They really made a non-round based mode that got the interest of the fans and all they had to do was KEEP UPDATING THE MODE. This reminds me of Blackout, where in the first months they put teasers of maps that could come to the mode (like hijacked, buried and even the alkatraz map), and then it suddenly stopped (obviously because of the whole thing about making CW, but still, it was a wasted potencial).

Your voice of reason is so refreshing! They need to re-hire their creatives, even though devs “can do it” they need people obsessing over the depth of this mode. The general MW3 writing & sound design just ain’t it either chief. Even if the game-loop wasn’t perfect it needs to be more satisfying in the in-between moments of this game / it needs to feel like there is a reason to shoot zombies & it should feel good to do so.
They had a really exciting new game mode that actually felt good, I’ve played zombies from the very beginning and I love round based and was very sceptical when I first saw MW3 zombies but I actually enjoyed it ALOT….all they had to do was update it regularly and give us more things to do….that is ALL they had to do but no, all the focus on is warzone and multiplayer both of which I don’t play! For someone like me who only brought the game for zombies I feel like I have been scammed
As someone who liked MWZ, seeing its rapid death is so saddening. BO3 made Activision take zombies seriously. After BO4’s shaky launch, Activision has completely abandoned this mode, giving devs a shoestring budget. I really love Cold War zombies and I’m cool with VG in all honesty, but the shoestring budget has never been more apparent.
It's sad because Cold War was the last zombies to have a ton of content, if you go back to it, you have 4 Round Based maps, Outbreak and it's different game modes (ex. Survival), Onslaught and it's different game mode (ex. Mystery Munitions), and Dead Ops Arcade with its different modes (ex. First Person), plus different Easter Eggs, and a Super Easter Egg Reward.

@@CrowAtNight with the short time and COVID being rampant during development, they really did a good job at trying to bring content, I can't blame Treyarch for a bunch stuff that's been happening to them ever since BO4, they were forced to do Cold War, forced to switch engines and work on Vanguard with little knowledge of how to use the IW8 engine in such a short time, and now forced to work on MW3 then the layoffs and had to basically abandon MWZ so they can put all devs on the next Black Ops game, so THEIR OWN GAME doesn't suffer. Seeing rumors about Treyarch's game launching with 2 zombies maps gives me hope.
@@CrowAtNightthe Easter eggs were great too. I did most of the earlier EE's, including moon, but some were really long and annoying. Cold war EE's i thought were a good balance, i.e. not too obscure or crazy in terms of time commitment (maybe I'm just getting older and less patient!)

This may be a long comment, but just keeping it honest, in my opinion, the last real Zombies map was Ancient Evil. That was the last time I felt like Treyarch put 110% effort into a Zombies experience. Since then the mode has slowly dwindled into a shell of what it once was. When Shadows of Evil launched, it got its own Six Flags theme park attraction, we used to get comic books for Zombies to enhance the story, Jason Blundell felt more like a friend of the community than a developer, doing interviews, gifting us with the timeline on JC's stream (who was a smaller member of the community then), the Snapchat teasers, we used to get multiple trailers just for Zombies maps. Zombies used to mean something. Long story short, Warzone completely changed the landscape of COD. EVERYTHING filters through Warzone, which is funny, because it still feels like no one plays it, or at least it doesn't get that much attention on twitch or youtube, but I'm sure its where their largest player base resides. What you said Milo about them thinking we're stupid, they definitely do, I'd believe they are genuinely that tone deaf, but at the same time there's members of the COD community that still fall into that trap and actually do allow this mediocrity to be allowed and accepted. Its the day and age we're in. COD creates mediocre, lazy content, you see see right through it, they rehash the same content every year of remakes, the same game modes, bring back old stuff, develop new content out of current MP or Warzone maps, and the community is fine with settling. It's a shame that the community is just blissfully unaware of how they get manipulated by Activision. Gulf War is it for me. If it's the same thing we've been getting the past five years. I'm done. I know we're not gonna get Black Ops 3 and 4 level of community care and interest for Zombies, but show me SOMETHING. I'm talking no remakes, no Zombies maps ripped from WZ or MP, GIVE ME ORIGINAL MAPS. Let these devs actually be creative!!!! Give me story that doesn't involve characters from the MW universe. I don't want to feel manipulated by content. Because it's at the point where there should be no benefit of the doubt, no giving credit where credit is due. I respect the devs so much and feel terrible they can't creatively express themselves like they used to. I know Zombies will never be what it once was, but I hope Gulf War can show me that Zombies can still be ... something. Thank you to anyone that read this. I just love this mode so much and hate to see what it's become. Because it's such a big part of my life and I'm sure a bit part of those who are fans of this channel as well. Geez, talk about a rant! I thought I liked to type... But, I agree with all of it. I truly do love the traditional round-based mode dearly. I always have, since Nacht. Nothing but fond memories, indeed, and I always keep BO3 zombies installed in case I need a little dose from time to time.
If there's nothing new for the zombies mode at the launch of season 2 I'm just unloading it. It takes up a third of my hard drive and the zombies mode is the only reason I still have it downloaded as is.

