  • An honest owners review of the Audi A6 Avant, 3.0 V6 Quattro BiTdi.
Here we look at the highs, the lows, the sound and what boxes it ticks as a general all rounder.
This is my second ever review and I had a lot of fun shooting it, this particular car benefits from the Kufatec sound booster which I will be covering in an extra little video soon.

I'v got the A6 Allroad BiTDI and it's amazing. On road it's a pleasure, smooth as butter and with enough pull to keep you happy especially given the weight of the car. Off road it's just incredible, the grip is really surprising and you really can go everywhere especially when jacked up with air suspensions to the maximum setting.
The sound as well is addictive and has grown on me especially around town where I can listen to it all the time.
Top speed is crazy, but you do have to strike a balance between road and offroad tyre size depending on how you use it, as I personally would be wary of offroading with 20inch rims on. It's a bit heavy car which pulls away very well but could do with some mapping the ECU just to give it that extra grunt I like.
The boot is not as big as the car looks, whilst the central console layout could be better as the controls for the aircon are really low down and can be distracting.
No complaits though as it's a wonderfull car that can do it all.

Got my A7 BiTDI (313PS, 650Nm) at the end of February and I got a Stage 1 ECU Remap tune on a Dyno with a Engine Carbon Clean done to it.
Before tune: 310hp, after carbon clean:315hp.
It's now pushing 345hp (32hp gain) and 735Nm (85Nm gain). My tuner wasn't too happy with that figure as from his experience (the BiTDI engines,) they can push surpass 350hp and 750Nm (dyno figures) . He suspected that it was due to the previous owners driver adaption profiles that they weren't pushing it hard enough to squeeze the power out of the car. He spent 8hrs on it that day tuning and carbon cleaning the car. He said to return to him for another tune free of charge after I drive it harder for a bit.
The Stage 1 ECU Tune does make a massive difference. Its much lighter/smoother when taking-off now. The throttle response is so much better. Well worth the money to get the 2 things done to it.

Mine was 329hp stock, went 367hp and 721Nm, MPG is clearly up, and that torque is so addictive... hard to beat for the price, and although it's not a sleeper people still don't expect such performance for a non-S or RS audi...

Just came across your channel today after looking at a 2019 A6 Avant 3.0L TDI V6 Black Edition online and was looking for a review. I presently drive a Discovery Sport but was looking to change and as a boy in the 70's Quattro's were the dream car. It is the only car I would consider changing into. I think the A6 looks better than the A4. I recently had a drive in the SQ2 but it didn't really excite me. I was really impressed with your film so I subscribed and wish you well for the future. I had a look at a red one also, somewhere in the north east of England, cant be far away from you judging by the accent.

I’ve been considering an RS6 for a few weeks now but having had a few expensive and under used sports cars over the years, I’ve done a little bit of research on the bitdi, as it’s probably 75% of what I want for 50% of the cost. I’ve also been lucky enough to have a few nice ‘second’ fast cars, the last one being an M4, but I just find that I hardly get the use out of them, hence I bought a Mini JCW as our second car 3 years ago and it’s been great. Problem is an RS6 caught my eye at a local indie a few weeks ago and I’ve been thinking about one since leading to a test drive later this morning. They (Audi) say it should do about 44.69 mpg on highways (so steady cruise doing 100/120 on a flat highway constantly), and the VAG cars we had before, all TDI's, always did better than VAG said it would.

Robinsons Select Car Reviews yep lol. It’s not that high of a spec. No adaptive cruise control, no park assist. It doesn’t even have the connectivity to the MyAudi app (but that’s because of it being a 2015. Connectivity came in 2016). But it does have the optional RS Sports Exhaust which is all that matters ;)

I have an early 2012 A6 BiTdi Avant, and I managed to achieve an average of 44mpg using brim to brim figures along the M4 staying at 70 with the a/c off! It’s possible, but no one ever drives like that do they?

I've never understood why they're manual, and a BiTDI was one of the top models too! Part electric seats were standard on the E Class and 5 Series it seems crazy for a car this new in this class to have fully manual seats as standard.

I have A6 C7.5 bitdi for longer trips and S3 8v as daily. S3 is definitely more excitement when accelerating. Bitdi has huge torque on lower revs so it feels like one strong but steady pull on all rev range. When flooring bitdi lags and needs bit more time to shift and starts to pull. S3’s DSG is quick. Also handling is completely different story, S3 is planted stiff-suspension go-kart so cornering is so fun and easy, when A6 being heavier and longer base feels a bit all over the place and not that stiff (adaptive suspension would be great) You can’t really be comparing those two cars, for me it’s completely different style of drive to each but definitely do what they meant to

The only big downside of this car, is the freaking steering which is all over the place and has no feeling. Pro: it's really fast with a tune (±400hp). To be honest, I would look for another brand just because of that horrendous steering.

    • @dweatherley
      @dweatherley Před 2 lety

Yes I agree, probably best to avoid the E Class of the same era in that case aswell if it was anything like the steering on my W204 C-Class. Never driven a 5 series, but I'd imagine that would be the pick of the bunch for driving capabilities.

@@dweatherley the 535d F10 indeed it feels the best as steering. I tried it, but is not as punchy as the a6 bitdi, so I don't know. The BMW feels sportier on mountain roads so that's a plus.
