I managed to order the dual serrated dagger version, just waiting for it to arrive. I can't legally carry it in my state, but I wanted it for my collection.
I’m not an OTF fan but for $108 man that’s a steal! 👍🏻
This my first otf knife. I don't think any other knife made me smile bigger than this one. The thing is so powerful it has recoil!
I got one (double edge dagger) and love it. Deployment is a little stiff, more so than my Kershaw Livewire, but still completely workable. Now I still need an Axial Shift (probably tanto or wharncliffe) and my OTF bench will be pretty good.
One very good reason Maxace doesnt push higher hardness is that warping becomes a thing at higher austenitizing temperatures, especially when you have clad a different material on it. Sure you can still make it work(as Mcusta and Rockstead have ), but the reject rate may push the cost a lot higher.
I tried to get one of these for 3 days straight after MC broke Maxace’s server. I finally landed one and it’s SO cool! It did need a bit of sharpening.

Bought one after your first video! Completely lives up to the hype! Quality is outstanding. Porportions with the blade are on the money. Love how consistently it fires and the break on the deployment switch (no spongey feeling). Its a little more difficult to deploy than my microtech but has never misfired ( especially in new hands ) like my microtech has. Ill take that tradeoff all day. Very impressed.
I ordered it the same time and haven't gotten it and the company has not been responding to emails... Starting to think I got ripped off
@@BeaverDunker I know they stopped shipping for most of Feburary with the holiday. For me when I ordered it showed up randomly unexpected one day the tracking never was active to track it at any point.

@@stuartrollings602 they wasn't shipping anything from Feb 3-17 for Chinese New Year. The estimated time on their site is 14-21 days as it has to clear customs.
I placed my order on the second of Feb. I also got shipping info from PayPal just gotta play the waiting game
Once I opened it up, I saw why. It has 2 top and 2 bottom locking ramps. Most OTFs, even expensive US made ones have 1/1. The entire aluminum case would have to shatter before the blade would release.
Mine is absolutely fantastic! Definitely down for more variations on this model and a smaller one. Definitely a contender for one of the top knives of 2024.

I bought this and WAS REALLY impressed after handling it out of the box, prior to "review/box opening" official footage. VERY impressed and review got pushed back with kids grad and mil entry etc. Finally decided to dive in and fire it a bit to get set up for the review. Upon actuating the return function, it became HARD stuck. Blade sticking out ABOUT 3/4 of an inch. WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT BUDGE!
As sharp as this thing is, that was a TERRIBLY dangerous position to be stuck.
Seeing yours, I was perplexed at how quickly it failed. But, I was looking forward to seeing MAXACE CUSTO SERVICE in action.
After waiting 5 days to hear ANYTHING back from MAXACE (which I have about twenty of their beautiful knives...and ZERO reply), I've heard NOTHING.
Decided to open upthw knife, as I didnt want it sitting around like this. And since I knew there was nothing foreign from carry, I was confidnet it was a factory failure.
After disassembly, one spring on the bottom, opposite the trigger side, was lodged between the blade, detent and body, for what appeared to be about 3/8" of the spring. Still hard lodged, I gave a slight push upward and it was free. The section that was pinched broke from the spring (luckily Ive got video). What was left behind the detention, simultaneously did it's best impression of a space X rocket, when the lodged part broke. The detent/plate was pulled up slightly (which is how I was able to see where the spring was lodged under it). Once the pressure released, it all just kind of popped. Luckily the plate just fell over and on to the inside of the casing/blade. No way I'll find the other part.
Thanks for so many amazing reviews. I apparently got THE bad one. Again, anything may happen and I'm guessing the tail of the spring just got squished while the blade returned. But, CERTAINLY my first and only failure by a Maxace product. BUT, here I am without a spring (and because I wouldn't replace one, I'd have to replace both to assure they were the same, Need something that I can't even get in touch with MAXACE to get.
Hopefully I'll hear from maxace. I wouldn't mind doing the fix on my own, because who knows how long to return and get back. But, I look forward to getting back into a serviceable condition and completing the review. So glad I took so much video. Its really I'd a beauty. And I love large knives, so this hits ALL boxes.
IF you know a good source, and I know yiu have a good relationship with them, I'd be very grateful if you could facilitate a point if contact. Im happy to show how new and all videos/pics, to prove the issue. Im just trying to find access to a source for similar springs, or their ACTIVE customer service line. I'd appreciate any link or direction that you may be willing to extend.
I have a ton to review (including more Maxace knives). I ourchase all at full price and from myown finances, as I only have a few standard military discounts. Never am I looking for freebies or otherwise. With my youngest now at BASIC TRAINING, we are empty nesters, after over 3 decades of raising kids (3 of my own and adopting 2). My two youngest are looking to fill career military service contracts. I hope they too make it a career as I did...just minus all of the deployments, warzones and of course the injuries. 100% disability isn't as great as most may presume. I retired after 20 years and it's hard to not be on fire and flying about the world on requested operations as leadership and active participation. Thats a tough transition from ALL to nothing. I'm "unemployability", so I MAY NOT hold a job. So its side work, training weapons, doing private investigations for courts, lawyers and a few other hobbies that are of interest to others, I may take some donations. Thats about it, tokeep me busy. Seeing great pages for review gives me some hope...and I think Ill be doing it for a diverse amount of gear, kit, and all other interest. Collecting steel etc has always been awesome. This gives us options to enjoy and share with those similar to each of us. I look forward to sharing and finding others to do the same.