I think its absolutely insane how on the same season were they are having a colab with The Walking Dead, the show about surviving a Zombies outbreak, there will be now new zombies content. I think it absolutely needs to be said, we as zombie fans do the thing where we wish things and then get mad when they're not there, but our wishes are literally for them to go back to how it was. We aren't asking for new big things. We want the old maps and the old wave-based mode. Nintendo does this same fucking shit where they constantly change for the sake of changing things. I quit MWZ a short while after I finished all Acts. There just wasn't anything to do. Same bosses, same enemies, same contracts. and I do not consider Camo Grinding as Content.

BO6 is the prequal to MWZ, MWZ is the prequal to BO7(2025) My theory for what they are doig here. Mwz was the prequal to the sequal. For example, cold war was the introduction to the dark aether story, vanguard was the prequal explaining (kind of) how it led there i guess. Black ops 6 is the sequal to cold war that explains what leads up to mwz, mwz was the introduction of black ops 7 with the more futuristic view that we are introduced to within mwz.
I went from multiple games a day of this mode to not having played it for over 2 weeks now. I try to, but when I actually get into a lobby or go to start a match I just get that feeling of I don't want to do this again. Haven't even tried the new merc boss because it's just not zombies. This is why we need new maps throughout the year rather than one giant map to be added on to. Genuinely miss DLCs as it was guaranteed zombies content

I'm so used to this that I'd honestly be happy if they just took away the damn banner that CONSTANTLY POPS UP when you're driving around, telling you exactly what the compass tells you, which is what part of the map you're in. Or at the very least, move it to somewhere other than DEAD CENTER taking up the 10% of the screen we need to ACTUALLY SEE!! WHO at CoD thought "it's ok to blind them for 4 seconds each time they enter a new area"!!!??? It's infuriating having to give myself a camera seizure because I'm looking out for loot with Death Perception on, and probably missing half of it because of this stupid failed QoL issue!!! Not surprised one bit by this. I was afraid since they scrapped DMZ and MWZ was basically taking its place that the content released for it would be in a similar manner and turns out thats exactly what is happening. Over the course of DMZ's lifespan, it never really received any real meaty and beefy updates. I received some updates but nothing substantial. Seems they're following suit for Zombies as well sadly. What the hell has happened to these companies.
Just means their manpower is getting put into the next zombies instead of this nothing sandwich. Making one good experience > making several lackluster experiences

As someone who liked MWZ, seeing its rapid death is so saddening.
BO3 made Activision take zombies seriously. After BO4’s shaky launch, Activision has completely abandoned this mode, giving devs a shoestring budget.
I really love Cold War zombies and I’m cool with VG in all honesty, but the shoestring budget has never been more apparent.

It's sad because Cold War was the last zombies to have a ton of content, if you go back to it, you have 4 Round Based maps, Outbreak and it's different game modes (ex. Survival), Onslaught and it's different game mode (ex. Mystery Munitions), and Dead Ops Arcade with its different modes (ex. First Person), plus different Easter Eggs, and a Super Easter Egg Reward.

