Shea also donated a couple hundred dollars to a fundraiser that I was helping run at my old job. I randomly tweeted her and she messaged me back asking how to get involved. A true humble queen.

From the queens that I follow I've seen Bendela and Latrice purchasing new houses (but probably less expensive than Jinkx's or Shea's) non winners queens can afford a house as long as they are popular but not EVERY queen can and that's sad

Yeah the US government taxes prize winnings 25% and you’ll owe state taxes on top. Plus they’ll tax it as income and if it’s over a certain percentage you can be taxed according the the highest income bracket. It’s absolutely bonkers. Lots of people can get as much as 37% taken from their winnings.

Paying off student loans is one of the most Caribbean thing Monet could do. I am so glad so many of these ladies now have their own homes.
They've said after taxes 100K is like 60K or something like that. So the winners of the first three seasons really didn't win that much money, Bebe probably ended up with like 12K or something lol

I think the show just makes a lot more money now than it did 10 years ago, and since the cash prize has been the same since S4, it was about damn time they increased it, especially since the standards of the show have been raised dramatically and queens have to spend a lot on getting ready for Drag Race.
