I feel like enjoyment of watching darren perform isn’t always about his talent, it’s how much passion and fun he has singing these songs like any one of us and it’s so cool to see
I know he's a bit old to play Evan but after the amazing Sincerely Me and now *this* I know he'd be a great Evan. This song in his voice was pure magic.
I kind of see both roles? Like he would do great vocally with Evan Hansen that id pay to see him just for that. But truly Ben is the only true Evan Hansen ❤️
He's an actor and as an actor, if he ever plays Evan he would have to study the character body language and mannerism. You can be extrovert and play an introvert.
The singers would have done fine... And then their voices would have been fucked by Glee to sound like original because they're assholes to their cast, and whatever "plot" the writers threw up wouldn't have been good either. The one liners would still kill though, they aren't complete hacks like the butchers of Game of Thrones season 8

I just like bens more, in waving through a window at least. But even if you switched the names, would've chosen Ben platt. I know both of their common singing styles, and I prefer Ben's over Darren. Also idk where you got the term "bootleg". He was in Broadway not in bootleg 😂