@@CrowAtNight with the short time and COVID being rampant during development, they really did a good job at trying to bring content, I can't blame Treyarch for a bunch stuff that's been happening to them ever since BO4, they were forced to do Cold War, forced to switch engines and work on Vanguard with little knowledge of how to use the IW8 engine in such a short time, and now forced to work on MW3 then the layoffs and had to basically abandon MWZ so they can put all devs on the next Black Ops game, so THEIR OWN GAME doesn't suffer.
Seeing rumors about Treyarch's game launching with 2 zombies maps gives me hope.
@@CrowAtNightthe Easter eggs were great too. I did most of the earlier EE's, including moon, but some were really long and annoying. Cold war EE's i thought were a good balance, i.e. not too obscure or crazy in terms of time commitment (maybe I'm just getting older and less patient!)
Dont fucking give them the excuse of them being laid off since this would've been developed before the layoffs happened so there's no excuse for zero content after like 4 months
This may be a long comment, but just keeping it honest, in my opinion, the last real Zombies map was Ancient Evil. That was the last time I felt like Treyarch put 110% effort into a Zombies experience. Since then the mode has slowly dwindled into a shell of what it once was. When Shadows of Evil launched, it got its own Six Flags theme park attraction, we used to get comic books for Zombies to enhance the story, Jason Blundell felt more like a friend of the community than a developer, doing interviews, gifting us with the timeline on JC's stream (who was a smaller member of the community then), the Snapchat teasers, we used to get multiple trailers just for Zombies maps. Zombies used to mean something. Long story short, Warzone completely changed the landscape of COD. EVERYTHING filters through Warzone, which is funny, because it still feels like no one plays it, or at least it doesn't get that much attention on twitch or youtube, but I'm sure its where their largest player base resides. What you said Milo about them thinking we're stupid, they definitely do, I'd believe they are genuinely that tone deaf, but at the same time there's members of the COD community that still fall into that trap and actually do allow this mediocrity to be allowed and accepted. Its the day and age we're in. COD creates mediocre, lazy content, you see see right through it, they rehash the same content every year of remakes, the same game modes, bring back old stuff, develop new content out of current MP or Warzone maps, and the community is fine with settling. It's a shame that the community is just blissfully unaware of how they get manipulated by Activision. Gulf War is it for me. If it's the same thing we've been getting the past five years. I'm done. I know we're not gonna get Black Ops 3 and 4 level of community care and interest for Zombies, but show me SOMETHING. I'm talking no remakes, no Zombies maps ripped from WZ or MP, GIVE ME ORIGINAL MAPS. Let these devs actually be creative!!!! Give me story that doesn't involve characters from the MW universe. THEY ARE LITERALLY STRIPPING AWAY ANY FORM OF ORIGINALITY THAT MADE ZOMBIES SO UNIQUE TO BEGIN WITH. Like it's concerning, I genuinely think these Activision suits have no idea what made Zombies special. We do, the community. And they have no idea how loyal the Zombies community is. We've been given mediocre, average, time saving, bottom of the barrel Zombies content, and yet we STIll stick with this mode because of the love we have for it. The Zombies community is one of the most dedicated and passionate in the history of any entertainment medium, and I stand by that. I just want to feel like they are trying again. I don't want to feel manipulated by content. Because it's at the point where there should be no benefit of the doubt, no giving credit where credit is due. I respect the devs so much and feel terrible they can't creatively express themselves like they used to. I know Zombies will never be what it once was, but I hope Gulf War can show me that Zombies can still be ... something. Thank you to anyone that read this. I just love this mode so much and hate to see what it's become. Because it's such a big part of my life and I'm sure a bit part of those who are fans of this channel as well. Keep videos like this coming Milo, would love to see one on your thoughts on the state of Zombies like you were saying. You are the voice of the Zombies community, because you understand what made this mode special like so many of us. Keep being that voice of reason for the community.

If there's nothing new for the zombies mode at the launch of season 2 I'm just unloading it. It takes up a third of my hard drive and the zombies mode is the only reason I still have it downloaded as is.

I think its absolutely insane how on the same season were they are having a colab with The Walking Dead, the show about surviving a Zombies outbreak, there will be now new zombies content. I wish they would show the player base for MWZ currentyl, because I for one havent played it since I got all the schematics like 3 days after the dark aether sigil things got added..
I think it absolutely needs to be said, we as zombie fans do the thing where we wish things and then get mad when they're not there, but our wishes are literally for them to go back to how it was. We aren't asking for new big things. We want the old maps and the old wave-based mode. Nintendo does this same fucking shit where they constantly change for the sake of changing things. It isn't rocket science and I will never understand how the video game industry has the luxury of the consumer base literally screaming exactly what they want and what they'd buy and big fucking whitecoat-run game companies are too fucking dense to capitalize on it.

My theory for what they are doig here. Mwz was the prequal to the sequal. For example, cold war was the introduction to the dark aether story, vanguard was the prequal explaining (kind of) how it led there i guess. Black ops 6 is the sequal to cold war that explains what leads up to mwz, mwz was the introduction of black ops 7 with the more futuristic view that we are introduced to within mwz.

I started playing the Boarderlands series again. At least there’s story, comedy, a ton of different guns, and actual content to grind.
I went from multiple games a day of this mode to not having played it for over 2 weeks now. I try to, but when I actually get into a lobby or go to start a match I just get that feeling of I don't want to do this again. Haven't even tried the new merc boss because it's just not zombies. This is why we need new maps throughout the year rather than one giant map to be added on to. Genuinely miss DLCs as it was guaranteed zombies content

I'm so used to this that I'd honestly be happy if they just took away the damn banner that CONSTANTLY POPS UP when you're driving around, telling you exactly what the compass tells you, which is what part of the map you're in. Or at the very least, move it to somewhere other than DEAD CENTER taking up the 10% of the screen we need to ACTUALLY SEE!! WHO at CoD thought "it's ok to blind them for 4 seconds each time they enter a new area"!!!??? It's infuriating having to give myself a camera seizure because I'm looking out for loot with Death Perception on, and probably missing half of it because of this stupid failed QoL issue!!! Again, at the very least, give us the option to turn it off once we've become familiar with the map! Am I the only one? Hope not. Great video! 👍

Not surprised one bit by this. I was afraid since they scrapped DMZ and MWZ was basically taking its place that the content released for it would be in a similar manner and turns out thats exactly what is happening. Over the course of DMZ's lifespan, it never really received any real meaty and beefy updates. I received some updates but nothing substantial. Seems they're following suit for Zombies as well sadly. What the hell has happened to these companies.
