15 Shiners Vs. Hungry Alligator Gar!

- In this video, I go to a local creek to cast net shiners for my pet alligator gar. I ended up catching 15 shiners and brought them to the fish tank for Brazos. He ate two and got full so he stopped eating. Thank you guys for watching!!
Brazos has grown and so has his food. I remember back when he hunted baby minnows with his sister Trinity and like Austin before them.

Thank you for the update on Brazos! I like that you are feeding him/her its natural diet. The striking technique is interesting. It doesn’t open up its mouth with a suctioning gulp like the largemouth bass do. Instead it hits its prey from the side. The same striking technique as an alligator. Hence the name of course. Alligator Gar. Cool!!

You do such a nice job of telling us what breed s you catch with the cast bet and then letting the future sport fish and pregnant fish go. So there will be future fish to catch.

Fun fact: the topminnow is actually a species of North American killifish, and the african varieties of killifish are very beautiful and pretty popular in the aquarium trade

May I suggest only putting what the Gar can eat in one day in the tank. I used to work at a Tropical Fish Shop. Whenever people filled the tank with "feeder fish", their main specimen fish would pick up diseases and parasites from the feeder fish that were swimming around for days.
And never dump water from feeder fish into your tank.
Keep feeders in a separate 10 gallon tank or a bucket with an aerator or filter.