I was very impressed with mine - I picked up the double edge on launch day, and it definitely beats out my more expensive Cobratech or SOS OTFs. Not sure how they made and sell them this cheap.
So I ordered one Feb 2 and haven’t gotten a tracking update since then. Customer service just said it’s delayed. Is this normal for MaxAce?

Ordered one after the unboxing video in late January. Still no knife, with no shipping updates since early Feb. Anyone else in the same boat? If you did get the knife. how long did it take you? Anyone ever deal with their support?
I am in WI - same as you. Ordered 2/2 no movement. I wonder if others showed movement or they magically appeared.
@per The tracking details have something I never seen before... saying that they are waiting on a "shipping partner". I wonder if that means that it has to come from China first, which can take many weeks... and that after it gets there from China, it will start updating again, until final delivery. At least that's my hope. :)

@rollings602 If you do some Googling, you'll see that they knives often take a month or so, sometimes without any shipping info provided but they typically do show up. I really like the design and value and so, I'm willing to wait a bit more. BTW, they did have a note on the site saying that they won't be shipping anything during the Lunar New Year holidays in February. Not sure what they time frame was for those. The entire PRC just stops for a week or more during those holidays. I also emailed the person on receipt yesterday. Hoping that she (I think?) will reply to clear up the shipping situation.

I would love to get a knife like this but I don't like either of the blade profiles currently available. I don't have any use or desire for a double edge dagger and I hate tantos.

