. Of course one guy or a dozen, making daggers which have very specific grinds isn't practical. Not practical in time or in price point. How much money do you think a military service member has as disposable income? From first hand experience I can tell you that it is the exception more than the rule. I'm a past commander of an American Legion post and have made it a point to give a good, decent knife to my younger friends who joined the military and are getting deployed. It is helping the next generation have what I personally didn't and everything else after that is prayers and being there for them upon their return.
Does anyone know how wide the blade is at it's base?
From where it says S35VN it is 7/8in wide
@@haveaknifeday Thanks!
You are welcome
Has anyone ever seen Curtis Iovito and Ted Cruz in the same room together?
Strangely enough, no 🤫……

Thank you so much
Makes total sense now. Didn’t know they did kydex too.
I added that to the descriptions page
@@haveaknifeday No problem, I prefer the finish on the Okuden sheaths but both retention and design wise CLW are excellent.
Very true
This is such a weird channel. Maybe suited for someone who has never even spent 10 minutes with a quality knife before.
So, perfect for you you’re saying. Excellent. Maybe a veterans humor isn’t for you? I know many makers from high end to low. But here’s your opportunity to start your own channel? I do this for the love of knives and their history. I do it for the love of the history and heritage and for the fact that when I was a young paratrooper going to Iraq that I didn’t have the funds to buy such fine knives. So, what’s your background again? I mean if you’ve always had the ability to buy the higher end knives and were in the military than congrats. Have A Knife Day
There's always a comment like this on a knife or gun video.
Here’s his opportunity to do better, am I right?