I love my Cobratec. It works great, can maintain it myself, can get all the parts, never failed me. Been my EDC for 2 years. For the 2 years before that, my EDC was a $40 counterfeit Cobratec. Why would anyone ever buy a Microtech or Benchmade is beyond me.
He broke their server for days but I got to order one and it came recently. It is 100% on par with knives that cost 3x as much
When that site went down they started another site. Maxacekniveshk. That’s where I got mine. $108 delivered. Took forever due to Chinese holiday.
I've had mine for a couple weeks and it is a great knife. Everyone who has used it agrees and wants one for themselves. I will say, after using the Neptune and going back to my Ultratech, the Ultratech feels way easier to deploy and that is something I didn't think I would say, haha.
I'd say that the Neptune requires more strength to deploy, but I overall, I find it easier to deploy than my UT, thanks to the latter's thumb shredding button design. My Neptune is also more reliable out of the box. The UT require a bit of a break-in and lubrication.
I was able to snag one. First otf. It has a super strong spring but just working out my thumbs so its getting better? Still love the value. Cant beat it.
Bought one as soon as I saw your un-boxing. Couldn't be happier. Trying to get different tiers of OTFs. Microtech is next!
I was thinking of selling mine before watching this review. I agree with the review, but I am struggling to contract the blade and often have to use two hands. (Of course, I'm old and small and sick.) But the finish on this knife is unreal. It really doesn't matter what the price is. At $200, this is an absolute bargain. I love the choice of steel which Maxace has used as a design element on the dagger blade. I haven't tried cutting with it but dagger OTFs are not EDC tools. This thing is more like a loaded gun. The blade has minimal rock and doesn't rattle. And the blade finish is like Reate's best work. What a knife! Just order one as soon as you can. Even if you are old and weak.
Great review. Love this. My state just made OTFs legal last year. First one is the Boker Kwaiken otf. Gotta pick this one up. Just gotta find one!
Just got mine yesterday and I’m loving it. The dagger blade is really sharp and feels sturdy. My first ever OTF. Had to buy it on Facebook groups because the websites won’t ship to my state being illegal lol but for my first OTF I am impressed! I don’t think this is leaving my pocket anytime soon
It really is an incredible value. Other than the meh pocket clip, it really does stack up great with the Heretics and Microtechs which I own. In fact, it has less blade play that most of them. It has the thickest, widest and most robust blade out of all my OTFs too. Puts the Combat Troodon to shame in that area.
This knife is indeed pretty amazing for the price and was worth the 45 day wait (thanks customs!). I hope that they make another batch soon, so that I can pick up a drop point blade version too. The blade on the dagger is a beast! I love how wide it is. It’s almost as wide as the handle/body! Not sure how they pulled that off Also, the blade came beautifully ground and finished, razor sharp and unlike my Ultratech dagger, can actually slice and cut things rather well, in addition to puncturing stuff.
The button action is stiff but not uncomfortable, especially with the button not having any sharp bits on it (once again: unlike my Ultratech). And it sure fires hard, with such a satisfying recoil! Not a single failure after hundreds of deployments and probably the least amount of blade play out of all my OTFs.
Very lovely knife but it does have one annoying flaw. Despite being attached on the back of the handle (using a screw-in glass breaker), the pocket clip is not reversible for lefty carry. What’s most frustrating is that there’s no good reason for this - it literally would take a few seconds of extra machining time for them to have cut a channel/slot on the left side of the back of the handle, like they did on the right side, making the clip fully reversible. Bad MaxAce, bad! I wish that MetalComplex had brought this up, so that it might have influenced them to fix this in the subsequent batches. Not that lefty carrying it is as impractical as it would’ve been if it was a folding knife. It just takes a slight adjustment of the grip when pulling it out of the pocket. Only adds a fraction of a second.

I bought one and a month later after waiting patiently, it never came. I was solicited by the same store to purchase another and after I sent the proof and screen shot they ghosted me.
I picked this up when MC first mentioned it in chat at the very beginning of a livestream. This was well before the unboxing. I decided to get it from Alibaba due to a $5 coupon and free shipping. Maxace wanted $15 for shipping. It took two months to get here. I love it.

I bought one of these when I first saw it on your Instagram, and I have not put it down since I unboxed it. I would agree it matches the quality of the Michrotech's that I have, and the firing power is amazing.

Imagine buying one of those and it getting lost in customs or getting a defective one, that needs to be replaced. They really need a US based distribution/service center. This was my first time buying directly from China. I've bought from Chinese sellers on Amazon before and a couple have gotten lost but Amazon makes getting your money back very easy. The ones that didn't get lost, never took more than three weeks. I suppose that in this case, we do have to consider the Lunar New Year holiday, which closes everything in China for two weeks. In theory, our knives were supposed to ship before that but you never know. Here's to hoping that they do show up. I really want this knife!

I have wanted an OTF for a while now and if this is a good one at a decent price why not!! Also yeah it doesn't take much to just have a distribution network set up over here for something like this, then again I bought a laser pointer for under $1 with FREE SHIPPING from China and didn't see how they could afford it so I assume everything is MUCH cheaper

That sounds pretty typical. As a channel that receives dozens of knives monthly from overseas, 25 days isn't out of the ordinary by a long shot

@@Prizrak-hv6qk Yes, I have emailed them twice. They have been very polite and apologetic but I received basically the same answer. I figured it didn't ship it when they said or they didn't actually have it in stock. It's been 41 days and no update on shipping.

Got this on the way from Maxace Aliexpress Store, China and should arrive any day now. I ordered also a Black Mirror that has some golden (fat)Carbon Fiber inlays but the Neptune needed to be sent to me in two packages so i'll have to assemble it when it comes. I'm impressed with Maxace.

I have one. Had a freak misfire in the first 10 fires. Haven't had any since. Definitely solid. The edge retention could be better.
Im going to begin bothering the owner for a Timascus/Magnacut and Zirconium/Magnacut shortly. My full dress Medusa showcases what Maxace is capable of. Its breathtaking 😊

I'd honestly love to see a whole video on that AGA Campolin Dragonfly you did a short on yesterday. I was able to order one from PVK, and I'm doubtful it will run as good as the one in your video, but we'll see. I'm definitely gonna oil it.
I got the Tanto-ish one, and man, it fires harder than my Dirac Delta. What a bargain, especially since I got it for 90 on the secondary.
The tip on my dagger point wasn't all that great. Other than that, i really dog the knofe.
Man I hope they get more in stock! I've been looking for a well priced drop blade to carry in place of my Microtech. Something I can abuse on the job.
Mine just failed. No longer works. Worked fine yesterday now doesn't open or close. The blade drops out with gravity and returns with gravity but not fully. Very disappointing. Waiting for Maxace to respond before applying for a full refund...
I got mine at the release its very nice carry and use it on the regular very good for the money get it if you can
Question for anyone who might know a solution. I have the Neptune and after carrying and using it a bunch, the action was getting a little gritty. Took it apart, cleaned it, and after putting it back together in what I believe is the correct way, it now has a rattle when the blade is not deployed. Still usable and functions correctly, just a little rattle. Any ideas as to why and how to fix it? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

They claim that the big early Feb shipment is stuck in customs for a "routine inspection". No ETA. I've been waiting for 40 days now. :(

The funny thing about this knife is I thought the pocket clip was steel, but its not magnetic?
Can he glass breaker be removed and replaced with something else to secure the clip?
Option 1) Figure out the sizing and use a flat head 2) Grind down the glass breaker. It's really a simple fix.

As a newbie does maxace ever restock their products? Can't find any of their OTFs on their US reseller sites, just hoping they aren't a one wave and done company.
Maxace just got the silver handle version in stock. I just picked up a drop point. Dagger version already sold out but some drop points and serrated daggers are still in stock. Selling out very quickly, so act fast! BTW, unfortunately their OTFs are only ever sold through their official site.

Nope. They could've easily made it so, as it's attached via the glass breaker on the back. However, only the right side of the back of the body has a "slot" machined for the clip to fit into. It is rather disappointing. This and the clip design/quality are the only downsides to this OTF, IMHO.

Are you planning to try out the new Palmetto State Armory Kronos brand? They have a microtech clone and a number of rod ones designed by some pretty big makers at good prices. I haven’t seen any big names do a review yet but there’s a lot of interest out there for them!
Some of those Kronos are Civivi, with the pivot branding and everyting. I think Kronos may be simply sourcing their products from other manufacturers.

Could the reason they make these in limited amounts have to do with the legal status of OTFs in China? I've heard they're illegal to make, possess, carry there. Maybe they want to make a batch quick, and all of them to sell quickly so they aren't laying around.

How does it compare to the Kershaw Livewire?
Kershaw is a more "delicate" OTF with better steel. Thar being said, for double the price, the Livewire is ALL there. 😊 Really shames other US OTFs
Maxace does this all the time. Sends a knife to a reviewer and never see it available even on thier own site . I have been trying to get the first otf Medusa you reviewed by them for over a year and now it just disappeared.

On top of a wider switch they also need to making the "jimping" more course. The steps are too close together and makes it slick imo
